hey man ..what is your problem..you say you are a fan ..but i do not think so..you are a keyboard negitive..every post that you get involved in is a negitive vibe..and so what if a bunch of guys want to level the playing field by making a effort and putting in some hard work ..trying to bring the racers together..get a life ..go find some other form of sport to put down.

I am a HUGE Fan of sprint car racing. What I'm not a fan of is further splintering of the sport. Having a "FRESH START" means another set of rules and lower car counts at the tracks thay run the 305's now.

All you are doing is forcing guys to either spend more $$ by changing the rules, or you are creating another division (there are only so many teams/drivers that even WANT to be in sprint cars, if they don't want to race them, making it an economy class isn't going to get bigger car counts).

There are IMCA Modified and IMCA stock car drivers that spend more $$ on their cars than what 305's cost today. Changing the rules is not going to entice them to move up to Sprint cars.

I have no problem with leveling the playing field, but you can't do it by making the teams that have already spent $$$ spend even more. Come up with something cheaper than the motor to even the playing field. IE: They have to run without a nose wing, or they have to weight 100 LB more (bolt on weight) than the Racesaver motors, or they have to run the hardest tires every race while the others can run softs if they want.

Making guys that have motors obsolete (by going to RaceSaver Engines for example) from your division DOES NOT increase car count. This sounds to me a lot like the logic used at Eagle where there are 5 team owners not racing that will come back if they change to 305's from 360's (only problem is they are pi$$ing off the owners that are running with them currently. Car counts will stay the same and in 2 years they'll be wanting to make another change.

The BEST way to increase your car count is to remain consistent from year to year with your rules. When you get to year 6 or so you have teams that have been racing for years that have cheap enough used equipment that is still competitive that new teams will buy their parts to go racing. By changing motor rules. wing rules, etc. every 2 or 3 years just makes all that used equipment obsolete therefore it is not economically feasible for a new team to sprout up.

The new teams in the 360 and 410 ranks are buying USED motors from teams that are upgrading so they can join that class without spending $40,000 on a new motor, they can do it for 1/2 (or less). 305's are doing just hte opposite. There are teams like Ball, Stelzer, Van Haaften that may decide to upgrade their motors during the off-season (or move up to 360's) and sell their current one to a new team or one that didn't have as strong of a motor. If you make that motor obsolete, you may end up losing TWO cars instead of just one. You may lose the team that was going to upgrade their motor program (because they need to SELL their old motor in order to do so), and the new team can't afford to buy a NEW motor (there aren't any used ones on the market).

You have to look at it from BOTH vantage points, not just the vantage point of if we change to part XX, everyone will be using the same stuff...

vande 77, please do not judge until you have all the facts. The "Fresh Start" that I refered to was in the leadership in the organization. The new rules that will be proposed will include almost all of the combinations that can make a 305 cu. in. engine. Please be patient. We just want 305's to prosper without the increased costs that the 360's went thru.

Your proposed engine changes would make todays 305 motors obsolete.360 engines started out as just bored out 350's remember, until the big bore short stroke engines came along, look at what has happened to them, you are wanting to start down the same path with the 305's.Some people never learn, most racers are the last ones you want making rules, they just want more, more, more until they ruin things.

Great comments...What do you think we should do ?..The meeting is tomorrow so give it your best shot...We need people to make an effort to help this division grow...There are a few of us that are prepared to do just that..Do the work ...There are also a bunch of (HIDE BEHIND THE KEYBOARD) people that make negitive comments and have no intentions of getting off their collective lazy arses to help..So if you have a idea that you think will Help...PLEASE let us hear it and we will read it at the meeting.

Hey Carl, IMHO it is really simple. Set your rules, tech tech tech, and lock the rules in place for at least 5 years without any option to change until that time. Set your rules with the intention of making sure that everyone has them in hand, even if that means handing out printed versions of them to every owner and driver that walks through the gate. If they don't like the new rules, screw them. Racers are most often their own worst enemies, but clubs don't help the matter when they don't police the rules that they set in place. A rule book is only kindling when it is not enforced.
