Looking for food suggestions for my website: www.FoodAroundTheTrack.com
Need some ideas around Eldora for the upcoming truck series race.
And, looking at doing something around Knoxville for the Nationals while there doing Winged Nation.

At Knoxville Rib shack next to the hall of fame has great BBQ. Also inside the track at the far west concession stands the chicken finger basket is a pretty good deal for $5 you get like 4-5 chicken strips that are really moist and good and alot of fries could easily feed 2 kids great value.

GOOD LUCK!!! Good food in the midwest consists of McDonalds and pizza. its the issue we suffer from the most when in Kville. Take plenty of constipation meds, with all the crap and junk food there you'll need it!!! Best bet, eat in Des Moines and pray.

Typical hoseheads thread. 3 or 4 posts in, & people are insulting & bickering already. *sigh... anyway, when I was in Knoxville, I learned about the Amana colonies. The butcher counter at the hyvee across the street from the track sells their beef. Very high quality, I believe hormone & antibiotic free. I could tell right away by looking at the steaks they were going to be amazing. So if you don't mind doing some grilling, I highly recommend a trip there for some steaks. You won't be disappointed. I did eat at rib shack too, enjoyed my food.

The Amana beef at Hy-Vee is actually not from the Amana Colonies, but still good. At the Nationals there will be a small tent show up on the northeast side of the ticket office with the best crab rangoon there ever was. Bianchi Boys pizza is now across the street from the track by Dingus, also very good. Swamp Fox restaurant downtown is great and the Coffee Connection downtown has great coffee and breakfast.

I dont know if Knoxville had them, but I remember the sweet corn at the Newton Indy race a few years ago. I couldn't stop eating them.

We eat at least twice at the Iowa cattle Association set up at the front entrance of the track. The ribeye sandwich and sweet corn is awesome.
BTW Steve, as an add on, when at the Grove or Lincoln try Culhane's steakhouse off of I-83.

Green Onions slathered with cream cheese, season with Cavenders all purpose Greek Seasoning,, roll up in a slice of smoked ham (walmart great value is fine) lunch meat, season top with paprika and cayenne to taste. Refridgerate. Fast, easy cheap and Gooood.

We have the Fareways butchers slice Ribeyes up in 3/16" thick slices, Toss on the grill for about 3 minutes,
Butter and toast the buns on the grill. Awesome
(Season ribeye slices with Dales Seasoning for a hour or two, even better)

The last time I was in Iowa, my Uncle sacrificed a chicken...
Needless to say, I didn't eat the chicken or the lumpy style mashed potatoes... :/
