Tried to watch Dirtvision at Volusia tuesday night. It was terrible. It was worse than terrible. The sound would go on and off and the picture I think they call it scrolled on and off. If you think Dirtvision was bad alot of the time last year, this was worse. After last year I would think Dirtvision would have the Tech. to take care of problem. I do not think I saw 1 full lap of racing. Gave up after heat races.

That sounds like a pretty accurate description of DirtVision's coverage. They absolutely suck. I wouldn't give them another $0.10 for their terrible stream.

Apparently I was in the minority of those who had buffering issues as well. Most reported a very solid stream... not sure why mine (and linbob's) was bad but believe DV and T2media will figure it out and fix it.

Dirtvision has been trying to "figure it out and fix it" since they started and still haven't by the sounds of it.

Had the pleasure of meeting some of the staff last year, and empathize with them more now. The bandwidth used uploading streaming video is overwhelming to the IT infrastructure at most tracks.
Also the quality of live tv coverage we're used to in other sports requires huge investment in video equipment: ok for shows whose audience could be in millions. Because I love sprint cars I think the right tv program could bring 1 million viewers, but in reality I bet WRG is glad if they get 10,000 paying viewers. So they get by with what they have and don't plop down the cash it would take for an awesome tv truck.
Personally I think theCushion coverage is great. Edited beautifully. Don't know the extent of relationship between Turn2Media and WRG, but hope it grows and Turn2 begins to turn out footage faster. Because yes it may be most fun to watch live, but if I could wake up and see the whole night in under and hour over breakfast the next morning - I'd be one happy fan.

The part i don't get is the bandwith..etc excuse. Every XSAN broadcast is crisp (pretty much HD), and they are out at similar tracks. Last night, I felt like i was watching historical footage of a race in the 1990s. When the cars were on the back stretch you couldn't even make out color or number of the cars (ie can't tell who's who). If they want to sell the fact that due to increaes in production value..etc they have raised the costs...I don't see it..if anything this year is worse than last years. The XSAN broadcast at Bubba was quality...Dirtvision at Volusia..not so much.

I wanted to get a yearly package but they told me they're not offering one anymore. They're only offering the 2 Dirtcar National packages and then it will be an individual or weekend pass throughout the season. No thanks. Especially after reading everyone having problems with coverage, I'll save my money. What a shame.
do it in the dirt

Just wondering how some of y'all would price things if DV was your business venture. Lose money to please a few or make money and piss off several?

Their business model is the problem. The World of Outlaws-Dirtvision- should be trying to grow their fan base and you do that not by charging high prices for subpar online streams that alienate huge groups of potential fans. They need to seek out paying advertisers that bridge the financial gap and dont make the viewing audience carry that financial burden solely on their backs. Its a flawed model, they need to rethink it. I have some newly converted sprint car fans that I've tried to get to watch online streams and its like pulling teeth even when I let them watch the stream I paid for. Unless you're a true diehard fan the quality of the overall production is lacking and less than entertaining to most people. If it was cheaper more people might be willing to over look the amateur production quality and the spotty at best stream reliability.
Cheers!

Have to agree with the poster.... tried it before and I have good high speed internet, stream quite a bit... but it was sub par quality and now they're raising prices this much? Naaa

I'm watching it right now on my iPad in a hotel in Arkansas on a wireless system and it has been flawless all night. Two thumbs up here.

You can't buy the package this year. There isn't one to buy.
And the double the price statement, well that double is just for the first two. The first one this year is the same as last year's package, and the next one is the same as last year's package. So you will be double already having barely started. 100% increase after the first two. I'm guessing when all is said and done, you will be looking at well over 1000% increase if you want to watch all shows.

I had ZERO problems with the feed. Sure it wasn't the crispest picture I've ever seen, but it's way better then nothing! If the video is not for you, just listen to Johnny for free, he's the best in the business.
