Before I get angry and start saying nasty things .... can someone please explain to me why the WoO has been dropped for the Mini Gold Cup??? I was all ready to order tickets on Monday. I had people flying in for this race plus several more from the bay area. I guess we will now skip this event and focus on Tulare. Nothing against a locals race but we get to see the locals all year, the WoO is only in town three weekends a year!

Does any of this have to do with Handy Promotions????

From the Silver Dollar website:

The season starts on March 12 and 13 with the annual Mini Gold Cup. This race will feature 410-winged sprint cars. A hefty $50,000 total purse over the two nights of racing solidify this event as one of the biggest 410-races in California. Friday night main event's winner will receive $4,000 while Saturday night's winner will receive $8,000. This year's version of the Mini Gold Cup will be unsanctioned, technically making it an open show for 410 winged sprints. The rules and specifications for this weekend will follow the guidelines of the King of California Golden State Series. More...

Now this is just a guess but it might have something to do with the WoO/Goodyear tire deal.

The Mini Gold Cup has never been a sanctioned WoO race...they do not run for points, but the outlaws do run in the race. It is just like the Knoxville Nationals, itthat race is unsanctioned also!!!!!

We have no 410 winged races in the Houston area this year. Only some ASCS Gulf South events and one ASCS 410 non wing show.

The Mini Gold Cup was sanctioned by the World of Outlaws in 2009 as it was supposed to be this year before it was just changed. What a joke. Wonder if the Gold Cup will be an Outlaw show?

Sorry, but the mini was a sanctioned WoO race in the late '80's up until the early/mid '90's; after the WoO stopped coming west in the spring, the mini dropped the WoO sanction until last year, when it was a sanctioned WoO race.

And the Knoxville Nationals was a WoO sanctioned race until a few years back; it just paid show up points to all WoO drivers since the format was not a "traditional" WoO format. It is now unsanctioned, since all of the WoO guys show up anyhow, both for the prestige of the event and the $$$$....

I wonder if the WoO are still sanctioning the Gold Cup? They will still be running Goodyears!!!

This really screws the fans & the drivers. For the fan, now we only get to see the best sprint car drivers in the world on two weekends this year (Tulare & Gold Cup). It hurts the locals as the Good years they buy can only use for one weekend at Tulare and the $125 membership fee as well. It hurts the WoO drivers as now they are driving all the way out to the West Coast for only three races (Vegas & Tulare). WTF?

One fan that is not happy with Handy Promotions!!!!

you are the one that posted that the mini would not be woo event and that it would be run according to GSC rules. you said it came stright from handy web site. so now you are wondering if woo is still sanctioning it? you posted that before you got angry and started posting nasty things you wanted to be set straight. well obviously you by passed that while still not knowing for sure the answer to your question. the woo teams would still be able to run the mini i suspect, but would they buy hoosiers to do it? lol. it has been my belief that in order to get a woo date on the woo schedule, you need to put your non refundable deposit in before hand to confirm the date. i don't know if this was the case with the mini. california has been lacking in woo shows for years, last year was the first time in quite a while that the mini was a woo show.

The GOLD CUP dude! If you didn't know, that is a $50,000 to win race in September. The mini gold cup is run in March.

My question is ttwill he GOLD CUP still be a WoO event. The mini gold cup is not as of this week. The past three months it was a WoO event. I am just wondering what happened in the past week (mini gold cup)?

1.i believe they were told you must join world of outlaws to run a outlaw show.

2.must run goodyears that are only legal at woo shows.

3.sanction fees that just dont fly very well with today economy.

just my guess on this, and as far as im concerned i would rather see our local racers racing for a good money.

the woo boys are more than welcome to come get some if they so desire.

As many of you may already know we will not be sanctioning the Mini Gold Cup originally scheduled for March 12 & 13, 2010. We are actively pursuing an alternative site for this weekend. I'll keep everyone posted on any new developments.

Nice, I hope they land dates at Kings, Ocean or another track and stick it to Chico after the crap they pulled. Just like what the old Kings Speedway promoters did last year.

So Oakland Sprint Fan are you going to pay my for my goodyears that I will not run again as well as my fee to join the WoO? I believe I am correct that this is the first year WoO is requiring you join to race. I applaud Handy for trying to limit the cost for the racers.

I bet now they are trying to get another track so can even run out here. I doubt many teams would want haul all the way out here for one race.

Yeah, that'd be pretty dumb, forcing the fans and the cars that support CA 410 racing to choose one or the other....

And exactly what "crap" did Chico pull by not sanctioning the mini with the WoO; Alan Handy made a business decision, which will likely mean slightly reduced prices for fans, and a chance for Nor Cal teams to make decent bucks.

If you want to see the WoO, then go ahead and support them - but there's no need to bash Chico and the promoters there.........

Because Chico advertised the WoO Mini Gold Cup for several months now (on their site). Then they pull it just before tickets went on sale Monday.

I hear all different things on the tires. Some say you need to buy new tires for each race. Some say they use them for several races. I have no idea which is correct on this one. I don't think the tires are an issue when you can use them over four nights at Tulare & Chico. I hear the $125 fee does provide over a half million in insurance ... which some local drivers don't have.
