Reigning 'King of California' to Drive Heffner Racing Enterprises #27
Tyler Walker, 2009 Golden State Challenge Series King of California, has been named lead driver of Heffner Racing Enterprise's Lelands.com-sponsored #27 car for 2010. The former World of Outlaws Gumout Series champion's first race as a member of the PA Posse will be the Icebreaker 30, Lincoln Speedway's season opener, on Saturday, February 27 at 2 p.m.
"I'm grateful to Mike Heffner for the opportunity and cant wait to work with Dennis Koehler, a long time friend and someone I have a great deal of respect for," says Walker. "I really miss the big and fast tracks and look forward to being back in a more competitive series. I can't wait to join the PA Posse and see the longtime fans I have in Pennsylvania. They're the best fans in the country!"
Walker, nicknamed 'T-Dub', replaces veteran sprint car driver Sean Michael, who will spend much of the coming season serving as crew chief for his brother, URC champion Curt Michael. Still recuperating from a shattered knee, Sean will drive select races for Heffner Racing next season, providing they don't conflict with the #5G schedule.
Heffner Racing Enterprises' owner Mike Heffner is excited about adding Walker, known for his thrilling, high energy driving style, to the team. Only entering its second full season, Heffner Racing has already worked with some of the best drivers in sprint car racing. After a devastating crash last May sidelined Sean for the remainder of the season, Sprint Car Hall of Famer Keith Kauffman filled the seat, securing the team's first win.
"Every new team dreams of winning races, and we're no different. Making it to victory lane last year was one of the happiest days of my life—an indescribable feeling. I believe Tyler can get us there again. And again and again. He's enthusiastic, aggressive and wants to win as much as we do," says Heffner.
In addition to being 2009's Golden State Challenge Series King of California (during which time he broke the single season record for wins in the series), T-Dub was also named USAC Silver Crown Series Most Improved Driver in 2004 and World of Outlaws Gumout Series champion in 2002 when he won sixteen races during the season.
Walker is credited with originating the celebratory backflip off his racecar, his signature victory lane move, which has since been copied by several other drivers
"I like to have fun on and off the track and I expect Heffner Racing and I to have a great time this season," concludes Walker.

Wow, a Cali born driver that won the GSC title last year saying he is looking forward to racing a more competitive series this year. That was quite a quote. Looked like he really dumped on the California fans by calling the Posse fans the best fans in the country. Those are really weird quotes to use in a press release. Seems like they are almost guaranteed to **** off fans in California.
I am not ripping on the fans or the competition of winged 410 racing in California. There are some great people from Cali. that post on this board. It just surprises me that a native Cali. driver would give quotes like that about the region.

They are, only JA gave Tyler even a slight challenge.
Can you name anyone else, that raced the GSC season, giving chase to Tyler???!
Please, the west coast series are a joke compared to midwest and eastern series!!!!

I have no doubt that the various racing series in CA are good... there are people that know how to get around a track and some that have a lot of $$$ that helps, too.
Saying the line about "more competitive" is an opinion... one that TW can state based on his cockpit experience. HIS opinion.
Is there any dispute that being a champion in Central PA is a big deal? That's got to be the toughest weekly competition there is in the sport. What other track has locals beating the WoO frequently?
Expecting TW to be logical and politically correct, to say the right thing at the right time... that's like expecting water to not be wet. Good luck with that.
He's a gasser. He's fast. He stomps the loud pedal. If he keeps it off the wall and off other cars... if the equipment and crew are good... he'll do well I think.
The song used to be "goin to California" but now it's "goin to Pennsylvania". Bobby Allen, Steve Siegel, Van May... many others have moved to PA for racing. Trend continues.

This is one more example of why hands down Central PA is the Best place in the country to make a living driving sprint cars for a living. I feel that TW will do O K in Central Pa!! If he gets what he wants, he will stay, but when the going gets tough!!! I for one would like to see what he can do hear full time, week in week out.

Double Douche.....your a idiot! You don't have one positive thing to say on any thread on here and your point that he had only a slight challenge from Jonathan Allard is far off base! Brent Kaeding doesn't come to mind? Those three finished in the tightest GSC points battle EVER!
Up and coming talent is everywhere out here. We have so many youngsters running that have great talent it's not funny. We are lucky out here that they can start racing at a really young age and aren't slouch's against the best either! Look at Kyle Larson at the Gold Cup this last year. Plus we are lucky enough to have both non-wing and wing racing in the same state that run 410's so they can hone their skills, name many other places or states that do that on a weekly basis with both styles?? Anyway's i'm glad for Tyler Walker and the posse fan's are in for a treat! I guess we will just have to groom another young gun out here...oh wait we already have! As far as fan support in Calif.....ask Tyler what he remembers about running Santa Maria Speedway this last year and i'll guarantee you that he talks about the standing room only for the race and how they shuttled people to the track from remote locations. Passion is the word I describe for our fans at Santa Maria Speedway and many other tracks out here!
Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!

If they don't hide the water truck, Hodnett better get his elbows up.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Wrong! Montieth better put his elbows up if the track has a sweet ass cushion.

Tyler never "made it" until he left California and headed east to Pennsylvania with the AirSep 35 car and met Ricky Warner! He learned ALOT in PA!

That's great!
When I heard the Chastain's were shutting down their race team I was hoping Tyler would land back on the WoO tour but I'm sure he'll be quite happy in Posseland! Tyler will definitely add some additional excitement for you fans in PA. Make sure you get out and catch him on a bullring too, this guy isn't just hard on the gas, he's as quick as you'll see on the steering wheel. Sometimes just watching him qualifying can be worth the price of admission.
It was a blast watching Tyler out here in 2009 and I wish him all the best in 2010!

The difference between the CA drivers and the Posse drivers is that the CA drivers actually beat the Outlaws at many tracks around the country, not a single weird shaped track known as America's Slowest Half Mile. Now scoop up Tim Kaeding and I might even move to PA myself, sorry.
To my Beer Hil friends, Tyler was my pick in the only pool I was ever in there and we all know who won the pool, lol. (He finshed 2nd to Steve, Steve wasn't chosen, REALLY).
Enjoy him Posseland, he's as much fun off the track as he is on and he will charm the kids and the little ol' ladies to boot. He'll be a fan favorite by June. Take It Easy....

you know mike i met you one time back in 05 or 06 i believe. and it was on the hill where i stand every friday. to be honest i laugh when you say americas slowest half mile and other things about the posse vs outlaws debate. maybe you should come to the grove this year and see how things have changed! or have you been lurking and not saying anything!

put it this way, if you are on this msg board posting, you must be a good sprint car fan, but on another note, if PA drivers and fans r so much better i dont see much going on with them when trophy cup is here on the west coast, im talkin about in the stands and parked on the front stretch after the A main just my thought, not starting drama!
Pushin the cushin!
