I don't like it either. I don't like the monster trucks, bull run or anything else that isn't racing related. The sad fact is they make more money on that stuff.
I talked to the SVP of Programming at Speed a few weeks ago and there will only be 6 WoO shows this year. All live but he also commented "They have the worst weather luck".

Remember the old DIAMOND P motorsports or Thursday night THUNDER days??? How many NASCAR shows can you have?. Would love to see short track racing or more of ANY kind of racing on the Speed channel. I am sorry to say, but I am just NASCARED OUT!

I remember when ESPN had live midgets and flat track Harleys and historic Indy stuff etc. When I first heard about Speedvision, I thought man it's really going to get good now. All the cool stuff they could be showing and unique whips is all they can come up with.
It has to be helping the local dirt tracks' gates though. Tax funded baby killing is much worse than Speed Channel. Lets try to look on the bright side. They aren't showing gay porn yet. I'm sure Washington is working on it though.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

SPEED is made for fans of cars in general. Without its NASCAR deal it probably wouldnt even be
around. NASCAR is shown so much on SPEED because its what the fans want. YES, there are other
fans out there than beyond this message board.

I disagree. I think all of us were Nascar fans at one time.Went to races all the time, Pocono, Dover, Richmond, Watkins Glen, etc. Now I am oversatuated with everything Nascar. Won't go to a race if you gave me free tickets. The races are too long, too boring and too crowded. Give me a Sprint Car, Dirt Late Model or Dirt Modified race any time. I have talked with many other race fans who feel the same way. I believe in my heart, that fans all across the country feel like I do and would love to see and support other programing ( ie short track racing) on Speed.

You disagree that viewers in general want to watch NASCAR based programs, then say two sentences later that the NASCAR races too crowded. LOL If the ratings were higher for Sprint Car races, there would be more Sprint Car racing on television.
I probably have half a dozen people at my workplace that watch the NASCAR coverage, but would not even think about tuning into a Sprint Car broadcast. You underestimate how many people out there are exactly the same way.

I could be wrong, but I only remember FOUR live shows last season. Charlotte, Knoxville, Williams Grove and Charlotte.
Where there any more than that? If not, then 6 is a step up.
Anybody know where they'll be?

I said it was too crowded when I use to go, ALOT of empty seats now a days. I think the popularity is waning. Look what the Thunder shows did to make Jeff Gordan a household name. If they had short track racing on during the week( same time each week) it would be very popular.

they shouldnt even try to act professional while filming dirt racing events. Dirty driving and madhouse is more popular due to all the hillbilly laughter.
do it in the dirt

Or...how about....Operation Repo....a 30 minute program about fat people.
Very sad....but this is what "America" now sees as great programming!

As an avid F1 fan (and sprint car fan), I appreciate that they are the only network in the United States that's dedicated to showing F1 practice, qualifying and races live.

What happened to Jimmy Spencer being on NASCAR Raceday? In the past I would watch NASCAR Raceday on SPEED and then watch the last fifty laps of the race on whatever network. Now that Kyle Petty is on NASCAR Raceday I can't watch it.
I was also mad when SPEED and Sean Buckley parted ways for whatever reason.

All it takes is money! It is something like $30,000 to put on a weekly show. Each week! It was my
ambition for years to have a weekly sprint car TV show. I shot west coast races every week for 20
years, at a different track every week, from Feb to Nov. I have a van with over 500,000 miles on it.
Dean Mills, who is THE BEST open wheel dirt track shooter, was a 16 year old kid when I met him.
Dean gets all over the country now and his stuff is on speed report. We both used to weekly have
stuff on Speedweek, Raceday, On Pit Road, and RPM 2night. Jeff Converse and Jeff Kristianson
also both do great work. We've all worked together for a long time. If we could get together we
could have a show that the network people would never be able to match. . . . . the only problem$
have been the co$t of broadca$ting it. If you have the sponsorship, they will show it! Any ideas?

What if a network like SPEED or Versus would do a weekly one hour show showing nothing but dirt racing highlights and results from across the country. World of Outlaws, USAC, ASCS, All-Stars, Knoxville, Williams Grove, etc. etc. Videographers are already at the tracks and following the series shooting the races.
People like you, Dean Mills, Jeff Converse, Jeff Kristianson and others could submit race footage to this show (for a fee of course). Surely this would be a more cost effective model. I admit this option is not as good as seeing a whole race every week on TV but it could get the ball rolling.
