Nice to see Dave Reiff involved (Shane as well) involved with this new show.  Smart guy, keen guy and one helluva funny guy which most likely won't come out.  If you ever get a chance to chat with this character, Do It!

Great to see this IA boy back in our sport!!!

Just watch this advertisement on repeat for an hour:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOfLAvbbv6k

Sensationalistic crap is what was presented with the first show. Apparently race footage was tough to come by as they repeated and repeated the same shit over and over. Oh and crashes are why people should watch sprint cars in case anyone was wondering. They better offer up something better for the actual racing shows or this will be a complete flop. Also am I the only person who finds that Shane guy really annoying? Just cant stand his style of shtick. Maybe the Outlaws are going after the fake wrestling fan demographic.

Cheers!

I watched it, reminded me of the "top 10" shows that Speed ran for NASCAR last year and the year before.

What really stuck out at me was the lack of footage available for use.  It was painfully obvious that the Outlaws don't own any footage of the shows on TNN, ESPN or SpeedTV, just the Outdoor Channel stuff and the World Finals shows from teh last 4-5 years (so they had a limited amount of footage to pull from and even further compounding that fact is they obviously threw the CBS Sports Network deal together rather quickly, so all the interviews are basically from the week the deal came together (WG National Open) through about last week.

I think they will do ok once they start the racing as each night will have enough drama built in to fill the time slot (and every week gave them more time to look for footage to incorporate into the shows).

I personally don't care for Shane Andrews, but when they do the Late Model and Big Block Modifieds, he'll have the most knowledge by far (and the Late Model and Big Block fans seem to think he's GREAT).

Had the deal come together and they had more time to put something together for broadcast, I think they may have made some deals to get rights to footage and they could have shown the RACING (3 way battle for the WIN during hte Nationals in 88 featuring Blaney, Bobby Davis, Jr and Steve Kinser), and they still could have shown the spectacular wrecks (face it people, they are attempting to get EYEBALLS watching the show. Like it or not, the wrecks will attract people and the racing will keep them hooked).

I wouldn't say it was terrible, but for people that are already hooked on World of Outlaws racing, it was a let-down for sure....

The Steve kinser altercation with the official was the best part of the show.

I was really disappointed with the "Wow" episode. My expectations were low, but it was even worse than I expected.

For those of you who missed it, CBS Sports Network kicked off a new series by highlighting the top 10 reasons the WoO's are the greatest show on dirt. Their top 10 looked something like this;

  1. Tyler Walker
  2. Kinser's Angry
  3. Wild Wrecks
  4. Wild Wrecks
  5. Wild Wrecks
  6. Wild Wrecks
  7. Slide Jobs (I actually like this one)
  8. Wild Wrecks
  9. Wild Wrecks
  10. Wild Wrecks

Really!?! That's the best you could do? The entire show highlighted the dark side of this great sport and then capped it off by glorifying a drug addict. WTF!

Not only did they screw up the top 10, they also tried to highlight the makeup of a sprint car. The camera zoomed in on a radius rod while they spewed nonsense about an in-out box.

The technical highlights should have been better and the focus should have been on the positives; like the characters of the sport (like how Steve Kinser got his start); like the schedule and the history associated with places like Knoxville or Williams Grove; like the event format and how it’s different than NASCAR; etc.

Highlighting the intense nature of the sport should have been one of the ten, but to show wreck after wreck was complete nonsense. And then to cap it off with T-Dub, who isn’t even racing anymore, was complete bullshit!

Yes, thought it was pretty much a dud, thought there was going to be some racing.... Lot of old video, had Mark Kinser on the track and when was the last time he raced?  Had Andy Hillenburg in the STP #2 car, how long ago was that.

But on the other hand, I guess it was better then nothing at all.

Agreed, we'll see how they do with an actual race next week. I am happy to see sprint car racing get a shot with a new network though.

Is Brad Doty doing the color commentary for this? for some reason I was under the impression he would be but then last nights episode not a mention of him.

I knew immediately it would be pretty generic... right before it started the female commentator on the show before it gave a "coming next" teaser in which she mentioned that EVERYWHERE the outlaws race they have to face tough local drivers know as "POSSE MEMBERS"....hahaha...and the technical introduction to a sprintcar was pretty hilarious...my son, young and completely uninterested in racing, would have known more accurate details about the car than somebody who watcheed that piece.

And yeah, the thing that stuck out the most to me was the lack of footage they had to draw from...but I completely understand why. Very few Outlaw races on TV the last several years coupled with a network who has never aired an outlaws race.

Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

I can’t believe they featured Tyler Walker. I’m still fuming! A complete lapse in judgment! Imagine NASCAR putting together a promotional clip that features Jeremy Mayfield. Complete and utter stupidity!

With that said, I agree that something is better than nothing. I was at the National Open and the atmosphere was electric! I hope they can capture a small piece of what was a very special night.

Exactly right. After years of trying to convince people that I do not and have never went to races to see wrecks the WoO basicly stabs me and all real fans in the back by highlighting mostly crashes in their top 10 reasons to watch sprint car racing.

FIRST Thankful that someone is willing to have a show on such an awesome sport that should be promoted. BUT, From a racers perspective the show was pretty CORNY. the repetiie point of having to keep going through the 10,9,8 back to the 10,9,8 again  to be a time filler. Footage was old. In the preview they said they would show the young/guns they showed photos of Mcmahon and Madsen which was never covered and plus no Disrespect they are not the young guns but am fan or theyres.  this is not a proper ctitical report but merely a point of view and all in all . GLAD WOO got some exsposure, but disappointed on how and what was shown

I tried to watch it but couldn't. Who are your TV providers? My damn cable bill is near $200.00 a month and I was unauthorized to view that channel! Midco has lost me for good, no MAVTV and now not authorized  for this. Looks like I will be going to Direct TV.

right around $90 per month is what I pay for DirecTV and I get both MavTV and the CBS Sports Network on my package

#1: The show wasn't SUPPOSED to be geared towards folks on here or who are already knowledgeable about sprint car racing. It was to get interest piqued for the non-fan. They want to bring in people other than the couple of thousand who will watch the weekly shows anyway. And, like it or not, wrecks may get that done. They have to grab the people's attention somehow.

#2: Yes, I found it boring and extremely repetitive. However, the worst part was the 1960's porn 'stache of that Reiff guy. You couldn't see his chin spinach unless the light hit his face exactly right. Otherwise all you saw was that pencil-thin growth on his upper lip.

I too hope that it will get better, but as was pointed out already, they were in a time crunch to get this together. Let's wait to pass judgement until we see a couple of actual races.

I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

Pretty lame, hope it gets better. A tiny step in the right direction.

Now if they had some LIVE racing, I'd be impressed
