it seems like the level of nonsense has really gone up this year. the "rubbing is racing" attitude doesn't apply to sprint cars unless we're comfortable getting people hurt or killed on a regular basis. somebody needs to show me the place on a sprint car where you can run into each other. i don't really care if it was the tuscarora 50 for $53,000.
it's only my 3rd year following after being a lifelong nascar fan. if getting people hurt or killed has been good with everyone then i got the sport wrong by how everyone reacted after greg hodnett was killed. i
somebody mentioned in the heffner thread that they miss hodnett. i don't miss him in the sense the 72 isn't running well because the driver isn't the issue. i get the feeling maybe he was a source of intelligence and maturity. as great as dewease's drive was with a broken wing at the grove during speedweek...i was more impressed that hodnett took care of him in the closing laps when he could have run him over. i wasn't used to hard but CLEAN racing as a nascar fan. it seems like there needs to be somebody in the pits going up to guys like jared esh and the others involved in the first wreck telling them sometimes it's better to just throw the ball out of bounds and live to fight another down.

I agree with your first paragraph. Larson has had a few dirty wins this year and Dietrich has had a couple. There was no shame, just celebration. I didn't think it was cool to win dirty but things seem different this year.

As has been pointed out multiple times, it seemed cool when Jason Johnson beat Schatz at Knoxville in 2016. Not only did it seem cool, everyone, including myself, loved it. Over the last 20 years I've seen so many tight slide jobs, guys getting run up the track, and guys getting squeezed down against the berm, that I've lost count----and seeing a few guys do it in 2020 doesn't really even phase me. It seems no different this year. It's just the freshest on our minds and there are a lot of people with sore asses over the fact that Kyle has won too much.

I think the esh/gee deal was just 2 guys that were not going to lift no matter what. It was for the last spot in the Tuscarora 50. Hindsight can say it was a stupid move, but neither guy gave a inch. Racing hard, you betcha. Smart ? They both would probably do the exact same thing. Neither give a inch.

Throwing a hard left into someone you know is there down the straightaway and running him into the guardrail so you don't get passed isn't racing hard, it's racing dirty. I could understand if it was the last lap of the A main and they were going for the 53G, but not for 1500.

My statement was a rebuttal to a statement claiming---and to paraphrase----Larson is winning dirty, there is no shame, why is this happening today? My answer is that it's not just happening today, it's been going on since sprint car racing has been around. You are basically agreeing with me. Yes, I'll agree JJ squeezed Schatz. And maybe everyone didn't love it, but I was in the crowd and at least 90% loved it You point out Steve Kinser. How about Sammy as well? Those guys didn't squeeze or drive anyone up the track in their day?
It's been going on for decades. Why do some think it's something new? Because we can watch every damned race now and have a replay available on YouTube, Dirtvision, or Flo. Nothing new going on here folks. And if you want to point to Kyle's couple of "dirty" wins, how about the other 30+ clean wins? Kyle's just under a microscope because he has been in the camera lense at every race he's at.

Probably started with cages. I doubt people tried this stuff with no cages
