This should be an interesting weekend in the Woo vs HL saga. Wonder how the car count will settle out between the two as neither series are in 410 hot bed areas. Last year the Woo had 34 cars at this weekend at Pevely, at least 7 of those in attendance will be in Texas for HL. Guess you only need 24 to fill a field and put on a good show. Get your popcorn ready.

Yea I think the season has officially started now, with local stuff starting and the two series now officially competing against each other. The next few months  will be a good indicator as to how sustainable this model will be.

I find I-55 to be one of the best tracks on the planet from a spectator's standpoint.  I wonder what the drivers think of it?

I'm not a HL fan at all as most are probably aware, but objectively the debate is not HL vs WoO so much as Missouri vs Texas.  Pevely is in an region that has a good number of 410 teams.    I wish Texas was a good area for 410 racing, especially since I happen to live here.   If both places have a full feature I'd call that good.   I would expect HL to do better on car count in Oklahoma though.

Spot on. How far will either of those two tracks pull cars from? Whatever sanction is in MO will have an advantage over TX on days that end in Y.

agreed and one of my favorites, standing along the fence in three and four.  it was like that in 2010 when i visited the midwest scene,,,

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

Both should be just fine. HL has 18 currently touring plus at least Brown, Holmes, Macri, Hafertepe and Hahn (at least at the dirt track in Dallas) are racing HL. I55 has Hagar, Williamson, Thiel and Randall coming. Plus IRA and Knoxville still off

One thing that will help Hal is being held in conjunction with a nascar weekend otherwise if it was like last weekends powri race there didn't appear to be 20 people in the stands.
im gonna make the trip to pevely from sw Ohio.

I think Pevely will be a better show, but again that's based on the track and not the sanctioning body.   Pevely is a much more exciting track from a racing standpoint.   TMS has a great facility but I've never been impressed with the racing surface or any of the racing I've seen there.

Hopefully they both have full fields and  good trackconditions. There will be no Cmain. I liked HL week day better purse races Direct competition is a different deal. I think the fans will miss seeing the best !

Friday HL rained out

If these tracks continue to cancell two days ahead of the race they will start to have a hard time getting teams not running for points to travel far for their races.

The people who complain about early cancellations are usually the same ones that would complain if they did not cancel and wasted money traveling to the venue.

From their cancellation notice:

Several inches of rain, standing water, soaked grounds, and a flooded facility has forced the cancellation of Friday’s High Limit race at Texarkana 67 Speedway.

I didn't say a word about fans. I said teams, some of them already traveled to the area for the races.

? Wouldn't the same issues with water pertain to teams as well? It's Wednesday. I'd think that any teams that are there already are the ones following the circuit. The teams are looking at the same weather online as the rest of us.

I can't wait for the "Mother Nature doesn't like racing" cliche we see trotted out every spring. As though rain in March and April is unprecedented.

That goes hand in hand with "Good job Ratsass Speedway getting the race in tonight after all the rain we've had in the last week. But I really lost a lot of respect for those guys starting the race late and having a rough track".

There is really not a shortage of cars in the Pevely general area. There are roughly 20 cars central Mo that typically support Powri 410 shows. Another 20 from Central Illinois that support MOWA and another 20 that support Farmington Mo weekly 410 show. There are additional teams that run mixed schedules with midget, 410 and 600 multi shows. Then some 410 guys that run wingless but occasionally put a wing on. But WOO pulls very few of these cars. There may be a few more show up this year as you'd assume they now have more room for them to make the A main. Very few will show from Knoxville and IRA.  I think if they get 28 cars it would be successful. But trying to predict car count is impossible. 35 would be a great number. I don't know that a higher number of cars would make a better show.

I'm sorry but it's been raining cats and dogs in that area for nearly a week now. That stuff happens. The only way it could have been avoided that those guys didn't show up and get cancelled on is if they'd have cancelled a week ago, and that too would have drawn complaints.I've seen WOO go to Cali and cancel for damn near three weekends straight. It is what it is. Dirt racing this time of year is sketchy at best.

How many times have we seen the Pevely spring show cancel? Same with Knoxville spring WOO show, it's a waste of time. That thing has about an 85% chance of a cancellation, IMO. Even if they can race, if it's too cold for anyone to show up, they may cancel it.
