Nice to hear Schatz admit the Ford falls on its face. He didnt lose a step talent wise over the course of 16 months, TSR hosed him by shoving that program on him.

Gee, sunday there were 22 chevy engines behind Schatz.  I doubt if D.S. could beat Gravel on that day with a chevy.  Who knows, maybe TSR might be paying DS extra for his part in research and dev..

Not impressed for even a second.   Not only is that track nothing like Bristol or Knoxville, but not having a wing on the car pretty much makes the engine a non-factor.

Then why don't they just save some $$$ & run 360s or crate engines?

Obviously a wingless car on a bullring isn't as "horsepower dependent" as  a winger on a 1/2 mile, but my point was  just that its too early to totally write off the "Ford" experiment

I wonder if Donny would agree with you?   ;-)

I watched the replay of the race. Donny had enough motor, the car was all over the track. That one falls on the crew chief. Logan running out of fuel cost him that race.

I think his complaint was that the engine didn't have it on restarts.

i watched the race highlights and when Donny lost momentum it took way to long for him to get it back. cause he passed Gravel and when he was ready to pass Logan he got stuck behind a lap car and just didn't get back up to speed. Whats everyones opinion on WHY.. the engine has power. are the power curves in the wrong place????

Yep, motors are electrical and I've never seen the word "motor" used with "internal combustion" either!

then you haven't been around the pits much . Everyone refers to them as motors.

Should we also start saying airfoils instead of wings now, to just to be politically correct? Not me !

What I actually said was I've never heard the term "internal combustion motor" used.

Yep, you hear it all the time on TV "car guy" shows

Technically, they're wrong (from an engineer's kid) ;)

I watched the 5 minute youtube clip.  Here's what I try to remember when I watch any event, anywhere.  I'm not there, I'm not in their position and usually I don't know anyone who has any inside knowledge about the situation.  I didn't see his interview but from what I saw his car looks real competitive.  On the initial start, the guy to that started on the outside of him got by him intially but Schatz was back by him within a couple of laps.  On the first restart, within a lap he passed Gravel and was close to Schuhart.  The rest of the restarts didn't look impressive but he was never seriously challenged by anyone behind him.  So my thought is people are sure making a big deal about a guy finishing 2nd.  When I was first reading the comments about him I figured he finished 19th or somewhere around there and was losing 2 or 3 positions on every restart.  I'm only going off of a 5 minute highlight video but just becuase he wasn't able to blow by whoever he wanted to at will, I don't think it's as bad as people are making it sound.  He was a solid 3rd place car, from what I saw he never got more than a straightaway away from the leaders and from what I saw nobody behind him really challenged him.  So it could've been the track being hard to pass on?  It could've been the car going away towards the end of the race?  Or (in my opinion the real reason) it could be that the competition's better than it was 5, 10 or 15 years ago?  I don't think the Ford is as bad as everyone thinks.
