Jesse "the Rocket" Hockett Is Brisbane Bound Jak posted Wednesday December 23, 2009. Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway Promoter John Kelly and Motorguard Motorsport team principle John Weatherall are pleased to announce that Jesse Hockett will pilot the USA 1 Motorguard Maxim during the Summer Of Speed Sprintcar events in Brisbane starting Boxing Night, December 26.
Hockett, from Warsaw Missouri, contacted the Speedway following the news of the withdrawal of Cody Darrah from his Australian tour and has been in negotiations with Kelly, Weatherall and Darrah over the past twenty-four hours to secure the last minute opportunity to race in Brisbane.
"We very pleased to have Jesse come on board at the eleventh hour, it's a great result for all concerned really." explained Kelly from his raceway office.
"First and foremost we have a commitment to our patrons, track sponsors and owners to provide them with entertaining racing at our venue and the best way we can do that at this time of the year is to run a number of major shows with visiting American drivers racing against the best in Australia."
"Jesse is a very good winged and non-wing driver and comes to us very highly recommended by a number of people in the States. I'm sure he will quickly become a fan favourite in Brisbane with his hammer down style of driving, we're really looking forward to introducing him to the fans on Saturday night."
Kelly and Weatherall would also like to acknowledge the role Cody Darrah and his father Joe have played in securing Jesse for these events in Brisbane. Cody is unavailable for the trip due to testing commitments he has with Kasey Kahne Racing ahead of his full-time ride with the team in the 2010 World Of Outlaws Championship.
With Hockett winging his way to Australia, Saturday night's International Sprintcar Series event will once again now feature three Americans against a very strong Qld contingent. Hocket, Brent Kaeding and Bud Kaeding will go head to head with last start winner Todd Wanless, Pete Thorley, Darren Jensen, David "Blingy" Muir and a host of other stars in the thirty-lap Feature event.
Saturday night's action-packed program also features the Australia vs Rest Of The World Demolition Derby, Rollover Cars and a huge Christmas Fireworks display plus the AMCA Nationals, ASCF Junior Sedans, Club Sedans, Ford v Holden Sedans, Brisbane Sedans and Outlaw Sedans.

Hate to stir up the Posse ......but at this stage of their careers .... you Aussie's just got a way better deal for your ticket money. Hockett hasn't got the p. r. machine behind him that the 'Kid' does .... but in head to head racing in 2010 season here, Hockett will hand the 'kid' his a$$.
Oh ...... Hockett will do it on about 1/10 the budget too.
2 maybe 3 years from now ..... remains to be seen obviously .... but for now ..... no comparison.

GO get 'em Rocket!!!!!
Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

there might be better drivers out there but none with more desire to win and the drive to go as fast as they can. Hockett is certainly very fun to watch, even with 5 cars on the track with him at little XX speedway on a sunday night running for $600 the young man wheels his car like its the biggest race of his career, perfect example is the day show at STN few years ago where the Hoosier tire guy told him you will not blister and blow this tire, HA,
Good luck Jesse!!!!!!!!!

I found it interesting that the promoter said his first priority is to put on an entertaining race for the fans. That is a concept that US promoter are missing. Hello Knoxville. It is not all about the corporate money. I know it is important but it is all about the fans.

Kinda makes up for the nasty punting that Hocket took by Darrah at the Trophy Cup. Go Rocket!

See, things have a way of working out. The Rocket is a gasser! This gives him another great opportunity and he will be great with the fans.
The track does seem VERY fan friendly. I like the fact that they have price breaks for the youth and also a family package. I never understood why you should pay the same for a 13 year old as an adult....Need to get that age person intereseted in order for racing to prosper or even continue.

I think the Jesse has GREAT PR.
Great to see him get a chance down under. He is SUCH a great racer no matter what kind of car he is in. Anyone who can turn around when a non-wing race is cancelled and head to a winged race with the same car and put on a show is great in my book.

Take a chill pill Mr W. ...... You are one person .... in the Posse ... we have many ...
Darrah has the 'Power of the Posse' (or PotP) that waged a very effective blitz to get the 'Kid' into the Kahne ride.
I wasn't dissing you ...Hockett, the Darrah kid or the Posse .... just an observation from near I-80.
I will send you my thoughts for your pre-approval before posting from now on.

A lot of Australian Tracks are running the policy of 12 and under free ,In fact Parramatta has a huge sign facing the freeway KIDS 12 UNDER FREE .That Freeway is the major East West Road .

No big deal, I was just asking where/who Cody's "P.R. Machine" is? I hang out at all the major outlets including the Grove message board and usually spend some time in PA each year, just wondering...and I'm sure the "PA Blitz" from the "Power of the Posse" is why Kasey reached his conclusion! I'm just surprised that "PoP" didn't land someone in a Stewart ride. LOL
FYI, I've had several conversations with Cody and find him to be a great young man. Let's remember he is only 20, and not perfect. I have a 20 year old living under my roof, so I know how it works...everyone needs to give a family who does much for our sport a break...
