This is the link to an ebay auction for the tail section of Jan Opperman's Bogar #99 Tail Section. Here is the story ascit was relayed to me. It belonged to Sheldon Knepp who was a very close friend of Jan. Jan's wife gave it to Sheldon as a thsnk you for his friendship to Jan, and all the time he spent with Jan after his first big crash. Sheldon recently pased away. His daughter needs to raise money to settle his estate, so she is selling this priceless piece of sprint car history.

Just my opinion, but I seriously hope that whoever buys this doesn't stash it away in some dingy trophy room so that just they can see it.
This piece belongs in a museum; The American Museum of Speed or other such place.
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

When I read your post, all I could think of was that line from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

The Eastern Museum of Motor Racing - close to its home.
If you've never been there, you need to go. It's a fantastic place!

Every one of those museums can get it if they open their wallet. It would not even be for sale if she did not need the money to settle her father's estate.

What would something like this be worth? What do old rare wing panels go for?

Good question. If the museums get involved it could go sky high. It is a 10 day auction and already it is at $1,800.
