Anyone see were he made mention he wants to get back in a dirt car ? He made the comment he could leave nascrap at the end of this contract and run WoO sprint car full time. He also talked about how he would like to get in a SLM.

I believe you are misquoting portions of Kyle's interview from WoO's Open Red Podcast.

I don't see him leaving NASCAR any time soon. He knows what's paying his bills and keeping momma Larson happy along with financing his sprint car hobby. Maybe after a few NASCAR championships and a few shots at the Indy 500......

Yes, Huge mis quote there. He said he still has goals of running the full WoO tour in the future. He also said he doesn't forsee that happening for quite a few years. Nascar pays the bills, sprint cars gives him the fun. when hes made his way in nascar, I can see him coming back, though being he is only what, 25 or 26? I bet that won't be until the better part of 15-20 years goes by.

I think he said he would leave nascar. Sure he knows what pays the bills. It's also like going to a job that your really not satisfied at, but yes it pays the bills. Look at the drivers that have left nascrap the last 2 yrs. Gordon, Jr., Stewart, Edwards. They all lost that inner drive. Jr got his bell rung and Edwards had a couple hard crashes. But if that inner drive was still there every one of them would still be in the seat. Larson, wants to go back to dirt racing. He said he could see himself leaving at the end of the contract, will he, heck no, the money drivers make today keeps him there. How long is the question now ? I think in 5 yrs, which I think could be sooner, you will see him back on dirt. Stewart is having fun racing again, Jr saw Edwards leave and it planted the seed. Getting the concussion and a healthy dose of losing that drive he gave up. He said he would be taking his late model and going Saturday night racing. Gordon is just a d*ck. Growing up in Indiana you would think he would get behind a local driver. Nadda, squat. Edwards has fallen off the face of the earth.

ditto, need to read in entirety
and if you remember two years ago he asked chip. "when can i run one of your indy cars"? chip "when you start winning in nascar"! imo two years from now he will be testing for the indy 500. if kurt bush can run indy, kyle can! again, just MY opinion...

Chip lets him run 25 shows a year, in his contract. the key word in the article is "I Want To"...

When asked when he might go WoO full time, his response was that.........sometimes I think I'll do it when this contract is over...... (then follows it up with)......but I'm only 25 and there's a lot of money to be made in NASCAR so if I wait another 10 years and stay healthy I'll be 35....... I can still then go run probably 15 years or so with the Outlaws.......That's pretty close to word for word.
I liked his answer when he was aked about his driving style......he said he was aggressive.....but not like Jac or Sheldon. Said he could also run smooth when he needed to.....but not loke Schatz in the middle.......

I agree with most of what you are saying except for the part about Gordon. You say he's a dick because he won't get behind a local driver, am I reading that correct? Sorry that's what's wrong with America these days. So because he has a lot of money he should just give it to a local racer? Is it now a requirement that if you have a lot of money that you should just give it to someone else?

No......he can do whatever he wants with his money and shouldn't catch any flack for it. He risked his life to earn it! It's pretty well known that he contributes a substantial amount.......and I think helping ill children is one of his concerns. I remember when autism was high priority with him, in conjunction with Evernham, who I believe had an autistic child.I'd like to see Jeff around the race tracks, but for the first time in his adult life, he's free from the grind of racing commitments, and can focus on his family first and foremost. Good for him!

This is a lot bullshit being slung from behind a keyboard.
You do realize Edwards is the youngest of those drivers you named and he is 11-12 years older than Kyle right? A lot of things change especially in that age range. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Jeff and Dale wanting a more normal family life at this point in their life. It has nothing to do with "drive" and everything to do with having different priorities. Stewart is still heavily involved in racing except on his own terms. No idea about Edwards but he is just like the rest. They all have a nice chunk of change and can go do what they want on their own terms. That is a pretty awesome situation to be in if you ask me. Not to mention that doing any one thing for 30+ years will wear on almost everyone. Especially when you consider the intense schedules of higher level racing.

A few years ago, Larson was on one of those panels at the hall of fame during the Nationals and stated he would like to race 20 years in nascar and run the WoO tour when he was in his 40s.
I could see him doing what Stewart has done, but as long as Cup money is as good as today, I don’t see him leaving.
I do wonder how long the Cup money, which really is driven by tv revenue will be this good. I wonder if the next tv deal will be in the same ball park. That might also impact when he chooses to leave.

Too bad we won't get a full year of Larson v. Schatz on the Outlaws tour while Donny is still in his prime. Maybe it will be Larson v. Gravel by the time Kyle is ready for dirt full-time, guessing 12-15 years from now.

I clearly said he would like to leave but he won't because of the money to be made. As for Edwards 2 runs at the title he finished second twice. That takes huge amounts of commitment and I don't think he had it in him anymore. The same with Jr. Today's cars are not the same as when he came into the big leagues. I don't think he enjoys racing the car of today. He said he would be taking his late model on occassion to go do some local racing. Why do you think that is ? He still enjoys racing, as long as it' not nascrap. As for Gordon, I don't expect him to spend any of his millions to help out a struggling racer. He could easily be a part owner he chooses not too. Open wheel cars advanced his career like no other. Be nice to see someone like Balogh get some help tossed his way.

He runs the middle all the time..................of course it is only briefly when he is sliding from the bottom up to the wall and vise versa!!! But, he does use the middle----if only for a quick pass thru! ;)

I can promise that if I retired as young as Jeff Gordon and I had his kind of wealth, I'll be damned if I'd be throwing it down the rat hole that is sprint car racing. I don't love it nearly that much. I'd still go to some races mainly in other parts of the country because I've seen more than my share of races here at home but I'd be doing a lot of other things that have nothing to do with racing. I'd do a lot of traveling and seeing the world and my family and friends would be taken care of first. I don't blame Gordon one bit. Racing did a lot for him and he's done a lot for racing. He still speaks fondly of sprint cars but he has his own priorities in life and I say good for him. There's way more to life than racing. Blowing my money on a sprint car would be the last thing I'd do.

Thats funny
Makes sense, unfortunately
But plenty of people here seem to think the opposite way
