I see a new trend- rich people buying race tracks. Tony Stewart, Tod Quiring, Chuck Brennan. They all seem to have the idea to make the facilites nicer and fans will come.

Huset's already has a sort of ring/history to the name from the years on which is was built. Badlands Motor Speedway.... ehhh. Okay I suppose. Its not about the name as long as the racing is still good I just see no real reason to change names even if ownership changes. Its a awesome track with a great setting so I hope they have big plans for getting more sprints there. Does anyone know if Badlands entertainment is more into door banger or Sprint? That would be interesting to know.

The fact that they're changing the name says to me the owner is tone-deaf to both fans, and the history of the facility. Not impressed. WWTSD? This makes me sad.

Skulls are cool right? Lets put skulls on the logo and change the name to something that has *zero* relevance to the location of the track. It'll be wicked awesome. /s

"We are planning a massive facelift for this iconic family racing facility and have budgeted millions in improvements over the next several years," said Brennan. "It will continue to be known as Huset's Speedway through the 2015 season and will be operated by the current owners.  At the end of the season it will officially become Badlands Motor Speedway for the 2016 season. It will be one of many entertainment options from Badlands Entertainment Group."

----------------

I grew up going to Huset's and have attended races there since 1974.

I guess I don't see what the problem with a group of people willing to put up a lot of money to make improvements to the facility...to make it better for the fans and teams.

I wish them and the track the best of luck. Short track racing needs people that are willing to invest in its future.

It's too bad they're getting rid of the name, but plenty of racing people will still refer to it as Husets.  If the Rubins are removed from the picture, that's a win... and a mighty big one at that!!

Someone is investing millions of dollars into dirt track racing, you are calling the owner tone-deaf and you dont like their logo.

Fill out an application and get them going in the right direction.

Here is the link for you http://www.badlandspawn.com/employment/

We are looking forward to see your changes!

Interesting. It's good that this company is going to put money into the track and the sport, but I feel like changing the Huset's name is a bit counterproductive because Huset's Speedway is a name that people know. Oh well, it's their money, their track and they can do as they please.

Well said. Huset's needs new life put into it, and has loads of potential to be amazing, but currently I am very nervous.

An awesome day for the area. A group is pouring in millions to my hometown track. There is finally hope for the bullring after it was dying a slow, painful death the last decade. This is going to be a venue not only for races, but concerts and many other attractions. Thank you Chuck Brennan and your group for saving this amazing race track.

Old Tilman  Huset must be rolling over in his grave and Fred Buckmiller probably kicked the lid off of his coffin.

It will be called Husets for years no matter what its name is.

This is beyond sad.

I'm five hours from Husets and about six hours from Knoxville so whenever we get an itch to spend ten our twelve hours in the car we head south.   Nevertheless, I read every post on the boards and keep up with all the tracks regardless of whether I get to them very often or not.  One thing I can't help but notice is that every season for years now the message boards are buzzing with complaints about the Husets owners.

Now the track has been sold and it's "beyond sad?"

That is beyond irony.  Maybe they weren't so bad after all?  wink

The Badlands are 281 miles West of what is currently known as Huset's Speedway, why not call it Chippewa National Forest Speedway?

Anyone that knows Chuck and what he's about.....well they would be skeptical of this. He already said VIP......I repeat VIP. Sorry but it's a dirt track it does not draw your VIP type crowd and your average dirt track race fan could careless about the facility as long as they pay the racers and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg for food and beer. You don't get rich owning or running a dirt track. You own it and run it because you live and breathe it.....see Tony Stewart. Sure Husets can use some minor improvements....but a name change is not one of them and as someone else said the Badlands are over 6 hours to the west. He could put up a New led scoreboard and increase the racers purse and call it good. Time will tell but put this dirt race fan as one who would of rather seen a REAL dirt race fan buy the place.

One of the main complaints about the Rubins is that they were greedy. If you think prices are gonna go down you are in for some real sticker shock. The days of saving a seat with a blanket are over, but hey you'll be able to fork over a bundle for your Badlands Speedway VIP experience. Lol
