Two well known speedway personalities from Western Australia have sadly passed away in the past four days.
On Sunday evening Bunbury based car owner Shane Krikke lost his 18 year battle vwith cancer. The former driver was forced to hang up his helmet and ran his very successful Krikke Motorsport Team - winning a host of Australian Sprintcar Championships and World Series Sprintcar titles - mainly with Brooke Tatnell. He was only 46 years of age.
Then today came the news that long time flag waver John Day had passed away. Anyone who has watched speedway in Western Australia would know his fleet of bright orange push utes. John lost part of his leg a year ago but was able to return to watch his beloved speedway meetings. Around a week ago he went back into hospital where it was found he has inoperable cancer.
RIP Shane Krikke & John Day - two legends of Western Australian Speedway racing.
