Was  wondering why the backup plan wasn't used for the Williams Grove Nationals weekend ?, which I believe was suppose
to be this week , Thursday and Friday ? does anyone know why ? And it seems to me it would have been better even those two  days instead of this past Sunday .But it seems to me ,the track ,  the fans and drivers lose again .

Right on schedule.  It's been 4 to 6 weeks.

I rarely waste my time replying to Robert (clueless) Altman but how much dumber can he be?? The track ran on the Sunday rain date like they had on their schedule all year and still paid the regular Saturday night purse with it being a one day event when they easily could of cut the purse. But I guess it would of made more sense to run on a Thursday which wouldn't of attracted much of a crowd then try to race the final day on Friday which already has storms in the forecast. So then when Friday night gets rained out you just opened up a whole other can of worms to scramble and try and find a date to make the race up again. Each time Altman posts something on here it simply amazes me how stupid he is AND get ready folks because he will be starting his usual rant about how they need to improve the World Finals in Charlotte in a couple weeks.

That decision is made by the promoter and Woo officials. Would have thought moving it to this week Thursday and Friday the promoter would have had a shot to break even compared to running it last Sunday and taking a major loss on the event which I am sure they did. Welcome to the world of being a promoter, feast or famine.

And I'm amazed at the amount of bashing this guy takes for just stating his opinion. Have you ever met him? Don't read his posts - then you won't have to "waste your time" replying, as you say. He pays his money to attend races like the rest of do. He has a right to an opinion, like every one else.

So please explain, exactly what did the fans and teams "lose" by racing on the advertised raindate for a full purse??????

Exactly, give him a few minutes to come up with another idiotic rant on why running on the advertised rain date was a bad idea.

To be honest, I don't think his post is idiotic at all. I understand why they did what they did, but that was the least buzz I've ever felt at a National Open.

Fans "lost" because they didn't get to see 2-3 nights, just one night on a surface which was less than ideal to start.

It is what it is, no one is necessarily at fault, just a bad situation.

But to bash him in this case is the wrong response, imo.

Yeah this should be good if it even happens. If it goes how it usually does, he won't have any particular reason for saying what he said without admitting that he just doesn't like Williams Grove or the World of Outlaws and he was only trying to find something to bitch about.

No it isn't because he's implying that somehow running Thursday and Friday would have been better. Maybe it would've but then again, maybe not. The fact is, the smart thing to do as a promoter is get the show in as soon as possible if you have to reschedule. What if you decide to not run Sunday despite the nice weather and reschedule for Thursday and Friday of the following week just to get rained out again? We're toward the end of the season so we're quickly running out of dates. Any promoter with a functioning brain is NOT going to take that risk. I don't care what anyone says, Williams Grove did as good of a job handling this situation as anyone could. It doesn't get much worse than what they were dealing with. I'll guarantee you one thing, if it wasn't a World of Outlaws show and this happens at Port Royal, he'd not have a damn thing to say about it. Furthermore, I'll be willing to bet that he wasn't even there yet still he's bitching about how they handled it. If he was there, then he's a damn hypocrite because all he rarely makes a post on this forum without taking a jab at the World of Outlaws.

HA!  Good one.

How's it going Maddog?  I have some channel surfing to do tonight.  Want to watch the banner raising at the UC but also need to see my Cubbies eliminate the Bucs!  (I know you said you gave up on baseball but are you at least slightly interested this year?)

Talk to you soon!

How was the crowd? It had a title sponsor.

Don't just assume they lost money.

As a season ticket holder the fans lost by losing two more nights making it ten for the year not counting the Sat. Series, my question is do the people that went home and did not stay for Sunday get their money back for Sat. since they ran Sunday?

I know at Lincoln if they use the raindate and you dont come back you lose.

Surely the Grove loses all the refunds from Thursday and Friday but I am not sure about Saturday.

The drivers that lost the most were the Outlaws who always seem to do better on the second night (Although with the weakness of this years group I dont know how much difference it made)!i

With my Football team doing so well, so far, it just seems WRONG to have Hockey thrust upon us so soon.  This regular season snuck up so fast.  I have no interest in watching the Cubs, win or lose, or ANY Baseball for that matter. You know that proverbial saying, watching paint dry?   I am coming down from my most event-full schedule of attending races.  It's been go go go.  My Daughter and I went to Lambeau for the Monday nighter, I'm worn out.  LOLOL  We will have to get together in the off season for a game.
