any word on who's going to show up for the 410 race sunday at action track?  only name i've seen for sure is billy dietrich.  danny is supposed to be in ohio.  i figure freddie will definitely be there and hoping ryan smith comes out as well.  the gate price is a little steep...$28 for adults and $10 down to 6 year olds so i'll be paying for my son for the first time i can remember.

No idea. I haven't heard much of anything. I definitely was eyeing this as a potential event to hit simply out of curiousity. I've been to Action Track a couple of times and its always full of good racing, but the 410s on this track? I don't know.... seems like it would be a cautionfest. That place is tiny.

I hope its fun for all involved, but I decided to go on a fishing trip for the entire weekend instead. If you go, try the pierogies.

Is that the Senior Billy Pauch? In the 72?

I assumed he had retired.

Seems from the promo I hve seen they are only paying 18 spots. I imagine starting only 18 in A main. Not a big fan of the 410"s on this small of a track. Just seems like its a gimmick to bring in money lost thru covid. Too many tracks, too many races just waters down the product. Sure there might be some 305. 358 teams there. which if you go by advertising of 410"s that cheats the fans. JMO

What is up with Tim Shaffer & The Heffner team? Mike buys Tim a new RPM chassis which Tim had previous sucess with in winning races with the #49 and #28, tows all the way to Knoxville last weekend for his HoF induction, and then this week Tim announces he is running the full Ohio Speedweek in the Grove #28. Are they still together as a team?

Geez I figured there would be 7-8 cars there like back when Trailways tried to have 410 shows. That track is bigger than Kutztown and much better suited to full sized sprint cars.

i like bull rings so i'm hopeful it will turn out to be a good race.  it may turn into a high speed parade (somebody else used that and I like it) more than a caution fest.  i see that at williams grove every week anyway.

it does come off as a bit of a cash grab based on the prices they're charging to get in.  it's a business obviously so you can't blame them for trying to get a piece of the pie.  weather looks iffy.

regarding the 72...i'll probably always hold a grudge against them for what they did with ryan smith.  it's the only car i actively root against at the track.  i don't want anything bad to happen...but just don't want it to run well.  we were hodnett fans who went to all the fundraisers and signed up for the 5k coming up so that's a big change for me.  there's an arrogance around that team which makes no sense to me at all given the bad things that have happened in that car in recent years.

people tried to dump their lack of success on ryan smith...and for them lack of success was consistent top 5 finishes instead of wins.  there's a huge mismatch between what people think that car can do and what it can actually do.  turns out ryan smith was getting into a backmarker car and somehow made it competitive.  he made another comment on winged nation where it seems like the expectation is to stick a driver in there and make him do all the work.   he's won 3 races this year already in the 6/10x and had the 72 car running better than the likes of daryn pittman, shane stewart, and now tim shaffer so a "capable driver" wasn't the issue in the 72.

Per Mike Heffner- Our guest drivers this week will be Mr. Mark Smith and Mr. Billy Pauch Jr. Mark will compete at Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday night for the Joe Whitcomb Memorial and at The Action Track in Kutztown for the 410 sprint car race on Sunday. Billy will be in a second Heffner Racing entry for the 410 race at The Action Track. We would also like to wish Tim Shaffer good luck and success while competing in Ohio Speedweek!

Is the Hefner 360 car a Mach-1 chasis? Seems odd Mark would park the M1 for another 360 ride unless he's trying to help a customer get their car better.

The Heffner team runs Maxim chassis, although they just debuted an RPM (Russ Mitten) built chassis for Tim Shaffer, who ran it at The Bob Weikert Memorial (Port Royal) and again last week at Knoxville.

They're paying 6 grand to win and three grand for 2nd.  Takes a lot of 28 dollar tickets to pay 6 grand to win

Just glad I didn't drive 2 hours and spend $28 to watch 18 full size sprint cars. I am sure not all were 410's.

But wingless 600 were very good.

Thank God for Flo.

Or did some of them have 360s too?

Guess what. Nobody cares.  If you don't wanna go don't go, stay home and keep your big yap shut.   No need to come on here and critisize a small track with limited seating for trying to put on a show.   They paid 6 grand to win 3 grand for second.  I'm sure they were trying to make sure they could pay the purse.  The racing was actually pretty good in my opinion.  I'm glad I went and glad I paid 28 bucks.  Maybe it will help them grow their facilty and racing programs. Try being appreciative that you live in an area where so many tracks attempt to put on shows instead of bitching

Apparently you haven't seen Hodnett's stats from 2014-2018 or Daryn Pittman's stats from 2011-2012. Heffner's car has achieved excellence before and will again. I'd like to know exactly what they "did" to Ryan Smith? The fact is, he was given 2 seasons to achieve what was expected and he didn't get it done. Just because you like him doesn't make him an elite driver because he simply isn't. A driver of his caliber SHOULD win in western PA. It isn't even close to the level of competition in Central PA. He's a decent driver but not great. He knew what Mike expected when he took the job and he didn't deliver. If that kind of shit hurts your feelings, you may want to pick another sport. God forbid if you'd been around when Hamilton and Weikert were in their prime. Those guys expected excellence and right now and if you didn't do the job, you were gone. They didn't give a shit about your emotions. It was win or else.
