I am amazed by his decision. Cancel friday show, and states he will run Saturday, "no matter what". I believe he canceled friday prelim show out of pure greed. If you attended the Devils Bowl the last several years, the friday night turnout on prelim night is terrible. So by canceling friday he is off the hook purse, sanctioning fees and overheads.
And now for his buddy Emmett Hahn..................he reduces the purses and forces several of the National Tour drives travel hundreds of miles for a one day show.i believe Emmett should have forced Lanny to delay the show one week.
When its the Lanny/Emmett show, you know the fans and teams will suffer
Just sayin'

So, there will be no chance of rain next weekend either days and it would be a "done deal" getting those shows in and no risk of that weekend being awash if it were to rain right?
I am sure Carol or one of the other locals will tell you how much it rained and that Friday was a good deal to cancel. Weather is suppose to be perfect for Saturday night, a one day show is better all the way around. Gives an extra day to dry things out.
There are those who always have a conspiracy theories in this racin deal. Gotta love it.

Sorry, no Kool-Aide drinker here. Just stating how I feel as a sprint car fan, who just happens to do PR for NCRA. So no connection to Lanny nor ASCS. Sorry.

I can tell you first hand that as of 0700 today the infield had water standing in it. No way to race on it tonight.
Why are some of you so intimidated by Mr Lanny and Mr Emmett? If you spent as much time trying to help sprintcar racing as you do picking out your perceived wrongs things might be better in our sport.

Greed means you are making money
Not loosing money is good busness
How do you make money without a show ?

so a couple of guys with opinions on something is a perceived wrong.
Does that still apply if those perceived wrong opinions are in agreement with the person you so admire in your username?
Question: which ASCS Nat driver lobbied the hardest for both days to be cancelled this weekend?
I don't care either way.....until the double standards kick in.

This will be my first time going to the bowl.....as I live in california and am out visiting my mom in Oklahoma...I hit the Chili bowl in January..and now devils Bowl...life couldnt get much better...
As for the weather out here, let me say unpredictable and awesome...either its 80 degrees with clear and sunny skies...or it completely opposite with 50-60 mph winds with rain, hail, thunder and lightening..worse even is when the Tornado siren goes off when watching your favorite show....and not sure what to do...it has been raining quite a bit here the last few weeks....mesquite got 5 inches in a couple of days and a lake sits in the middle of the famed half mile...
What would you do? I now where I'll be.....
The older I get, the faster I used to be.

You coming back? I got the impression from you know who that you had moved there indefinitely. You closer to OKC or Tulsa?

If Friday is too wet to race, then why not make it a Saturday/Sunday show ?
That way you can still see 2 days of racing.... just asking

RPM Speedway in Crandall is not that far from the Bowl and was supposed to be racing tonight. They also cancelled a couple of days ago. I'm quite sure it was the huge amount of rain and not anything to do with purses or sanctioning fees. If anything, this is one of the few shows at the Bowl that will draw a good crowd and car count this year.

Yes - we had a lot of rain here Monday/Tuesday. I'm 8 miles from the Bowl and got 4 3/4" of rain - and it rained some the next 2 days. I would think the main problem would be the sprint pits off of the back straight. It is flat there - no drainage. I'd bet they've been rolling it for days - also the road back to those pits. I've been there when the trailers bogged down to their axles and it took all night for John Deere to pull the rigs out. As for Sunday - it would have to be a day time show and they always suck. By the way - rain is predicted for next weekend here. AND - RPM's pits are on a slight hill so the rain would readily drain out of there and yet they cancelled for Fri. night, too.
