I'm starting to get tired of these one line posts indicating whether Calistoga is on or off again. Please, if someone is going to post on the future of this race make sure that you have some substantial evidence to back up your claim. As was stated in an earlier post, some of the board members at the fairgrounds, in Calistoga, frequent these message boards. If that is the case, please let us know about the future of this possible monumental event.

radrobinlb ------- you are just as capable as i am of going to the napa county fairgrounds web site and looking for yourselfWink, the race has been in both the speedways schedule and the fairgrounds event schedule for several months now, however as stated by me the race has been removed from the speedways schedule,it is however still on the events schedule ? and it was posted and then deleted by another poster that it was the fair-boards intention to return the check and delete the race from the schedule, i don't know if the check was sent back ? but thy sure as h@** deleted the race,i have also herd that usac is still in negotiations and doing every thing thy can to make this race happen, lets hope and pray that thy are successful,i started attending races at calistoga in 1962 with my family and friends as a very small child and no other track has brought me more joy or more pain than calistoga has and i am truly going to miss her if she goes away

You should have stated this information in your original post. Your first post was very irritating.

Call the Calistoga Speedway at (707)942-5111 and ask why they aren't willing to have this race. Then let us all know what bullshit story they gave you. If they say something about it being a big holiday weekend and they needed to solidify it or open it up for another event, then ask why they have a "tentative music festival" on the first big weekend that is only a month away? Should'nt they remove it from their event calender if it's not solidified by now just in case somebody wants to hold a fiddle contest or something?

You can't expect them to remove it from both calenders already. Man...there are only so many hours in a work day.

I will call the fairgrounds, but I don't think you can get any reliable information from someone who answers the telephone concerning ticket sales for an event in 4-5 months away. What can they tell me? Though I think the idea of calling about the race is a good one.

Anyone call yet? I did, they told me the fair board decided not to have the race. But like tripcrwn said, what kind of info can you get from someone answering a phone. I hope USAC can overstep some boundries here and this thing is a go. The people of the Napa County Fair board are not worthy of having the fairgrounds! This is B.S! They must be drinking their own spring water!

Robbie, why dont you guys take it over and run it like it should be run?

If the fairboard plows Stoga, I will never spend another dime in that county.

Have a nice day! =)

God... I don't know how long it's been, but Al, you've finally said something sensible. (lol)

Brilliant actually.

Robbie, I second his suggestion.

The word is that Steve Howard contacted JPM and asked him to be the promoter of this event, but Padjen said "No". Why? Does he not get along with someone in Calistoga, or is it the Vermeil's involvement?

Chad -

Whatever reason JPM has for declining the promotion of the wingless race at Stoga(if true - I haven't seen anything from Robbie(ca.nana) or Steve Howard that confirms that they've even talked about it), it really is between JPM, Steve, and the fair board.

JPM has a little deal coming up a week of two after Labor Day - it's called the Gold Cup. I'm sure that with the Gold Cup, their personal problems(house/office burned down), and everything else that is going on at JPM, they've got plenty to do without taking on another race with an uncooperative fair board.

You seem to really want to see this race happen - so why don't you pull up your britches, agree to promote the race, and take on the fair board - and all of the associated costs with the race?

The Padjens have done enough for sprint car racing in NorCal that they do not need to explain their action, or their apparent lack of any action on any topic, to anyone. Not that they need me to defend them.....

Thanks, guys. Steve did talk to John . 3XC John gets along with most people and has always had high regards to the Vermeil family, so don't start that crap about him not gettting aling with someone. We have not started our year with a lot of personal luck, so please keep your little comments to yourself unless you can post something you actually know for sure. Thanks to our friends for understanding as we greatly appreciate your concerns. If you want to know facts then call our office and we will see if John can give you the FACTS.

Finding a promoter for this race is a problem. To bad the Padjens are not involved.
