Wondering if someone might be able to clarify something for me about the IMCA vs UMSS show in Arlington this Saturday?? The Arlington website states that the gear rule will NOT be inforced for this show but the UMSS website states that the 5:64 gear rule WILL be used,,,,,?????
Thanks,
Brian

thats gotta make people happy to see what the sprint cars will do on display saturday nite. The gear rule chokes them off so bad, I watched a good car get beat from a resart. Which begs the question were the other cars running the legal gears????
Anybody from the track racecar tech department wish to comment on this?

I am pretty sure you are talking to me and I would be glad to pull my gears any night of the week. I have raced at Arlington for 7 years now and i have never cheated and never will. It is funny how when a car is winning or is fast they are all of a sudden cheating. No one ever thinks about good set up, good driving, good equipment, etc...... Sprintpusher if you are indeed talking about me, I invite you down to my car anytime and look it over with a fine-tooth comb and if you can find something wrong then you have a point, but if not then don't comment unless you know the truth.
Thanks,
Chris Graf

If you're talking about Cris and his crew with the 20g, you better wake up alittle and quit pushing loser sprint cars. I've known the 20g team for years and they don't have to cheat, they have it figured out.....period! Dave Tabor TW Motorsports

Don't let them get to you. They're just jealous. It takes a good racer to keep fast company.

Sesame Street had it right.....
"One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?"
Just sayin....

did i say that anybody was cheating? has the tech crew been pulling gears or checking stacks? I never accused anybody of cheating! do not put words up on the screen if you can't tell me that they have been doing a thorough job. if I am wrong and they have been checking these items, I will talk to Chris at the track. only he and i will know who this is. I am in no way bashing anyone that can drive a sprint car. I have respect for those with the talent and the courage to do so. I haven't the balls to do it myself.
in closing I will post my name to this thread after this weekends race at Arlington.
I also want to wish everybody good luck and to be safe on saturday nite.

guys all i wanted to do was raise the question is the racetrack tech crew doing their jobs. if not they need to be. I am sure that there are fans in the stands who maybe thought of this, but may not be willing to ask or don't know of a forum that they can ask it on.
Chris does know me. we've talked many times, I don't believe that he would cheat at all !!
he doesn't have to, he does run really well maintaned and quality equiqment.
people that know who I am would have a hard time seeing me as somebody to make an accusation if there wasn't a justifiable reason.
Once again i am not making that accusation in any shape or form.
thanks for reading.

I Understand that you didnt say start up that I was cheating, But it made it sound like you were assumming I wasnt running the right gear. It isnt really that big of a deal anyways, but I do get sick of people saying I am cheating. But I do agree with Sprintpusher that if they are gonna have rules like gear, and stacks then they need to check at least one car a night to police it. I hope we can all just go out and race and have fun now.
See ya at the races,
Chris Graf

"I hope we can all just go out and race and have fun now."
That is exactly what we are intending to do this coming weekend with the UMSS sprints running at Kopellah on Friday night and then the big IMCA vs UMSS Challenge Race #1 at Arlington on Saturday night. Chris Graf has had a great start to the season at Arlington, so he will certainly be a strong contender for the win on Saturday night in the IMCA camp. Several other strong competitors on their home track will be in the mix up front. The UMSS has several very good and talented drivers. Brad Barickman already has a "tune up" win at Arlington this season. It should be a lot of fun for both groups to race with and against each other, as that is exactly what this great sport is about...having fun in the spirit of good competition.
As a reminder, two GRP bonuses will be in effect at Arlington on Saturday night. A $200 bonus to the highest finishing UMSS driver as well as a $200 bonus to the highest finishing IMCA driver. It is quite likely that the feature winner will be a bonus winner unless somebody from outside the regular UMSS and IMCA group of drivers comes in and runs with us. Nonetheless, both race nights should see a good field of cars with plenty of driverS capable of winning. There may even be a GRP bonus or two in effect on Friday night (May 28) at Kopellah depending on car count which I expect to be pretty decent.
The following weekend the UMSS swings right back into action with another scheduled double-header weekend on Friday June 4 at Kopellah Speedway with a $1,000 to win show followed by the popular 18th Annual Kouba Memorial race at North Central Speedway on Saturday June 5 paying $1,500 to win and $1,000 for second along with extra bonus money in several other spots, the two Ethel Kouba Challenge Races, and more! UMSS sprint car drivers and fans certainly have plenty of 360 sprint car action to take in during the upcoming two weekends. After that, the action just continues to roll along through the rest of June with a June 11 show at Kopellah along with the micro-sprints, then after taking a weekend off during the Masters at CLS for the IRA sprint shows, the UMSS has another double-header weekend on June 25 at Kopellah and June 26 at the new Ogilivie track in its second year of operation (first sprint show at the track). Throw in the weekly IMCA shows on Saturdays at Arlington, and local area sprint car fans certainly have plenty of winged sprint car action to choose from before a very busy month of July gets underway!
Let's go racing and have fun! Here's wishing for everyone to have a safe, successful and enjoyable Memorial Day racing weekend!

Even the weather outlook is favorable for Friday and Saturday, so here's hoping the forecast holds out and each night is a dandy one for sprint car racing!

Now all we have to do is get some NON-wing racing.

Chris I am glad that you see that i wasn't accusing you of cheating. You weren't the only car on the restart that left the field. And there are others that feel the same way that something as a random gear or stack inspection or even go as far as to cube the cars, I know big pain in the a## to do so at a dirt track. But atleast then everybody knows that the playing field is at least all legal.
Chris I will come and talk with ya tomorrow nite just so you and I are ok with the conversation that has taken place here on this board and that no ill intentions were meant.

I see the thread headlines are IMCA verses UMSS- I thought the meetings and rule adaptions were all about the two sanctions being able to race in and out of each others divisions -not be against each others sanction, The Parallel rules are to work together with out having to change a lot of equipment- It should be a great improvement to Minnesota Sprint car Racing- Good Luck to all the Sprinters- lets keep the Minnesota sprint cars going- See you at the Races- Pat.

Hey Pat,,, I guess that since I wrote the headline I should respond.. I took the IMCA vs UMSS headline from the Arlington website about how they are advertising this weekends race when I was researching about the gear rule for this show,,, No insults or animosity was intended and I figured that since they are advertising their show that way it would be OK for me to list it that way,,,,, but what's wrong with a little "FRIENDLY" rivalry anyway??? It's good to get people talking,,,, LOL

The title of IMCA vs UMSS Challenge Race #1 is to generate some additional interest amongst both groups and probably moreso for the fans. Certainly they are working together this season and beyond, but it is kind of neat to have a little "rivalry" amongst the two groups. I think the Arlington fans will get into it. Many thanks to the six Arlington cars that came up to Kopellah last night. We had a solid 24 car field, the best yet for the UMSS. I look forward to heading down to Arlington a bit later on this afternoon.
