Didn't Outlaw speedway south of Muskogee try this combination 2 years ago? But, I remember it being $35 including the pit-pass and it was not well received. As I recall the promotor lost his arss. Do we not learn by others mistakes? Apparently not.

Your close. I t was last year and it was $45.

I can't believe that DIRT Motorsports likes the idea of $50 tickets for one night of racing with a normal purse. After all, DM's trying to entice the fans to start coming back out to the races and this would seem to run counter to that goal. My opinion would be that if you can't make enough money selling a WoO event at a normal price, maybe you shouldn't take the race date. I think USA Race Park has over-estimated the value of its event. The fans will decide. I hope the "walk-up" crowd realizes what the price is before getting there.
This isn't a good way to rebuild the fan base.

I remember when Muskogee did that. I also heard he didn't do well. I guess since he is in jail, we don't have to worry about him trying that again.

John,
Like Swamp stated earlier in this thread, DIRT doesn't set the ticket price. About the only thing that they could do (that I can think of), now that the ticket price is public knowledge, is ask the promoter to lower the price and refund the difference to anyone that's already paid. If the promoter won't agree, DIRT's pretty much stuck and will end up with a bad name over something they had no control over.
Signature here.

$50 to see WOO? No thanks. No thanks to anyone else who wants $50 a show. Got to see Aerosmith last fall for free because of my banker, but they weren't $50 tickets. I go radio control car racing all winter with my 2 sons, grandson, and extended family. We spend thosands of dollars each winter to race these things (you would not believe what you can spend!). The track owner recently ( January 1st) apologized for raising the entry fee from $10 to $15 to race each Saturday night. I told him he should charge at least $20. We are there from Noon to Midnight for 12 hours of family fun for only $15. Fully stocked hobby shop, and two tracks - a flat carpet ovel ,and a high banked carpet oval. Seems like we should pay him for having that much fun.
My personalized Ohio plates are "Eldora 1", but I will never pay $50 to see any sprint car race. I don't believe the "Eldora Million" was over $35, but that was a few years ago, and I'm sure I'll be corrected if I am wrong.
$50.00 is front row at a top notch strip club, and titties will win out every time over horsepower!!!
Just my opinion.......................Fotowiz

Three choices here on February 23rd, the night of the WoO race at Tulare...
Head to Reno and see The Who at the Silver Legacy. Ticket prices - $170.25 $130.25 $94.25 $70.25
Head to Santa Cruz to the Catalyst for Willie Nelson. Ticket prices - $69 in advance/ $76 at the door
Or head to Tulare for WoO. Ticket prices - $30.00 Bleachers, $ 35.00 Grandstands
Even if they were $50 it sounds like the WoO would be the better deal.

Just purchased my tickets for the one-night show at USA Race Park in Tucson AZ for the Outlaws in March. Tickets prices are $50. The lady who took my order said it includes a pit pass as well. I asked how much without the pit pass and she said all tickets are $50 regardless of whether or not you go into the pits. The lady was very nice, but $50 for a one-night show seems a little bit steep. Does anyone know what the ticket prices are for the FL WoO races or any other races coming up? Thanks.
|
Tomindy ,was that you over at the ABC motorsports site where the guy said that the $50 price was for a "corporate package, with a lot of perks" and not the admission price? Maybe she was nice but had it wrong, I hope so for the winged fan's and for any future shows. I'm not saying you are wrong ,but man that sure is steep. Kenny aka BIGFISH!

Gee what is a guy to do, charge $50 a ticket and get half the crowd or make it affordable for the fans (no more than $35 and that is pushing it) and more than likely fill up the grandstands, sell more at the concession stand and maybe the fans will have a good time.
Geez, guess I will never make a good promoter because I would choose the latter.

Geez Mike - Last time I saw the Who the ticket was only $18 for festival seating.

the bands can pretty much guarantee an above average to great show plus a lasting memory. Cant say the same for track conditions.

I wish the gas would get that low here in NorCal. The Copper is going to be a great race. I can't wait to get there.

John, I've never understood the disparity of fuel prices of one coast compared to the other. I live in NJ and, fortunately, our prices are usually on the low end of the national average. Right now we're right around $2.00 a gallon. The area I live in is VERY expensive for everything else from car insurance to real estate, when taking the national average into account. In fact I would say that it's right inline with much of California, but our fuel prices still stay low (if you can call $2.00 low). And that's for full serve! There are no self-service stations/pumps in the state that I'm aware of. It's some stupid law that they made because apparently we're not smart enough to pump our own. It is very convenient though. And a lot warmer to get to stay inside the car when the wind chill is single digits like it has been the last few days.
I've always been a devout believer that the west coasters get in the rear when it comes to fuel pricing.

I saw the WHO at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto in 1967, they played second fiddle to Hermans Hermits, the tickets were $10, the opening act was the Blues Magoos, We Ain't Done Nothin' Yet,da da da. Take It Easy....
PS A show, any show is only worth what you will pay for it, kinda like a good woman, lol.....

Man David, 35.00 is still a big pill to swollow for me. Anything over 20.00 is steeling as far as I'm concerned. For that much money it aint family entertainment prices. It's gouging you in the dirtiest part of your body. Go ahead and say it, I know I'm a cheap SOB. You all enjoy the high price racing. Not for me though.

BIGFISH -
That wasn't me over at the ABC motorsports site.
I will apologize in a second to the Tucson track if the lady I purchased the tickets from mis-spoke and I have passed on bad information. But I asked her at least twice if that was the ticket price and if all the tickets were that price. She said yes. And she stressed that each grandstand ticket included a pit pass.
Once again, I hope she mis-spoke.
Perhaps I will call again today to confirm, but it was pretty clear when I hung up the phone that my credit card was being charged $150 for 3 tickets.

Sounds like another promoter has gotten on the old bandwagon, and is trying to take the easy route. The easy route I'm referring to is, Don't do anything extra or spend an extra dollar to get more people into the stands, just squeeze the HELL out of the few fans you already have. I have to believe that is what they are taught at promoter school.

Fuel costs are the same across the USA per gallon refined. Its the State and local taxes, amount of roads, registered autos, and population that differ making some states higher than others
