Expanding on Brian's idea, we should send our best "Casanova" to lure her into a relationship and build the track with ol Mickey's money. I nominate Uncle A...

You guys are pathetic. Let it go. Racing's landscape changes everywhere. Los Angeles, Phoenix, Memphis, Chicago and, yes, OKC. You name it. It sucks, but really, is it worth it to just keep bitching and moaning? There are a lot more important things in the world to worry about than the loss of a racing facility that was being kept alive by the influx of cash from an event 100 miles up the turnpike.

Bill, I was just having some fun with it. I was not bitching moaning at all about it.Do not get me wrong divorce sucks anyway you spin it.
Just one question to ask yourself did you do what was needed on your part to help save it, if there was a chance?

Didn't do one darn thing. Do I miss it? Not really. Do I still love racing? Wouldn't say "love" but I am an interested spectator who has found other diversions over the past decade.
I admire the efforts of those of you who tried to save SFS but it's time to let it go. To continually moan about the loss a year later and bitch about a mayor whose power is pretty much symbolic gets kinda old.
Unfortunately for you, Oklahoma City is a thriving, growing, soon-to-be cosmopolitan city that has little interest in racing. The proposed "grand prix" event will be a huge failure if the planners go with ALMS. Racing is off the radar in OKC.

Bill, these kids are only relieving built up pressure from the lose of their childhood. It is only natural for them to do that, and I agree with them. We all know that the Speedway at the Fairgrounds at N.W. 10th and May is gone. I think they are only making light of it.

Wow nonwing bill, if you don't miss it or love it that tells me that you are not a True Racer at Heart, therefore we do not need your negitive post.
I have no need to apologise to you if this is your true feelings. But thank you for sharing.

if he dont care about or love racing then why even be logged in at a racing site???
Mick is a real gem boys, back in 05 I worked for a company that painted his house
and had to threaten a lawsuit just to get paid by him and this is after he signed a satisfactory
agreement saying he was completely satisfied with the work. He stinks to the moon and back!!!!

This will give Mick more free time to work on the Pothole 500 and allow him to spend more time drinking Zima with Jerrod from Subway & the Mathis Brothers

Nonwing bill probably has done more to help promote racing in Oklahoma City than three-fourths of you who post here. He was under Larry Hill's banner in the mid-80's and thought of the three car challenge races for the dirt champs and was always on the phone getting drivers from out of town to come to Fairgrounds Speedway to race on Friday nights. He also drove the pace car in numerous race events and picked up guys from the airport just so they could race here.
Thus, he has a right to speak how he feels just like all of you do.
That is why he is logged in to post on this website as he is still a race fan. Not near as much as he was in the past but still enough to come here and check in.

Thanks Dave for having my back though I'm really pretty thick-skinned. You and I go way back and you're still one of the best. I miss Speedbuggy.
I'm still a race fan. Still check the websites. Still subscribe to NSSN. Still keep in contact with some of the old-timers. Still a realist. Maybe, to quote B.B. King, "the thrill is gone."
