Danny Smith and them $1,500 to win-

We all love that retro Spurlock he bought, but I didn't think he wanted retro race winnings as well...

Give the man a break. Look at all the hard times he's been through the last few years. We are fortunate to still have him around and he deserves any recognition that he can get.

Note that the feature winning amount for River Cities Speedway was left out. I think they paid something like $1000 or $1200.

And Rahmer's season ran from Feb to Nov. Like them all.

Good fodder.

I am gonna have to vote for Mark D. He may have raced at 3 tracks weekly, but those 3 tracks all in different states and so so many miles apart. Simply amazing. Jeff

I would also have to give my vote to Fred also, Mark has only one or two cars at Grand Forks to beat on any given night. Now Knoxville and Husets is a different story, but Fred deals with more fast cars week in and week out. Danny Smith has won alot of races, and good for him, but fast cars is another story.

You guys want to talk about amazing, in the past few years Danny's shop burnt down forcing him to start from scratch, his only crew member passed away and his wife died of cancer. He's running his own deal and i'd be willing to bet that if he had the funds to put it on the road and chase bigger races he would do so. The man is a true legend and as I said before, he deserves any kind of recognition he can get.

All three certainly had great seasons. I hate to say it but there is no question who had the best year against the toughest competition. Rahmer easily beats them. 11 wins at Rver cities? Fred also has to start in the middle of the feature lineup because of the inversion. Where did Danny and Mark start on an average with their wins? The real tie breaker is who did the best against the WoO guys this year. Anyone have those stats?

At River Cities Mark only started higher then 8th twice mid season and track championship night. One night he started 24th and jumped to the lead in 9laps.

Twenty-fourth to the lead in nine laps? That's not exactly an endorsement of the quality of competition.

24th to the lead in 9 laps? How many 360's race there on a weekly basis with the 410's? Enough said about those 11 wins.

I don't care if they have a 305 under the hood. you still have to make the pass! When you start dead last you have to pass the all the squirrel's then the nuts to get to first.

If Shaffer can clean house when the All Stars come to town, Rahmer has this one in the bag hands down.

Mark who?

What was Dobmeier's best WoO finish this year? What was Smith's best finish with the WoO this year? What was Rahmer's best WoO finish this year?

What was Dobmeier's best WoO finish this year? What was Smith's best finish with the WoO this year? What was Rahmer's best WoO finish this year?

Danny Smith had an average WoO finish of 17.75 with a best finish of 12th. Fred Rahmer had an average WoO finish of 14.8 with a best finish of 4th. Mark Dobmeier had an average WoO finish of 14.25 with a best finish of 7th. So if you want to go off of best finish it's Rahmer, but if you want to go off of average WoO finish it would be Dobmeier. It just depends on how you want to look at it. Another intersting stat is Danny Smith won 38% of the features he was in, Mark Dobmeier won 37%, while Fred Rahmer won 21% of the features he was in. I don't care how tough/weak the competition is if you win over 35% of the A-mains you were in, that's damn good.

Pretty interesting interview with Fred Rahmer on dirtnation.net.

http://dirtnation.net/2008/11/07/freddie-rahmer-sprint-cars-110608/

He says today's tires have the cars stuck too hard, and his boy will probably race late models instead.
