"Any guess's about where this one's cave might be?"
I'm guessing this might be THE REF...mayor of Sedalia, Mo and an avid proponent of 360's who, about five years ago, predicted a soon-coming demise of 410 racing.
He always had a kind word for the late Uncle Ted! (tongue in cheek)
I LEARNED ESP FROM MY MOM
"PUT YOUR SWEATER ON: DON'T YOU THINK I KNOW WHEN
YOU'RE COLD?"

This is a ridiculous thread. I assume Ballou himself never asked for donations so I don't think he would appreciate people soliciting money on his behalf. If he is voluntarily begging for money, he shouldn't be racing.
|
you are an asshole.. This is serious. He is asking for help of any kind. I just thought I would reach out to the west coast fans for him. You obviously aren't one

The negative douchebag has spoken again, STFU you little moron and get the hell out of here, go troll somewhere else, loser!
|
thank you. This is a serious thread. Robert has had sme setbacks towards the end of the year, tearing up parts not of his making and his owner has decided not to come out west to race. So Robert is bring out his own car and putting the 81 on it for championship points. I am just trying to put the word out to people out west. Look up Robert on facebook and see, it is no joke

You know what is said about when you assume. Well, once again you're in the wrong. It wasn't on this board but it was on another where Ballou posted about the situation and the other posters on there decided to take up a fund for him. And, unlike this board, there weren't any assholes like you on there bitching about the fundraising either. All of them wanted to help send him out there.

thank you!!!!

..If things work out for him he'll be here in AZ for the USAC Hall of Fame Classic on the 26th and 27th of this month, and then off to Cali for the Oval Nations the following weekend. I'm thinking you should post this over on the SCRAFAN forum http://www.hoseheadforums.com/forum.cfm?forumId=13. After all he is a Cali boy from Rocklin, even though he parks his butt in other places at times.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

I just talked to Robert. He said thanks for the kind words and for any help that comes his way. He also admits that no matter what, there are people like mwilaski out there. In the 80's we ran a car at Ascot solely on money that we and friends gave to a racer and a friend. And we would do it all over again!! His name was Kenny Cope. If you are a true fan, there is always a guy out there scraping by to do what he loves to do, race! Any way, any how. once again, I do have Roberts email address and ph. # if anyone wants to help. And hey scrooge, I mean mwilaski, next time you go to a sprint car race, why don't you pick out the smallest team out there, go in the pits and buy them a rear tire. You'll see!!!

If you have to beg people to continue your hobby or livelihood, you should probably get a new one. Begging fans for money to race is ridiculous, go do something you can afford. Imagine if all the teams just started begging for hand outs.

I am pretty sure, in fact I know that virtually no drivers beg their fan base for donations. Maybe they sell shirts, but they don't just ask for money. If someone wants to be so unprofessional that they beg fans for money to race, that's their prerogative, it's just pretty lame. I wouldn't expect anyone here, especially someone who uses the insult "jack off", to understand.
I don't care that much, just thought the idea and begging for fan's money to race was ridiculous so I commented.

Don't get out much, or hang around any drivers on a budget, do you? Any driver I've ever been friends with have always had the, "buy me a tire," "buy me a motor," "buy me wing," "buy me a trailer" attitude. I'd say 90% of local drivers and the majority of travelers have to have this attitude to keep racing. Not everyone has the luxury of big time sponsors or self wealth to race competitively without outside help.

For the record, Robert has NOT begged for money from his fan base. He started solicting sponsorship FROM BUSINESSES for the trip. This fan donation idea was started by a fan (and perpetuated by some non-fans) and kind of took off. Now, I DO sponsor Robert, and have before this and will continue; and I do for many reason-the least of which is that these are the kind of drivers that we need out there for our sport. It's very easy to bad mouth people on the internet. It is tougher to do 30 seconds of research and find out what is really going on.
Ciao. See everyone out at Perris for the Oval Nationals.

And this comes from a clown that doesn't set foot at a racetrack, just comments (rather stupidly) on a racing message board.

I don't think he is "begging" the fans to donate for money as much as its a request. More than likely, he is searching for sponsorship too. There are a lot of fans on these message boards that own their own business and may want to associate their company with a driver. Plus, sponsorships do not have to come from companies, they can be donations from a private entity who just enjoys racing.

Your statement alone that you know "for a fact that virtually no drivers beg there fan base for donations" says alot about you. You know every racer in the country? cause you didn't say full-time, part-time, start up. Just that you know that no other driver has ever asked the fan base for money. If I'm not mistaken the beerhill gang donates money to many local drivers and I would bet you that alot of that money comes from people reaching into their pocket and simply donating cause they love racing, I think whether you like Posse or the Beerhill gang or not, you'd be hard pressed to find someone that would say that they aren't trying hard to promote racing and having fun while they do it.
Have you at all thought about the fact that people would possibly like to donate cause as an individual you don't run into alot of situations that you can feel like you actually have a small stake in that car, maybe you only gave $25 or $50 but now that person can listen to or watch that race and can say I had a part in that. If you had abit more money to give you could probably talk to the guy and he might be willing to put a small sticker on the car for you. BTW, I'm not donating, I just don't feel I'm in a position to judge what others should or shouldn't do with their own personal decisions and money.
If you don't want to ask for money for your own race team, than don't. But I doubt that you even have any affiliation with a race team, I'm sure your just the blowhard that goes to a race and complains about everything from the hot dog you bought to the price of the ticket and condition of the track and then at the end of the night come on here and make everyone a little dumber for reading your drivel.
You should get into politics cause it seems like you have no problem telling others how they should feel and more importantly no problem standing over top of a dead horse and beating it, even though everyone around you disagrees.

You are all right. Drivers definitely go to the public and beg for fan donations, especially ones who are supposed to be "full time". I don't know what I was thinking, obviously any professional driver would do this.
All of you are as clueless as usual. As clueless as you were about Kinser being "done", as clueless as you are about Swindell "not being a dirty driver" and on and on. There never was any use in sense with most here. You make up your own minds based on nothing good.
Go find me a couple more USAC drivers doing this and I will agree that it has a place in high level sprint car racing. If you want to be cheap and unprofessional, whatever, then go beg your fans for money. If you want to be a professional, get your ride and finances sorted before you hit the road. I bet Joey Saldana isn't going to cart a 410 around soliciting donations if he doesn't get a ride right away next year. But yes, this definitely has a good place in racing, begging fans for donations. Gives the individual driver and the sport as a whole a real nice image.
