Huset's already has a sort of ring/history to the name from the years on which is was built. Badlands Motor Speedway.... ehhh. Okay I suppose. Its not about the name as long as the racing is still good I just see no real reason to change names even if ownership changes. Its a awesome track with a great setting so I hope they have big plans for getting more sprints there. Does anyone know if Badlands entertainment is more into door banger or Sprint? That would be interesting to know.

I would say Badlands entertainment is into 80s hair metal more than sprints and late models and the life philosophy of Don King.

I am happy to see that the new owner plans to put money into Husets. However  first impressions of this make me leary. Too much emphasis on other uses for the track and not enough talk about what is planned for racing. Hopefully sprint cars will be a regular part of the racing program or else you won't be seeing me there.

Oh no doubt he'll pour money into it but does it really need money poured into it. The main need is a decent scoreboard. All the events he throws are all about your VIPs and caters to that crowd. Dirt track racing has some of that but not on a large scale. You're talking about a facility that's used for 4 month's out of the year if you're lucky. I see lots of concerts in the future of the old husets. For the people on here talking about all the money he's gonna pour into it....well be careful of what u wish for that's all I can say.

Someone is investing millions of dollars into dirt track racing, you are calling the owner tone-deaf and you dont like their logo.

Fill out an application and get them going in the right direction.

Here is the link for you http://www.badlandspawn.com/employment/

We are looking forward to see your changes!

I'll gladly give you one dollar for ten dollars tomorrow. If Husets was stuck with barracudas for owners, they just got taken over by a great white shark.

Bummer. Any racing is better than no racing!

While I really dont like the thought of a name change, but change is inevitable.

The grandstands need to be gone thru with a fine toothed comb to make sure that they are safe, to begin with, primarily the traffic areas.  This needs to be done even before the scoreboard, IMHO. This is a liability issue that wont go away with more years of service and no attention.

I think Chuck Brennan, (although I know very little about him) loves racing. Dollar Loan Center has put up alot of extra money over the past 6 years, with little chance for anything but word of mouth advertising around the racetrack. I commend him for what he has done so far, and wish him al the best in the future.

Should it prosper.. excellent.,

Should it fail...   Ill always remember many great times at Husets Speedway..

As stated in several earlier posts I think a name change to Badlands would be a mistake even if that is the name of the parent corporation. I grew up in South Dakota and I believe that this could cause some confusion since the speedway and the actual Badlands are at opposite ends of the state, about a 6 hour drive from one another. I can see why the new owner might want a name change but I think they should figure out something a little more appropriate to the location. Other than that I will keep my fingers crossed that all turns out for the best.

I can see wanting to make your own identity and all that but the Huset's name is nationally recognized. I would like to see the Huset's name stay in some way even if it would be like Huset's Speedway at Badlands Entertainment Complex.

Some sort of change is long overdue, however. Over the last several seasons, the place has become kind of a shit hole. But, it's racing and on a Sunday night. The only races around.

The Sear's Tower in Chicago has been renamed a couple of times.  What do people call it?  SEAR'S TOWER.  Let them rename it, it is the same damn place.  Wilmot Raceway was originally the Kenosha County Speedway.  Then it was changed to Wilmot Speedway, until the ass clowns that were running it got kicked out of their lease and stole most everything that was on the grounds, including the name.  It is now called Wilmot Raceway.  My point is that it is the same place.  It happens everywhere.  People bitch about current owners, cry to have them sell it, and when someone steps up and offers a plan to resurrect, people get all shit faced because they change the name.  Who cares??????????

I see a new trend- rich people buying race tracks. Tony Stewart, Tod Quiring, Chuck Brennan. They all seem to have the idea to make the facilites nicer and fans will come.

Chuck might have lots of cash but very little racing knowledge like for Tony & Todd have that I'm aware of, except for sponsoring  the track & having watch some races.

I'm curious to know if he is running the racing operations part, or will he hire someone like Steve Rubin to do this for him.

Let's see what he does in improvements to the speedway. Even though It does sound like the improvements will begin this summer.

You sure do have some opinions here as to what will happen with the new owner.  I'm curious as to why you just joined under this user name yesterday?  Maybe you should wait to see what happens instead of speculating what will happen to Husets.  I actually like the way Husets was run, we have to remember at the end of the day, its a for profit business.  With that being said, change can be good.  We need to open our minds to new ideas.  Sometimes in business its change or die.  Look at all the tracks that are closing.  Have you ever owned your own business?  This comes with lots of stress and money does not come easy.  Thanks to the Rubin family.  I hope the fish are biting!

First off that's what message boards are for...opinions. Number two, not that it's any of your business but I haven't been on this board for awhile and the user name I choose is one I've used for years on multiple message boards concerning racing. There isn't one thing I posted that people that know personally or or as associate to CB that isn't truth. Also although I don't know personally many owners of dirt tracks, I do know that many many have said if you think you're gonna make a profit maybe you should be in another business. Its a high risk business and most that are in it live and breathe dirt racing. No doubt CB has all kinds of cash to piss away, that however does not mean he won't want to recoup that....dirt fans don't love to hand over cash for fancy seats and urinals made of gold. Its a Damn dirt track. Pay the racers keep up the track and call her good. Some of the best tracks and races I've ever seen were at modest facilities. Its not about the VIP booths and stands....it's about the races on the track and those who are racing. I had my complaints about the old owners like anyone else....but in the general scheme of things they weren't horrible in my book. Been a lot of tracks with far worse. The name is horrible though....I u wanna change it fine...your money...but geez horrendous choice. Guess black hills speedway is already in use....in the actual black hills. Wonder why Tony Stewart didn't change eldoras name?

The new owner of Huset's, Chuck Brennan, said, "Every arena in the country, or ballpark, is named after corporate America."

Obviously, that isn't true.

Many of the great ones - Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Dodger Stadium, Lambeau Field, Soldier Field, etc. - have remained the same. Those owners know the value of tradition, even though they could make millions every year for corporate naming rights.

The sports venues that have corporate names are places where previous facilities have been razed and rebuilt, often in a different location. If Chuck plans to bulldoze the track and build a new one, then I have no problem with a new name, because it would no longer be the track Til Huset created over 60 years ago.

I think it's great that Chuck plans to spend millions on improvements at the track. But I hope he also has plans to make it primarily a sprint car track once again, which it once was when it really thrived.

Honestly, I think this will be a good thing. I'm not a fan of the logo or name change but whatever. I do think this guy is a race fan and I think he will improve the track. I am guessing that his vision is "Knoxville North". The Yahoo article mentions that he wants to build a hall of fame on site and have it be a year round attraction, that's a good thing. He wants to add some VIP stuff, that's a good thing. Think about it, it will bring in more money for the track. It could bring in new potential sponsors for the drivers, that's a great thing.

Chuck Brennan is the type of guy that likes to go big. I'm guessing there will be some big shows in Huset's future. He seems like the type that would want to have the highest purse, just so he could brag about it. I could see the back area where there is parking get upgraded into a camping area, for concerts or racing. I could see some multi night shows, it would not surprise me to see them be a part of the month of money. This guy loves attention and he has deep pockets. I think some big things are going to happen here.

And the name change too Rob.  If it still had the name Huset's in the Speedway name, I wouldn't have a problem with the additional name the Brennan has.

I've seen four TV interviews with this guy and I've heard NOTHING about auto racing. Just concerts, monster trucks, demo derbies and stunt shows
