Haha...good one. No worries I will be racing, dont worry about that. Just at a place that appreciates and understands racing. Guess I will have to move if nobody can work together, enjoy wasting your time and money to support such a great promoter as you say he is. Peace...

Mr McLain posts his name and racing stats. If you are a racer why don't you do the same? Hard to give your posts to much weight when you hide behind a screen name and the other fellow does not. There had to be more people there than just you but I do not see anyone else supporting your side in this.

Actually, Danny Smith made a facebook post complaining about the cancelation as well. I'd trust his opinion more than any of you.

Anyone remember George Echols and the AWOL series? They had a thing or two to do with sprint cars racing in the south. I remember 20-25 years ago AWOL was racing through the south and paying a minimum of $2500 to win and $400 to start.

The USCS is a circus at best; a joke if you will. This is not the first time spam Walton pulled a move like this and won't be the last. He rained out a Speedweek race because he was tired of Gary wright taking his money, and I quote as I was standing there, "I'm not letting that Ascs driver win another one."
305's are the herpes of sprint cars

American Winged Sprint Car Assoc. 1988 7 races 1989 13 races 1992 7 races 1993 20 races 1994 25 races 1995 25 races 1996 16(20?) . Seems like it stopped with 1996. There were only 6 dirt races scheduled that year. Information from the National Sprint Car Annual.

I've raced many different types of cars dirt asphalt fenders and no fenders with many different organizations and promoters in multiple states and I've hav never witnessed any more of a chicken shit decision made then I did yesterday in toccoa,ga!!!!! It was buitifull weather and plenty of cars. I hate it for the track owner the fans and all the racers that took time off work spent the money to travel long distances and time and money preparing their cars to get screwed over by one selfish unorganized person!!! USCS Racing is a unorganized joke!

You just showed your ignorance with every word you just wrote, it hasn't been standing room only for a USCS race in years and if you were observant enough to realize that half the crowd leaves after the late models run because we cant get the field pushed offed in a timely matter because of lack of push trucks and organization on how to run a proper sprint car race. The fact that he allows anybody to run what they want and not enforce any rules is absolutely ridiculous. If you would like tou keep racing with the Terry Gray show and go down with them thats your choice, if you truly love this sport and understand it you will be part of the solution...enjoy your lunchs with your CEO, maybe he can help. Probably the most ignorant comment of them all...have a good evening!

I went to 2 USCS races last year, one at Toccoa and the last race of the year at Gaffney. Both places were packed
and not to many people left before the sprints cars ran.

Ive never actually seen or heard of whitedonkey around sprint car racing either! I actually love tennis and played soccer for 13 years. Loved every game.
But i try to drive sprint cars now. I got four in my shop. Only one is mine. Constantly trying to help other racers and sprints in general. You are the perfect example of everything that is wrong with internet race fans. And hey whitedonkey, you know my name and that i race with the uscs. Come out from behind that stupid username and introduce yourself one day.
We'll play some tennis and discuss the state of sprint car racing!

I was going to reply on how I've read a couple things from teams that hauled hundreds of miles that were upset with the decision.
However the total ignorant post by Tmanzjr kinda cancel otu the legimate stuff and make this thread worthless.

Im waiting for someone to explain why the race was canceled. Acording to this thread they had plenty of cars, plenty of fans, good enough weather and yet the race was cancelled? Somthing not adding up here.
McLain did you notice Whitedonkey created his account just to argue with you, Hmmmmmmm looks like somone created a new account (whitedonkey) to give his other account(Tmanzjr) some credibility.
No dog in this fight just trying to throw some fuel on the fire ;)

Here is Pete's post cancelling the show. "Due to impending cold temperatures tonite with lows of 24 degrees predicted the USCS Toccooa Tangle Saturday night races @Toccoa Raceway have been cancelled.Congratulations to last nites winners. Two day ticket refunds of $15 will be available Monday to those who purchased them."

crickets regarding Bulls Gap cancelling an ASCS show due to "weather" 2 weeks before it was supposed to run?
I have no dog in the fight, but promoting sprint car shows in Late Model country is a "tough sell" for everyone IMO (promotors, sanctioning bodies (ASCS, USCS, WoO).
I don't live there, so I have no knowledge of how Pete runs his shows. I'd say he must be ok, or no drivers and team owners would support him, they'd either go find another type of racecar, or travel further to race with another organization.

Makes sense to me, if they were predicting 24 degrees he made the right call, unless he has a crystal ball he can only base his decision on the predicted weather forcast. If they had raced and the temps did get into the 20's and motors started to get damaged as a result, the same guy bitching now would have been saying "he knew damn well the temps were gonna be in the 20's and six teams lost a motor, thnks Pete" A promoters job is not easy, and no matter what decision they make they will always piss off someone. I wouldnt want that job.

When we rolled onto the track Friday night for the feature, I was able to look up in the stands and hardly anyone was there. The first thing I thought about was man, I hope Pete made some money from the backgate because he lost his ass on the front gate. Its a shame to because we spent so much time and money promoting it.
We know the fans at Toccoa love us. I went as a fan a few years ago when Turpen won. We stood in the stands and talked with most of the fans. They love having us there. My girl at the time actually got tired of standing and looking for a seat that we actually turned our tickets in and got two pit passes. We were able to sit on someone's truck on the backstretch.
Last year, when we raced there on Labor Day Weekend, it was the same story. Slammed packed and we put on an awesome show.
The race simply got canceled because Pete lost a ton of money on Friday night and couldn't take a chance of losing a ton of money again on Saturday night with temps expected to be really low again. The whole entire week up to the event, I was wearing shorts and flip flops. On Friday morning, the cold front came in and it was back to jackets, hoodies, and handwarmers.
FYI, the same thing happened at Ocala for the ASCS. Bubba lost his ass when only 100 fans showed up on Friday night, so he canceled Saturday night. Its that simple. Believe it or not, people have to make money to make events like this work.

Yup but the promoters is the one who chose to take that chance the racer looked at a schedule and chose to go race! NOT spend thier money to drive hrs away to stay in a hotel and turn around and drive home!!!!! I guess the next time I get a job I'll only finish have of it,charge the customer for all of it and tell them oh well. Ya that's good business!!!!!

I never said being a promoter was a easy job but he's the one who chose it and he's the one taking the chance so don't take it out on the racers. Last time I checked u can't have a race without racers.

Half not have.
You sound & type just like tmanzjr.
Getting canceled due to weather is part of the sport. Rain, cold, snow whatever. It is the racer who choses to take that chance when he tows to a race. If a promoter ignores the fact weather may keep the fans away and loses money the whole series and therefore the whole schedule may go away. I know tmanzjr can afford to lose money promoting a race (per an earlier post) but not many actual promoters can.
Sure wish all the folks on here who know how to promote races better than those now doing it and are willing to lose money doing it just to help racers would lease a track for a night or two and DO IT! They would soon learn they don't really know crap about promoting a race.
Still wondering who tmanzjr is since he says he is a racer.

Can't pay the racers the purse without fans buying tickets. The racers can form a club then they do not need a promoter. But they still need to deal with track owners & book races. Then if they want to race infront of tiny crowds on a cold night you can. But the losses that result will come out of the pockets of all the club members.
Maybe tmanzjr will do that for you, since he is not afraid to lose money promoting a race.
