Geesh this is worse than I imagined. Glad I made the decision to stay home and watch on tv.

I could walk about 6 blocks north of my house and watch a slow frieght train if thats what I wanted to see. Not have to drive 85 miles to Knoxville & pay $30 for a ticket.

Dunkins & crew have a lot of work to do to get that rubbered up track ready for sprints & wing sprints Saturday night.

The amount of exposure the KnoxVille track and coverage of two of their best champions was priceless.Looked like excellent crowd as there were several in the north bleachers.That being said 50 lap feature would have been enough.There were times when track was about perfect for them but 40 trucks was too much.With TV coverage there was no extra time for track prep although that would have been about as entertaining as watching the enduro with 1/2 the field crashed out. I did watch All-Stars and the 55 car win its first feature after being close.The drivers all said it was fun but Knoxville is made for speed and honestly an IMCA street stock would have lapped the field.Glad they were able to miss rain so the Sat night show wasnt affected. The facility in Newton would have probably been better option but wouldnt have begin to provide the hype or amount of paying spectators.I would say it was a success but not good racing.

I agree with the driver that stated that opinion, seems like the crew chiefs knew the track would not be very raceable either. I forgot about them being at Knoxville, when I looked at the tube schedule I seen Iowa and assumed it was the paved speedway in Newton. I was pleasantly suprised to see the trucks at Knoxville but that only lasted about a half hour, it was just way to sucky to watch. Knoxville doesn't need that junk.

I actually thought the first 2 stages were entertaining and there was actually some decent racing as Schatz was picking his way thorugh the field in stage 1 and after falling badly in stage 2, began to march forward again.  As someone else pointed out, the exposure for Knoxville was excellent as were the constant references to the sprint car records at the track. 

When did it all fall apart?  The start of stage 3. Racing started out "meh" and ended as a bumper car race as no one could pass without roughing someone up.  You can really tell in the trucks that there is a lot of "daddy's money" financing some of these rides.  Saw a lot of guys come in with torn up trucks, smiling for the camera in the interview.  If true "low budget" operations, I would think there would be some very pissed off individuals.  

Now, for the real problem-----------------LINE THE TRUCKS UP ALREADY AND THROW THE GREEN!   HOLY SHIT!  Does Nascar need to witness the show tonight to understand how to get the field back in order and back racing again?  That was ridiculous.  There had to have been 20-30 laps under yellow run during a couple of those "overtime" cautions.  

All of that said, I'm a glutton for punishment.  I say let them give it another go.  I think everyone deserves at least 2 chances.

I don't think its the tracks fault, but rather Napcar and the trucks fault. It reminds me of Martinsville before Nascar started using the VHT traction chemical additive. The Knoxville track looked super smooth and very race-able, but the trucks look like non-working ole heaps out there. If they're going to continue to put these ole heaps on dirt then Napcar needs to help them out with some extra mechanical grip... Like a 8-10" side/wing panel that runs from behind the drivers door, to the rear of the truck. Get rid of the windshields too.

Well that was certainly.... something.

A certain part of the NASCAR fanbase laments the loss of old Bristol, well they got it back last night. One groove around the bottom and you had to move someone by the end. I'm not putting any blame on the track prep whatsoever.

By the way, did Kraus have a snowplow attached to the front of the truck last night or what? Damn.

I'm with egras, lets see it again and see what improves, or doesn't.

Take out the windshields, put on rock screens, give the drivers tearoffs, protect the radiator, and let the Dunkins work their magic.

Shout out to one of the Sprint Car Drivers. Devon Rouse, a 305 driver from West Burlington who finished 18th. Nice job.  Hard to watch. Wanted to turn it off but then the thought of something dumb or good could happen. Alot of the first.

Everything is fine, the novelty show is over with plenty of time to work the track for tonight.  The racing was typical nascar, slow and it became a demo derby with five to go.  One thing I noted is that the tv broadcast referred a lot to sprint car racing but didn't show many clips of it.  That would be kind of like when the opening band blows the headliner act away.  They didn't want peolpe to see what the track is really used for because the racing is 10x better than the trucks. 
 

Now we can return to the usual topics.

Very glad I didn't even watch it on TV...  I do hope to watch the real racecars on Knoxville's surface tonight.

I'm pretty forgiving and didn't expect much but I still had to bail out a few laps short of the checkers.  YouTube suddenly seemed like the best option at that point.

All you pretend race fans crack me up. I'm a sprint car guy 100%, but the race was great. 3 lanes the entire first stage. Sure was rubber down most of the race after, but it reminded me of Martinsville or old Bristol. 40 trucks on the track, lapped traffic, the race was exciting. Would it have been better if track held up more?...sure, but I'd watch 300 laps of Cup cars on that track before I'd watch most of the spread out cookie cutter tracks they run. 
 

Biggest problem at the end was NASCAR needed the choose rule cause guys were getting burned if they were an even running position.  That and a bunch of young kids were running out of talent and wrecking each other.
