I have been a fan of sprint car racing for almost 30 years and have seen so many good drivers over the years but have always cheered for the little guy. Well here I go again, although he is not so little in The USAC national series his car owner has decided not to make the trip out west so he is loading up a flat bed trailer with his car and driving out from Indiana. It is Robert Ballou. He is asking for any kind of help, tires, fuel, $$$, anything. He is top 10 in owner points so will have the #81 on his car but believe me this will be a low budget trip. We live in Las Vegas and will be coming down to the Oval Nationals and will help Robert out any way we can. If there is anyone out there with a big heart and a few extra bucks, I am sure it would be greatly appreciated. I can contact him with any donations anyone might have. Come on out there. This guy can stand on it with all the big names

I would imagine expense is a big part of the regular car not going out. A huge crash during the Kokomo Smackdown (not of Robert's making) was a pretty big setback to the team.
I would also imagine that MPHG would also be throwing in some dollars to help out as well.
Why wouldnt you want to carry the owners number? Its a long way to go without a provisional to drop back on should you need it. I am guessing they must have a provisional or 2 left..

This is a ridiculous thread. I assume Ballou himself never asked for donations so I don't think he would appreciate people soliciting money on his behalf. If he is voluntarily begging for money, he shouldn't be racing.

You know what is said about when you assume. Well, once again you're in the wrong. It wasn't on this board but it was on another where Ballou posted about the situation and the other posters on there decided to take up a fund for him. And, unlike this board, there weren't any assholes like you on there bitching about the fundraising either. All of them wanted to help send him out there.

Robert will be racing at Terre Haute Action Track on Friday and Saturday night this weekend. I'm sure any donation would be appreciated!

Racers who beg fans need to raise money then race, not race then hope people donate to them. I don't think any people are begging friends for their next vacation or car. If not OP, then I think Ballou is ridiculous. If you can't afford it, don't do it instead of trying to guilt people into helping.
Also, looking for sponsors and looking for "fan donations" are two different things.
Looks like he wants sponsors, not charity money from board members.

If you want to donate to Sanford's deal do so.... If not, DON'T! It's your money do what YOU want with it... Not everyone's got enough wealth to be a full time racer, but some won't let that stand in their way....
