But I really enjoy bitching and moaning. You know, you gotta give the workin man something to do too. We can't all afford to take the family to a Thunder game oe even a Barons game. Guys who get their hands dirty for a living don't want to go to a Regatta festival or to the Devon boat house.

The drag boat deal is pretty sweet and I am thankful to have that once a year but as for Mick, screw him. Anyone that lets big money tell them what to do is just a sorry puppet as far as I am concerned. What ever happened to being a man and standing up to people. Sure he probably wouldn't be mayor but at least he may still be married.

Have to agree with David on his defence of Non Wing Bill and his contributions to racing in this part of the world. While I get a laugh from a lot of the postings on the mayor and Fair Grounds Speedway(it will never be that other name to me), Bill is correct in saying the racing climate has changed forever in Oklahoma City. No drag strip, no dirt track, lots of sold or retired race cars and drivers, lots of fans that have found other activities for Friday night.

Would a new track work in Oklahoma City? Without a doubt is could be a huge success with the right promoter, but the unfortunate part is the several million dollars it would take to build a facility in this time and economy. We are fortunate to have several tracks within driving distance, but it was so convenient to have one in town with easy access and a reasonable start time and finishing time.

For the record, I miss it ... a lot.

nonwing bill, I apologise for acting out in previous post. I know as well as anyone you are an ambassador of our sport. But the thing that really trips my trigger is the fact that the OKC City Council is currently voting to spend some 3.6 Million dollars to renovate the OKC Center when they could not even hold the Ford Center name, and in the news report the Architectural Drawing showed the "Ford Center" prominently displayed.

I am quite certain this facility was built under the current codes and in compliance with all Local, State, and Federal codes including NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency), the NEC (National Electric Code), The ADA (American's Disabilities Act), among other agencies.

This is a resent facility, and I have a hard time believing that this arena has the need for so many of our Tax Dollars.

Hells bells the City of OKC did not even have the funds to clear our city streets during the last Winter Storm. Lets see if the City Council can even get to the City Council Meeting this week to approve of the spending of 3.6 Million of our Tax Dollars.

All I can say is Hollywood dollars are being spent on your and my budget. And we are left without "A Place to Race"

The main reason The OKC Arena is no longer the Ford Center is not really on the City of OKC.

That was the decision of the Oklahoma Ford Dealers & to tell you the truth I can't blame them.

The $$ to have that name on the Arena came from Ford dealers across the state.

It would make no sense for a Ford dealer in Tulsa or any corner of the state like Boise City,Altus,Miami or Poteau to be asked to donate $$ so the Ford name could be on a building 200-500 miles away.
