I think Jason is a great driver but there seems to be a huge contrast in when he races with the ASCS and the World of Outlaws. Obviously the competition is different but I am talking more on his driving alone. I have seen many races and he is on a rail and he is tough to beat with the ASCS. I watch him with the World of Outlaws and he seems squirly and just not on his game. Watching him with the ASCS he looks like he should be racing with the WoO but then he shows up to a WoO race and never really does any good. Is the motor power that causes this? Does he get nervous? Or is it just me?

Anyone else notice?

Id go with motor and the way the car reacts. If your "nervous" you shouldnt be out there. Guys that get in sprint cars have balls the size of beach balls and get off on the adrenaline rush.

I get you think they are all bad asses but there is something to be said about confidence. Maybe nervous is the wrong word. He has been doing it a long time. Jason races with confidence at the ASCS races and I do not see that with the Outlaws. In my opinion anyway.

I would say motor.  He is a 360 racer and probably does not have a $60,000  410 motor.  Chassis set up also.  These guys stop being nervous once the engine fires.

Saw him run third one year at the 410 Nationals. Looked great that night. When you run with the WoO you have to haveeverything just right or you are going to look bad. He just needs to run 410 more regular and he will do fine.

When Jason ran Don Ott power he was able to make the "A" at Kville Nats a few times. Now that he back with Ott, i see his 410(WoO) program improving. Without running with the WoO full time, consistant results are difficult at best.

Something could be said about the tracks too. He knows all the ASCS tracks like the back of his hanD. Since he does t run many 410 shows he doesnt know the track all that well

well this bleecher creature while drinking, thinks Jason done great a few years, then the years with the Ford, there was just too much engine experiments beyound his control.

obstacles of 410 vs 360 that I see

15 to 25 per cent more horsepower torque likely even more

engine weights less so car balance is different

tires

Level of competition ascs often has perhaps 5 drivers that are in the top 50 in country, woo half maybe more on some shows are in top 50

Jason seems to be a true outlaw this year, running WOO ascs and even a 305 race, I think he will get the 410 dialed in and do very well

You arm chair racers are a piece of work. Jason has been racing for twenty plus years and still cannot on a regular basis run with the outlaws. He actually looks like a rookie some nights. Is this not the same Jason that was offered Darrah's ride at KKR before Craig and denied it because he could make more money running with the 360's Now is that a bummer when in an earlier post Darrah was ripped for not being any good but he was happy to take the ride that all of you arm chair racers say should be for someone like Jason. He has been racing longer then Darrah is old. Running a 360 compared to a 410 is like taking a lunch break down the back stretch waiting for the turn three to come by.

lol, well to straighten your facts out a bit, he did have that ride before Darrah, it was the 19 then, he was fired not too long after he got the ride, then craig dollansky got the ride, and then was also let go after some time.... don't think J J turned it down..

Im fully prepared to be blown away by your qualifications that separate you from the rest of  us "armchair" racers. Hopefully tthere's enough room here to list all of ur  achievements. Looking forward to finding out how we've all been in the presence of a future hall of famer and didn't even know it.

He didnt get fired he just plain didnt take the ride because he was to make more money going back as a past champion. And for Craig he also left not fired and Darrah took the 19 for the last race at Charlotte

I have never raced anything in my life but I have seen many races so I think I am intitled to my opinion on a forum. Having that said, I KNOW Jason is a great driver. I am just stating that he is just on different levels with the two different groups.

I point this out because there are plenty of drivers that go from 360 to 410 and they seem to run better. Just what I am seeing.

The guy is one of the most accomplished drivers year in and year out and you think he doesn't drive with confidence? I think this is a bit of a bold statement. If anything, he most likely just does not have the money invested in his 410 program as he does elsewhere. When he ran weekly in the 22 car in PA he won quite a few races and was always up front on a weekly basis. Jason Johnson is more than capable of winning on a nightly basis and would have to be considered a threat anytime he straps inot a racecar for the night. Some nights...its just not your night
