Heck, everybody starts out with the WoO and All Stars in Florida. Some even continue travelling in the early spring in the south and west. What matters is how many of these guys are still with the tour when times get tough in the summer.

As far as 35 - 60 car fields --- 32 cars is the ideal number = 4 eight car heats, dash, B and A.

It's surprising that Toni Lutar is going to run with the Outlaws.
Does anybody know if he is the 1st Canadian to compete full time with the Outlaws?
I'd rather be in Knoxville.

I disagree, 16 FULLTIME WoO teams is the right number. It let's some local drivers make the show and helps create a rivalry. It keeps the local fans hoping THEIR GUYS have a chance to make some $$$ and make the A Main. It also let's the bottom tier WoO teams make the shows and hopefully make the Top Ten once in while in order to make enough money to keep them on the road. If you had 25 Fulltime teams, I truly believe it would keep some local teams away because they would feel they have no shot and stay home when the WoO comes to town, therefore hurting the overall car counts.

Good post BTEXPRESS, but I don't forsee alot of local cars even running with the Outlaws this year because of the new tire rule and the flat top wing, not to mention an outlaw membership @$ 150, we're talking about an extra grand at the least, the very least.Once again DIRT or whatever they're calling themselves these days, has managed to stur up controversy and stick their foot in their mouth, doesn't surprise me.

Dude Fan and BTE express, you got that right. First, 16 is the right number, give or take a couple; if its 18 or more, its almost too many cuz local cars won't show up, and any more cars and too often a few F.T. travelers won't make it thru the B, meaning the nights a big loss. As far as: "miss the days when they had HUGE car counts"?????? Yeay, like 10 traveling cars. Funny how we remember the 70s and 80s so differently---in car counts.
Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

I would be shocked if 16 run every race. But nevertheless, it is a very good group to start the season with.

He might be, but something tells me Jimmy Carr toured with them in the late 90's in the 65 car. I know he ran in California a bunch, but thought he went on tour for a year or so. Maybe someone can confirm.

25 full time on the tour would mean 15 of them eating part time!
face it folks, it costs real money to LOSE that kinda money on the road when you can't get out of the B.

not being a tony lutar fan (due to unsportsmanship likeconduct at skagit) several years it is my prediction that he is nowhere good enough or has the $$ to run with the big dogs. but then again, any local show at chico, skagit or anywhere in possee land is as good as the woo. jmo boyz so don't get all excited here...2cents worth..
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

Here my 2 cents, or better yet 3 cents......
1-Robby will be good, look for him to win atleast once this year at knoxville and pick up ROY honors.
2-Jimmy Carr ran about 50 WoO shows in a year on 2 occasions. Once in 1991 in the 65 car, and once in 1996 driving the 7mc car. So not a complete tour, but I would assume till they ran out of money.
3-Toni Lutar has been around for awhile now, since 1985 at Skagit. Sure he has done some hit a miss thriugh the years, and not that I am a fan, but Toni is a great guy to talk to and a real racer. He has always raced where he wanted to, even if it was with the Outlaws at a track he had never even seen before. Yeah he don't hardly ever win but who cares he runs good enough to be out there and to be doing what he loves. Wish I could do the same. As far as how much money he has, well, he has more than all of us.
Good luck Toni.
Bonus cent-anyone remember Steve Beitler? He wasn't any good either, but he was out there!
The older I get, the faster I used to be.

Who cares if Lutar has the dough to run with the WoO , the more teams that start the season strong the better the % is that the WoO will keep a decent count ofn full time teams, I personally love the teams that catch on to the series ,after nationals ,extra sponsorship, what have you, I like the teams willing to stir up a givin night and not nessessarly running for points, as stated before there is a boat load of good drivers that catch the seriers when it competes regionally, makes it interesting in my book, I want the upset!, the dark horse to shine, If the WoO went to a 360 limit it wound make a dittly wink of differance, the large funded teams would perfect a limited engine to death, a high compression 360 would proubly have the life span of a goldfish, If you like 360's dont push the envelope of high dollar teams putting one in the next level , the (affordable)360 will be doomed more than it already is, sure it can be limited but how long do you think a open wallet will find something that every 360 team needs to compete dont get me wrong, I like 360's , I personally think, they are already getting out of hand , to run the 360 nationals ill bet you need a 360 valued at 27-30k and no less than 680hp, fresh when you showed up and two laps away from a rebuild ,not the answer. IMO

360s may be fine on the smaller tracks, but whenever I watch a 360/410 show on the half miles the 410s look sooo much faster and harder to drive (not saying I could drive a 360). The 360s just look completely locked down, they basically just breathe the throttle going into the corner and then hammer it again, where with 410s you hear the throttle being modulated the entire way through the corner.
It is true that other sanctioning bodies have lowered displacement limits and not effected the finished product, but the difference is, they did it because the cars were starting to have TOO much power. If NASCAR was still allowed 427s they'd be making 1100hp, if Formula 1 cars still were allowed turbo cars they'd have 1200hp....those sanctioning bodies didn't take power away, they just reduced displacement in an effort to keep power the same against ever increasing knowledge and technology. IMO, the top level sprint car should have 850-900hp, that level of power separates the great from the average. The main reason 360 racing is more competitive is for the same reason cars at Daytona stay closer together then at Charlotte. It's easier to drive a car with less power, and therefore more people can do it.
