For sure most versatile in USA.  My opinion only, but most versatile "ever" for me would be, Andretti, Foyt, Larson, Stewart... arguments on order can be made for sure, but them are my 4 for any/all disciplines.

2 of them have won an Outlaw race and a NASCAR Cup race (Stewart and Larson)....anyone want to guess who the other 2 are without googling??

Perfect example of why live is better than streaming....

Couldn't see him fighting thru the field... it must have been incredible

So glad I got to witness Schatz' win from 21st at Knoxville several years ago! :)

Yes, I'm 70 yrs old and I witnessed incredible driving by Foyt and Andretti.  I'm addicted to the movie Grand Prix which had real F1 drivers of the day acting and driving.  Kyle Larson is in that class of driver I think.....

This actually came to my mind after the race.  I watched him making his way up through there. It was actually to me not as thrilling as you might think to see. It was a slow and steady climb through the field about a car a lap the track was a little slower and he wasnt really using aggressive sliders or big moves just alot of finess. I watched brad sweet come from like 12th to 4th to 2nd at a HL race at Tri City earlier this year that left me thinking it looked like an absolute clinic.I did not get that feel by watching this race. It was an incredible feat no doubt but probably not as exciting looking as you might think.

Schatz, Gravel and Larson, on any given night, and ya Brad Sweet!

I'm thinking Schrader is a possibility on one of those?   I'm trying to think of another but nothing's popping up in my brain right now.

Yes Ken Schrader is one of the 4, Gordon is not, he got an Allstars win but never a WoO win

Great thing about Kenny is he won in all 3 usac divisions and a ton of modified races too which makes him a guy to talk about when the versatility talks come up.  Not in the big 4 convo, but better and more accomplished than many know.

You betcha.   Schrader, Stewart, Larson and Bell the only 4 to do it.   3 of em got a chili bowl or two as well and one of them a top 15 in the indy 500.

Excellent, I had wondered if that 4th could be someone from more recent history.   Bell didn't pop into my brain though.

Stewart has  multiple starts in the 500 but my guess is Larson with the top finish. Stewart had some good runs there in the early IRL days but no luck. Schrader had an opportunity or two at Indy but nothing great and went to NASCAR if I remember correctly

Schrader crashed out in practice in his indy try I belive.

Stewart finished 9th in the indy 500 and won a indy championship in 97.

Larson may top Stewart's 9th place run next year. I hope so.

Best indy 500 finish for sprintcar fans after Mario and a.j

Stewart 5th

Hewitt 12th

Kinser 14th

Sarah Fisher 17th

Larson 18th

Clausen 23rd

PJ Chesson 33rd

Swindell DNQ

Schrader DNQ

I'm sure I'm forgetting some since 1992 to present

That's pretty good, Ed Carpenter did drive Sprints and midgets before running the race JJ Yeley and Jimmy Kite also but I'm sure there's others.
