Yes. Out of pocket. I would think 99% agree with me. He won't run out of pocket for long. And I am happy for him that he won a race. Just saying I don't think he will be able to keep his ride long without a big sponsor as Kahne is likely not going to keep that outfit rolling down the road without one next year.

Kudos to Darrah for helping Dollansky, but most people aren't naive enough to think he isn't paying for his ride on some level.

Why is it anyone cares who's footing the bill, obviously someone is paying the bills and for all we know its Kasey, maybe his Dad is throwing money in too, why would it matter anyways other than an attempt to use it as a reason to run him down. I don't know if you noticed but take an inventory of the guys that run this series or race cars in general, I bet you find half or more of them have had family help along the way. This sport isn't like basketball where you pick up the ball and just get good and it costs little to nothing, it takes money to get into and I don't know alot of 16 year olds that have the kind of money it takes to even try it out (I know Cody isn't 16, I'm just saying to get started even in the sport).
Cody did tell me a couple weeks back when I talked to him by the hauler that they have picked up a sponsor and it will be going on the car soon. I'm not sure if its a major sponsor or what. My other guess on the KKR team(and I could be wrong) but I think that next year you may be seeing one of the guys in a Farmers Insurance sponsored car and that would leave the Great Clips sponsorship for the other. I'm sure some wouldn't want to believe that though either cause that would ruin their fantasies of Kasey firing Cody.

Instead of complaining about who is or is not sponsoring the kid, why can't people just be happy for the kid. I think some people are just jealous of the fact that Kasey owns his car and think that he should always be running top 5 every race. Some may forget that this is only his second full season with the outlaws and he is still seeing a lot of tracks for the first time. I don't care if you have top quality equipment, your going to have your struggles. I'm sure in the next few years he will be contending for wins each week, so give the kid a break.

Let the smack talk continue. The fact is, most people that talk shit on here can't wheel a 410 half as good as Cody or even have the balls to step into one.

I guess it all comes down to your judgement of who you thought was s better race car driver and deserved the ride more, Paul McMahan or Cody Darrah, and who could afford it.

No offense to Paul McMahan, because he's a good racer and seems like a real good guy, but Kasey has the right to put whoever he wants to into the car. You can talk about Paul deserving the ride more than Cody, but it's Kasey's call and he put Cody in the car. Maybe he sees something in Cody and wants to give him the opportunity to grow, thinking he might have a really great talent on his hands but it just might take a little while for it to develop. Paul has bounced around to a bunch of different rides over the years and you pretty much know what you're going to get with him. Cody is a bit of an unknown, but there is a lot of talent in there. I'm guessing Kasey sees that talent and is taking a chance on him.
Congratulations to Cody on his win.

I wish him a big sponsor and success. I do believe he will need to get a lot better to have that success, and he may just do that. Look at the slump Kraig Kinser fell into a few years back. I thought he would never be a serious contender again and now I would be pretty concerned about him come Aug. 11th if I were the other major contenders at Knoxville (and any track the rest of the season for that matter). Maybe Cody needs a little more time.
I also do think there is a small percentage of people that thought he was trying to run on a shoestring budget when common sense would tell you he is not. An owner with the resources to land a major sponsorship deal is going to throw everything he has at it. I hope he got the sponsorship he needs. Having more drivers on the traveling circuit is good for all parties involved.

I think there are many people that want Cody out of this ride simply because Paul McMahon did so well in it a couple of years ago and Cody did not do as well last year. I have said it many times that Paul McMahon should have a quality ride with the Outlaws but remember, Kasey had already committed to Cody before he was injured in a crash and last year was Cody's first year full-time. All he needs is sometime to develop as did Schatz, Meyers, Saldana, Dollansky, etc and he will be fine. In the meantime, I hope another owner will give Paul a shot since he is deserving of it.

Yeah 8th in points is really impressive with the resources at his disposal! But he's not emptying out the trailer every other week like last year? Good thing cause pappa joe would go broke!

Nice to see there is at least one person with an inkling of common sense on here.

if joe is putting money in the team, does it really matter? if it were your kid and he had a decent amount of talent, and you had the funds, wouldnt you back him.....publicly or privately? i know i wouldnt have to even think about it.
some drivers start out wicked fast and wreck every night until they get smooth and some start off slower and smooth and become faster....cody has proven he can be fast and is working more on being consistent....which he is.
stop worrying about cody taking someone elses ride and be glad that SOMEONE is paying for another car to be out racing.......

Exactly, so no one should bring up "unsponsored car" again. Because it is not an unsponsored car. It just isn't sponsored by a company. Some folks are acting like he pulled into town with a gooseneck trailer hooked to a '78 chevy truck and pulled off some miracle running against huge dollar teams with a 12 year old motor and used tires.
|
LOL, you must know me? No miracle tho, just some skinned knuckles and a supportive family , small feats go a long way in this trailer.. take care.
