According to my math if you divide 35 by 2 you get 17.5.  If you round that up you get 18.

Per the WoO rule book no A-main shall be deamed complete if it has not reached the halfway point.  Sunday night at I-96 Speedway they had 17 of the scheduled 35 laps completed when the rain came.  From what I was told the officials were even saying in the raceiever that they needed to get to lap 18 to be official.  Yet, when the rain came and they had to cancel they made it an official race.

Can anyone explain this?  Yep, I know it is only 1(2.8 percent of the race if 35 laps or 5.5 percent if 18 laps) lap but rules are rules.  That's like saying you can run up to 410 cubic inches but we may let 420 go.

Without this turning into a bashing session, can someone just let me know how this decision was made?

"Officials may complete an event, at any complete lap count, at their discretion, if a condition or circumstances create a reasonable inabilty to continue. The race will be considered complete, unless announced otherwise." It's in the rule book.

Thank goodness they were able to finish an epic yellow filled E-mod B-main before the WoO feature.

I wasn't there so I don't now the circumstances.  But if they ran a B-Main for E-Mod's when all WoO A-Main cars could've been ready to go, this is a disgrace.  I'm sure most fans didn't plop down $30+ to watch E-Mod's.  Tracks need to be more cognizant of this type of stuff, particulary when weather is a factor.

Just think if this rule weren't in place....the WoO would have to drag their drivers all the way up there, meanwhile spending both time and money to promote the show (again). Then on the track's end: they would have to pay workers, spend time prepping the track and facility for this show. Then consider the drivers that drove up there to support the show and wouldn't be able to come for the makeup (thus losing their position; maybe falling from a Top 15 to 22nd).

Probably the biggest reason why the top division should ALWAYS run their A-Main first, even if a 5 minute break is needed for B-Main cars, and not only for weather and time constraints, but because a large majority, probably 90% of the fans are there to see that top class and don't need to wait around for the other divisions if they choose not to.

Didn't that bite Selinsgrove a few weeks back by running the Pro Stock feature first and a sprint main was shortened?

The traffic gets started leaving sooner and it should provide a better track for the top class.  Im not saying to run them first just not last. Thing is if the crowd sticks it out thats more beers and hot dogs sold. Lots of times l go to the car and wait for awhile.

Yea, but if they wouldn't have farmed the track for an extra 25 minutes right after the epic E-mod B-main and the WoO A-main they would have surely got it in also.  How many times did they water that night?  Apparently they (WoO) feel the need to have a 2 foot tall cushion at all races now this year for some reason or another.

Was listening to the Dirtvision broadcast and absolutely could not believe the pace they were taking given the radar clearly showed weather incoming. The Sprint Car B wasn't short by any means but people are there to see them. The mods took forever and I just couldn't believe they didn't shorten it based on the radar.

Had to laugh when the promoter came on the mic when the rains came and asked people to continue their support when the All Stars are back. Gotta think he permanently lost some fans that night.
