Another thought to go along with my previous post regarding a promoter for this race. If Padjen has no interest (and I am not saying they don't) maybe the Kazarians from the PAS would. To bad Aggie is not around anymore as he would jump on this show. But his sons promote...

Chad -
Whatever reason JPM has for declining the promotion of the wingless race at Stoga(if true - I haven't seen anything from Robbie(ca.nana) or Steve Howard that confirms that they've even talked about it), it really is between JPM, Steve, and the fair board.
JPM has a little deal coming up a week of two after Labor Day - it's called the Gold Cup. I'm sure that with the Gold Cup, their personal problems(house/office burned down), and everything else that is going on at JPM, they've got plenty to do without taking on another race with an uncooperative fair board.
You seem to really want to see this race happen - so why don't you pull up your britches, agree to promote the race, and take on the fair board - and all of the associated costs with the race?
The Padjens have done enough for sprint car racing in NorCal that they do not need to explain their action, or their apparent lack of any action on any topic, to anyone. Not that they need me to defend them.....

Someone else asked JPM to promote it and I am just asking "WHY" he doesn't want to? Maybe he knows something about the fairborad that we don't? I am willing to do any free legwork to help this race happen, but I'm waiting to win the lottery twice before I can afford to actually back it.
So why don't you pull up JPM's britches and stop kissing his ass.
Chad

Finding a promoter for this race is a problem. To bad the Padjens are not involved.

I agree.

As of Thursday 4/24, the race is on for Labor Day. It is my understanding that USAC will both promote and sanction the race.
My conversations with Steve Howard reveal that he is working hard to raise money for the drivers. Sponsorship for the Hard Charger, Heat race winners, Semi winners and hard luck are still available for each night. We need as many people to step up and support this event as possible, as the price of gas will be even higher for the travelers by the time of the race. We have a considerable amount of money already committed, which will go directly to the drivers and owners.
Our current efforts are to obtain corporate support. We are approaching local companies in Napa County as well as any other supporters. If anyone has ANY corporate support, in the form of dollars or donations, please contact Steve Howard at SoCal.
We have received inquiries from drivers throughout California, Indiana and Arizona. Our goal is to see a star-studded group of drivers compete on this historic and beautiful speedway.
There is a committed group, which includes the efforts of Leroy Van Connet and Dick Vermeil, putting this event together and we intend to make sure that it is a tremendous experience for the fans, drivers and owners.
Thanks for all the dialogue and interest in this race. Stay posted as you will hear more in the upcoming weeks.
