If this is true, and I have no reason to believe it isn't, we are in for some great racing in twenty-ten.

Well, based on past performance, I'll bet Brian Ellenberger is glad to see Toni Lutar join the WoO....

Kyle Hirst is running a 360 on the ASCS National tour and bigger paying 410 events when possible. TK is running a schedule similar to last year.

I am hoping after Florida, Vegas and Tulare .... TK is in top five in points ... which would entice the team to continue on WoO tour ..... that is my hope any way. Roth wants to be back on the WoO tour full time ... but only if the team is a contender each night.

Since 410s are ...way too expensive, too fast, are locally supported only in PA, in a slow death, in need of injector stack restrictors and spec heads... and just down right too cool I assume most of these guys are going to be running a stock 305 or 360.

Only 16 full time teams that's sad. They better lower the gate prices for the fans at some tracks just to get the fans to show up IMO. I sure miss the days when a WoO show had a huge car count that traveled not just 16. Kinda makes a person wonder what would happen if WoO went to 360's?

That is the question of the millenium, rhilbers.

My prediction: increased car count, lots of different winners, decreased long-term costs for teams if they go spec head (less rebuilds, cheaper motors), closer racing than in the past 50 years.

Other than that... not much to offer. (HEHEHEHEHEHEHE)

The WoO somehow managed to survive cubic inch reduction multiple times (haven't always been 410s, kiddos)... Nascar and Indycars have reduced c.i. NHRA ProStocks don't run 900ci mountain motors. F1 changes its motor package all the time.

Smaller engines don't kill series.

I disagree, 16 FULLTIME WoO teams is the right number. It let's some local drivers make the show and helps create a rivalry. It keeps the local fans hoping THEIR GUYS have a chance to make some $$$ and make the A Main. It also let's the bottom tier WoO teams make the shows and hopefully make the Top Ten once in while in order to make enough money to keep them on the road. If you had 25 Fulltime teams, I truly believe it would keep some local teams away because they would feel they have no shot and stay home when the WoO comes to town, therefore hurting the overall car counts.

The days when the Outlaws traveled not just 16?? You make it seem like there has been 25 regular travelers every year! Someone correct me if I'm wrong cuz I don't know how many people traveled with the Outlaws during there first 20 years but I would bet that there was no more than 10. And the only years the Outlaws had alot of travelers were in 06-08 if I am correct. I know in 07 they started with 30+ and ended the season with 21. Also correct me but I believe the year O'Reilly was the title sponsor, 04?, they had 7. I might not know the exact details for every year but what i'm trying to say is the Outlaws never use to have a huge car count and just cuz they have had more regulars than normal the past 5 years... you seem to think that it is suppose to be like that forever.

And if there were to many regulars... someone on here would have a fit that the Outlaws don't leave any room for local competitors to get into the field.

Agree, that is what I was trying to convey in my post above. The WoO were never set up to bring a FULL 24 car field. The intentions have always been THEM vs THE LOCALS. Having local cars in the starting line up helps create excitement when they come to town. Again, 16 fulltimers is a nice number, plus threw in some occasional part timers and you have the makings of a great show.

Guess nobody remembers the "Mean 15" years? 16 is just fine as mentioned above - the locals have to have a chance to make the field or they won't show and that's not good for anybody ...

It make me wonder why people think there has to be twenty five or more traveling teams. The world racing group or the world of outlaws as a whole cannot support that many teams. There will always be a loser in a large group like that namely the smaller teams. I like new teams coming out like toni lutar. The first time i seem him race was last year. I just think fifteen or so team is more then enough. At least there the smaller team get the tow money as long as they are in the top twenty.

I have to believe some of these teams won't finish the year, but it's nice to see a healthy field start the year. Still hard to believe the talent NOT out on tour once again. Stevie Smith, Daryn Pittman, Tim Shaffer, Tyler Walker, Jonathan Allard, Greg Hodnett, Kerry Madsen, Johnny Herrera, Terry McCarl and many others could all be big contenders with the WoO.

one big thing that is different now than it was in mid 80s when WOO was at their top, is that many local teams would often travel 250-500 miles to join the woo and locals to make a cool 35-60 car event, now very few nights of woo racing have more than 30 and this year like the last several there will be several woo events where a B main is not needed and this takes away from the show with current woo format

oh and if the WOO did go 360s it would be strong for a year or two then the top WOO teams and engine builders (inserts bigger $$$$$$$$ here) would be twisting the small cube even harder and looser and blow even more motors as those heads would lean them if the connecting rods held on long enough
