We have a pretty good idea who is attending this weekend's double header for the USAC Western Classic Racing Series but would like to promote the CRA contenders in our press releases. Does anyone have some info on which teams are making the haul north? It's looking like we could have over 30 and maybe as many as 40 entries for each night's races.

Well depends on how you define a low car count? Right now realistically there are 12 cars each from both WCRS and CRA coming to this show, plus several other teams such as Wes Gutierrez so it would surprise me if the field is under 30 cars. $2500 to win each night is pretty strong too.

From an earlier USAC/CRA post:

Here is some information about the races we have next weekend, Ocean Speedway on Friday, June 17th and Santa Maria Speedway on Saturday, June 18th.

Ocean Speedway will be very strict on the muffler rule because of the state being very strict with them. They suggest that you run the FlowMaster Suitcase, the Spintech Suitcase or the 180 degree mufflers. If they feel you are to loud you will be ask to change them, no questions asked or get parked.
Santa Maria Speedway will be hosting a "Last Man Standing Trophy Dash" for $1000 to win, winner takes all. It will be the Top 4 qualifiers to transfer out of their heat race, and a pill will drawn for line up.
Format:
4 cars, 4 laps, last place pulls off
3 cars, 3 laps, last place pulls off
2 cars (side by side), 2 laps....
Winner takes all!!!
As always the normal tire rule is in affect: 410's is DT3 on the right rear, any Hoosier on the other 3 corners. Cast iron 360 are open to any Hoosiers on all 4 corners.

***USAC/CRA Rules = 410s & 360s ARE NOT RESTRICTED

The 410s wishing to earn WCRS points this weekend will have to run intake restrictors. Also WCRS cars have option of sc15, HTW, or DT5 on the right rear. The WCRS cars will be scored amongst themselves for points purposes.

I'm a little confused. So if we take off the wing and run our 410 (with restrictors) with an SC15 right rear and then we win this thing, is USAC/CRA going to pay us or is the WCRS going to pay us?

If you are not interested in WCRS points, you would want to run by the CRA rules (no restrictor neccessary). The purse will be paid on an overall finish basis of just straight up $2500 for the winner. I'm just saying that for the 360s and restricted 410s running for WCRS points that they will be awarded points based on how they finish amongst WCRS cars.

ya but that place gets slick, so less horsepower and the softer SC15 might be the key to beat those guys, so we might just do that. You guys provide the restrictors right?

Correct but you'll need to call Tommy Hunt with your injector size. (916) 864-8722. May I ask which car you are with?

your tech guy will be busy remebering who has restricted 410 and can run which tire versus unrestricted on dt3 only, will this be policed closely all night in qualifyinh and heats as well as the main or just the main event?

it seems to me it would be easier for these COMBO shows to just have a tire rule that allows ALL teams the option of htw/sc15/dt3 right rear tire and the other 3 corners are open as long as it is a hoosier tire.

it would be a no brainer to tech.

here we go again,WHY do we have all these different specs ?its a 410 CRA show run the CRA specs and be done with it!!

I still don't understand why USAC has at least 3 different "sprint"classes racin in Calif.run 1 set of rules and specs so everyone can run anywhere with no BS.

i say we get rid of all the wings on the sprints and run what i believe is a 373 motor ( believe this is the motor i heard talk about ) and have the tracks get together so as not to overlap each other on the schedules . and i for one would travel to every track that has the show .
