I find it interesting that no one has posted the results or even commented on the the All Coast Counstruction Race at Ventura last night.
A total of 8k being paid to the first 3 spots, another 5K going to winner for the 3 Race series? I know every one is still in amazement at the racing we saw last night.
I swear I was looking for the full moon, it had more drama going on than a high school girl's cell phone.
Our car got took out early thanks to a young man trying to put something 7 feet wide through a hole 3 feet wide, but it happens. Should of expected it, it isnt the first time from him, but Karma came back to bite him. Oh well live to race another day.
How about Jimmy Crawford on the microphone, congrats I guess?
Poor Hockett/Mitchell, feel bad for them, but they have a curfew and only 3 push trucks, not to mention that from the stands after Sheridan flipped and got tagged by another car and sitting in turn 3 on his head, it looked like his motor was still spinning. The leaders shut em down cause it had to be a red, but it wasn't. Kudos for sticking to the rules and send them to the back, but bigger boo's for not making the call for the red, you know that safety thing.
Big Mike, thanks a ton for letting us all run for the big money, you are a classy guy and excellent friend of racing. Oh and a pretty good photographer too. Thanks again

Agree with you about Big Mike, but he is also a terrific sprint car journalist. Congratulations Mike on a great three race series.

It was a very action packed race for sure, on and off the track. Every heat race was a thriller packed with talent. I thought it was a full moon also!

The guy I was most impressed with Saturday was Brandon Thompson, he drove it to the front and was on his way to the win when it broke. Will someone out there help this guy with some support? He's a great guy who does more with less than anyone out there.....

I agree with Butch that there should of been a red for sure. When did we stop protecting not only our drivers but the crew that works for the guy that decides to not throw the red. What happened to safety before the curfew. I thought that thru all of this crap with racing changing the way that it has that Ventura if anyone has kept it old school fun. Like the group that I grew up with at Ascot having a great time everyone racing to beat each other on the track but helping each other in the pits now to see that Ventura has fallen victum to the same stuff, race for the officals not the racers. Who would think being in racing for sooo long, Naylor, that having a driver upside down with track, workers running across to do what they are paid to do and help the drivers, would have to also put their lives at risk by having to dodge cars that should be stopped looks safe to ANYONE. I guess we will have that red when someone doing their job gets hurt and we have to stop. What an awful call. If we do not have time to take care of a driver that might be hurt, safety crew that might get run over or enough push trucks to restart the field then maybe we should not be racing.

I agree totally with WHINITWASFUN. I was sitting in the turn four side of the grandstands and couldn't believe what I was seeing on the track. Sheridan got into the turn three fence hard, got upside down and was hit hard from another car. Hocket and Mitchel were running 1 & 2 and saw Sheridon on his head with fire coming from the car and stopped in turn 4 expecting a red. I couldn't believe it when there was no red. The track workers were dodging cars to get to Danny and the cars running on the track were dodging the wreck and the cars stopped in turn 4. In 47 years of going to the races I have never seen anything so ridiculous in my life. What amazed me is the regular VRA fans that were sitting in my area thought nothing about it. They seemed happy that Hocket and Mitchel were sent to the back and their regular VRA cars got to move up with a better chance for the cash. To top that incident off, with 3 laps to go a car hit the wall and the right front tire of the car was under the car and he drove like that for two laps and the flag man never gave him a black flag. I couldn't beleave what I was seeing. At that point I got up and left. I know sometimes the USAC officials get trashed, but they would have never let the lack of safety for the drivers and track workers happen like they did saturday night at Ventura. I was really looking forward to going to the Midgets on Nov. 21 but after what I saw there on saturday I 'm not sure I want to go back.

Ventura does not throw a red very often. I was not there this weekend nor have I been to this track in a while, but with all the classes they run and the tight curfew they face, red flags are often overlooked to get the show in. I hate it now I hated it when I used to race there, but that is the way it is. Someone commented about racing at your own risk when the kid from Victorville got burned last week. This really is no difrent in my opinion.

Harley Man. I agree with you, there should of been a red flag. But they don't go red for every crash. And it has worked for Ventura. I too was disappointed when Hocket and Mitchell had to go to the back, but it wasn't red. The red light never came on and if you stop on a yellow at Ventura, you go to the rear. The Thomson car broke well before hitting the wall as you said. The flagman was way too slow about getting the black flag out for the 19. They rarely use it, so I can see why it took two laps to find it. lol.
If you don't come to the midget show on the 21st, you will miss an exciting race. But I've stayed away from a track for less then that. I, for one, will not miss this one.
Did anyone notice how K. Kierce moves up a few spots on every yellow. lol. That's why they need to have radios for next year.
Congrats to said K. Kierce for back-to-back championships. Way to go.
Kenny

What does it take for a red? Flames? Or just all the rearend fluid on the Dirt? If you notice, All the fluid drained out of it by the time they got there. It was like Leap Frog on the track.... LOL..... But like someone else said, only 3 pushy trucks, and a time restraint. That could put a damper on things.... I bet no one will stop till they see red again.....
Everyone is a little Crazy in their own unique way...
Its the one's who Don't think they are Crazy you have
to Look Out For!!!!

It should only take a driver on his head with fluid pouring out on him and safety crew trying to get to him what other explanation of a red does anyone need......If they don't have the time or the means to run a race, a safe race for the drivers then maybe they should do something about it. Again it will just take one person being hurt and all will change, sucks it takes that. I give props to the 2 guys and Espinosa that did stop, costing those 2 guys the race, for them safety was first and to Luis you rock for the help you gave you were the first guy there making sure that Danny was OK. To the safety crew going above and beyond playing frogger was right... I don't think the application they filled out said that they would have to risk their lives for a dumb call... race at your own risk sure but dumb call well that is where racing has brought us. I would give anything to have the good ole' boys back from the Ascot days. What a great family of friends to be raised with

Got to say, What about Blake Miller, Coming from Dead last to get into the # 5 spot.
Blake got into the wall, coming out of turn 3 in his heat race. Finish in the top 4, in
his B main
They lost the front bars bars, Could not us the bars, And change the car over to a coil over front end, I asked Blake,
How hard was it to driver after the change, What he said, We did what we had to do, To
get in to the main. The car was butching. Jimmy May was smiling after the main was over
Plus Mike Spencer, in the 30 car, Same thing. ended up out of his heat, Screw up the cars front end, Won in the 2nd B main. Coming from last, Started out in the main some were back in 18th or so
spot, And finished 8. Was running up in 4th until, a big old yellow came out, Good old Danny in the # 18 car, Up side down in turn 3. Said after that, The car would not turn, going in, had a hell of time, just to finish.

If Ventura had more than three push trucks, two of them tow trucks, it would not be as big of a problem to throw a red flag. That being said, the three guys that stopped should get glasses. I never saw a red flag. If there was a red flag and it was pulled back, then the three guys that stopped should have gotten there spots back on the restart.

The flagman is a puppet who's strings are pulled from the tower and Jim Naylor. The major issue is always time. The curfew. He has one hand on the flag and the other on the light button and time and time again a yellow or red is not tossed. Why? because the OK has not been given from above. We have seen cars sideways in the groove in turn one with the leaders flying down the front stretch and in order to save time a flag in not thrown. Saturday it would have taken a long time to restart the cars so a red was not thrown for the 18. It should have been red.
What needs to happen is the races need to be started sooner. Did you hear that Cliff Morgan? Start the races EARLIER IN THE DAY if the time is so critical that you cannot run a safe ship.
