Well I'll be damned! Look at all of those late model races! Suggestion, pick one of those (or 2 or 3) and go. That way, you won't have to be on here bitching about the sad state of sprint car racing anymore.

What part of "there are more places in this country that have a stock car heritage than an open wheel one."  There are more late model teams because there are and have been for years, more late model tracks.  This is not because of rules but because sprint car racing (especially high level sprint car racing) has only ever been the dominant form of racing in a few regions.  They traveled everywhere but were/are novelties outside of a few main places. Late model racing is not in great shape financially either...even with more big purse races.  there are less traveling teams now than there were 10 years ago.  just look at the full timers lists on the two national tours.  The top guys are still the top but there are fewer of them and less traveling mid Level guys.

im not saying rules cant be part of the sprint car problem, but every form or racing shares in having problems because the money isn't there that was there a decade ago.  Btw if you added in all the wingless teams with the winged ones the comparison would be far more even.

This list would be a lot more impressive if didn't repeat the same events over and over again. Hell, 34 Raceway is listed on here four times.

I actually agree with you. You're right on the money with everything you said. All I'm saying is the guy is on here all the time creaming his jeans over how healthy and amazing late models are because of their rules packages and how terrible sprint car racing is because of the rules and Chinese chassis so I figure instead of bitching about sprint cars, he should just go watch late models and then he won't have anything to bitch about and we'll all be happier.

Short Track racing as as whole has huge financial issues.  Look at modifieds, Late Models and Sprint Cars.  All are dealing with the exact same issues, purses are stagnant, fans in the stands get less and less yearly, and costs continue to increase.

Do Late Models have a lot of big $$ races?  Yes, but they are big $$ to WIN, they are pretty poor overall once you get past that winners share.  (I have listened to driver interviews where they drool over what Knoxville pays the Late Models because once you get past the winners share, it pays out more $$ than the Dream 100 and World 100 for every other position.)  Late Models are in as bad or worse shape than Sprint Cars are in (IMO) when it comes to costs.

Do Sprint Cars have a lot of big $$ races?  Not comparatively, however their overall purses rival what many of the big $$ late model races total purses are, there is no apples to apples comparisons.

To me the biggest issue (in all of short track racing) that needs to be addressed is how to get more butts in the seats.  You can't raise purses unless tracks increase revenue (ie: Ticket sales).  Unless tracks figure out how to fill the stands more regularly, purses will continue to be stagnant (or decrease) while costs to competitors (and fans) continue to increase.

Get more butts in the seats by show casing young marketable racers (Kyle and Rico), and find sponsors that cater to the young crowd. Most people have no clue what the drivers look like. IF we can get more fan interaction with the racers pre and post race this can only help. I like what the NFL does by showing up close videos of the players, state, position, and what college they went to. "HI I'm Brian Brown, Driver the FVP, Searsboro, Casey's General Store 21", blast that on the video screen every chance you get.

Get more butts in the seats by creating an event that's family friendly. At the same time creating an event will turn off the hardcore fans that complain about 15 mins of down time and $15 ticket prices.

I'll use Knoxville since that's the track I frequent the most...has done a great job of marketing these past few years, offering free kids nights, discounted ticket packages, etc.

I know I got off topic....

One of the things that seems to be working is the "free" pit pass promotions. I took a trip out to California and went to Placerville and Calistoga, and while the ticket prices were outrageous, getting a "free" pit pass and being able to see the cars up close and the crews and drivers discussing the night's events really added something to the show.

totally agree.

I really don't care how the tracks get more butts in seats, but that has to be the end goal for all tracks (and should be for drivers and team owners as well).

I have been to tons of sprint car races and talked with many, many fans and nobody has ever said one word about where the cars chassis was built. Fact is very few fans care where the cars are built.

Nascar openly promotes japanese cars by allowing toyotas to race with them.

Nevermind the fact that Toyota operates six manufacturing plants in the US and have produced almost every notable model in the US.

I really can't tell if you are as big of a idoit as you sound? Or if your like a kid just looking to stay busy with nonsense ramblings that's  just pure racism and arrogance. You truely must be this dumb because no one with a brain would waist there time thinking of the next stupid thing to say on hoseheads! I'm done now and won't be coming back to any of your threads or post, not worth the time I will loose in life, that could have been spent doing something way more constructive! eventually everyone will figure out, if you don't acknowledge him he will go away, may take some time but he will be board with out anyone to get fired up.

I realy love how you are now NASCAR SPOKESPERSON, lmao wow

I think it was even worse for Cubic than 1-2.  Stevie Smith (1st), Hodnett (2nd) and Ott 3rd (also in an XXX).  So, an all XXX top 3.

Outlaws top 4 at Kings. I think that makes 6 in a row and 7 of 10 in Cali.

Doug Esh flipped on the frontstretch at Port Royal tonight in his Triple-X chassis and walked away uninjured. Furthermore, no fans were injured by flying projectiles that came as a result of the frame breaking into 100's of little pieces because the frame held up just as well as any of those “superior" American made models.

Goes to show that crew chief is So So important.. When you have a guy like Keith who makes larson, bell, abreau  look like rocks stars and know  the right t"tricks" to get those cars to go round it's important. His tricks have carried onto larson marks team this year with Kyle knowing all the great secrets has really helped Stewart be very very competitive with schnatz..please don't take it as disrespecting Stewart he is a great driver, but having that inside know how is very helpful for Any Talented Driver!

look at the improvement with Jason Sides this year with having set up a car

also have changes been made to kraig Kinsers  team this year? Does he have a new crew chief or engine builder?

when you have a great setup guy like Ricky Warner  that can get scchnatz from dead last at the nationals to first goes to show you that insight and tricks to the trade  Does help!

seems as though there is a shortage of Decent Crew Chiefs or there might be certain car owners that maybe crew chiefs don't want to work for?

Looking at Buffalo Wild Wings car they have had so many drivers through there program is it owner or crew chief?

Roth not sure what they got going on? Is it Dennis because money is not the issue. He's had some talents through his cars over the years. Thought Gravel did great last year but this year Roth seems to have made some poor choices. with crew guys.'Or equipment changes  Gravel went through 3 crew chiefs in less than a year and now Hirst seems to be out in left  field a bit. I just hope destiny gets rid of that Benic guy because that kids got some talent I have hears that Jack and Craig aren't  fond if Benic.

Why aren't there any crew chiefs out there? Or some that are Available that know how to set up a car. Maybe in order to keep this series going they should work with training mechanics for the future of the sport!
