yep they allexcelled in THEIR CLASS of cars.
larson has had success in many classes of cars in a short period of time.
just what does that have to do with larson accomplishing more than sammy in a such a short time?
|
The point is he hasn't done it if you say he has done more than sammy then he's done more than the outhers to unless your formula 1 champion you can always go up that's my point Larson is not close the smy or the list above

you are trying to compare wins...in one form of racing. yes sammy has more wins in 45 years of sprint car racing than larson has in less than five full years. but look what else larson has done in those five years that sammy never will.
larson just teamed to win one of the biggest and most prestigious races in the entire world of motorsports and you guys are talking about golden drillers. that is like trying to compare the super bowl trophy to a lettermans jacket.
larson won three national events in one day at a track he never even saw. same thing with the belleville nationals, he won without ever seeing the place. he won the championship in his first ever stock car season. talent and success is not gaged by wins alone.
i never said larson had done more in sprints. the thing is sprints is all you keep trying to compare larson with. larson had his success in sprints and turned it into success in other forms of racing. when you talk about versitility and the ability to perform with success in multiple driving disciplines larson is doing things that sammy never will.
so you keep bragging about all those sprint car wins....because that is all you have to talk about.
to indy and beyond!!

Without picking sides here, there is a HUGE difference between available equipment, caliber of teams, and payout at these shows when comparing what happened even 10 years ago agianst what is happening today. Larson is a really good driver, who in 20 years or so may prove to be the greatest. He has had the good fortune to team with some very successful enterprises outside of Sprint Car racing which has helped propel him to success. It is not like Ganasi has never won a 24 hour race. Not saying that is the reason, but you would be remis to think that it did not contribute. That also goes for the success level of most of the drivers that came before him and will for those who come after him.
Sammy is a great driver in his own right, but to even try to compare his earnings with that of what is available to a kid coming up who lands in the right places is really silly. My bet is that Larson has already out earned Foyt at this stage in Foyt's career as well. Again, not saying the Larson did not earn it, he most certainly did.
My point is that this is all good fun, but at the end of the day there are a lot of factors that are involved. Both Sammy and Kyle are great drivers, and I hope that Larson has a long career and finds much success, but it gets a little old when this conversation comes up every time there is new blood who finds short term success. Not saying that Larson is a flash in the pan, but he has not been there nearly as long as the greats have. At least not long enough yet. Larson will get there, but let it happen before he becomes the next A.J. Foyt. Lets see where he is at in 20 years.
I just enjoy watching these guys run each other as hard as they do, and I hope that continues for many more years to come.

Agree for the most part unless your formula 1 champ you can always move up just like my profession there's always someone higher and in auto racing the chili bowl don't pay that much but look who alls there all in all sammus years at the top or near it are impressive let's wait 20 years to see were Larson is

I agree for the most part. Unless your a Formula 1 champ, you can always move up. It's the same in other forms of auto racing as well as my profession; there's always someone that's better than you.
The Chili Bowl doesn't pay much, but look at who shows up every year. Sammy's years at the top, or near it, are impressive. Let's wait 20 years to see where Larson is in comparison.

so you are saying larson has done more than petty, dale, and force? nice!
but back to sammy.
yep sammy has won more sprint car races. if larson won the next 5 daytona 500's a couple of indy car races another rolex and maybe a golden driller, sammy would still have more sprint car wins....so what is your point.
sammy has a bunch of sprint car wins. what else you got?
to indy and beyond!!

well one IROC win is one more than sammy will ever have.
and you are correct steve is the best sprint car driver that has ever sat in one.
you have just explained why steve is better than sammy.
but just what does that have to do with larsons accomplishments over sammy?
|
If memory serves me correctly, wasn't Sammy invited to IROC one time? I thought Sammy turned down an invitation to IROC. Of course I think it was because they just wanted him to change right rear tires for Kinser.....

......and then one time at band camp.........
Good Lord, this topic is boring. When it comes to Sammy you fall into one of two camps: Diehard Sammy supporter or a Sammy hater. You either see the desire or the horses A$$.
When it comes to Larson you fall into two camps. The people that see all of the potential and talent that he has in multiple cars, or you see a bunch of hype about someone who does not have a lot of total years racing.
.....I took my flute and...............

Thank goodness for Kyle and Sammy. Good stuff.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?
