all this talk about donny schatz cheating and using tc is getting ridiculous...theres a lot of gray area in racing and every driver looks for something to gain an advantage over the other competitors... so until schatz or someone else is caught cheating give it up. Just consider schatz and his team better and smarter then the rest at this time...and by the way im not a schatz fan... go tmac

Agreed. Smile

I admire innovation and pushing the envelope. It's why we're not sitting in caves eating bugs out of each other's hair. If you can find a loop hole...... go for it!!!

The cheating conspiracy theories are mildly entertaining though. Makes me wonder how much crack some of these people consume for breakfast... wink

These cheating conspiracy theories sure aren't helping to further the sport's image. Give it up already. Good thing the internet message boards didn't exist in the day when Kinser, Wolfgang and Swindell ruled the jungle. You think these guys didn't have the advantage over the competition in terms of quality equipment, sponsors and money...to say nothing of innovation from guys like Karl, Trsotle, Nance, ect...?

This all reminds me of the old racing joke.. At the end of the race a driver runs up to the offical and points to the winners car and says " I know he's cheatin" and the official asks him " Well, how do you know that?" and the racer tells him " Cause I'm cheatin and he's beatin me"

More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

Conspiracy theories? It happen's in all major sports and to think its not happening in sprint car racing is ridiculous. If they had your "give it up already" attitude we'd be right back in the steroid era. As it is even with testing policies you still have athletes getting caught taking THG or whatever it is they take. As for the big three..I know they have like a thousand wins and if this board were operating in the 80's you can bet there would be people accusing them of cheating.

why do you think most of the big budget teams support the no TC rule? think about it! for katich to blow the deal off is laughable. davis technologies sells TC devises for every type of car and type of series you can think of. to think the top teams in our little sprint world are not experimenting would be very naive. it is in nacar and nascar people are in sprint car racing.

c'mon john... traction control IS being used with removable sending units smaller than cell phones, cockpit mounted; clear, odorless fuel additives with virtually the same specific gravity as methanol ARE being used; right rears ARE being soaked in xylene...

you can call it innovative if you like, pushing the envelope... i'm not even going to talk about the rash of intellectual property theft over the past season (ask Dean Lindsey how he came by his new HD motorcycle)... until the rules are applied with equity to all; they are a joke.

If I am innovative enough to push the envelope in a rule that states the maximum distance from the center foil front edge to the front edge of the front axle may not exceed 20 inches - and then - call it a loophole because I think the leading edge of the front axle is the panard bar mount - then I am nothing more than a cheater hiding behind my inability to follow a set of (fair) rules and guidelines instead of trying to best my competition through hard work, preparation, and talent.

Innovation and loopholes are not the same thing and do not go together. People who look for loopholes are not only cheating their competition - they're cheating themselves. People who are innovative admit to their failures, and celebrate their accomplishments.

And oh, BTW, if the 15 team IS cheating the rules, and nobody is doing anything about it, then why can't anyone else keep up? Think about it.

I'm not a big Schatz fan, but DAMN. JUST DAMN. He is kicking some ass - seemingly at will.

IF HE IS NOT CHEATING HE SHOULD BE CONGRATULATED ON HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS. HE IS THE ONE WHO HAS TO KNOW IF HE SHOULD BE PROUD OR NOT. OBVIOUSLY THE OFFICIALS DON'T THINK HE IS CHEATING OR DON'T CARE. SOMETHING MAKES HIM WAY BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE, I DON'T THINK IT IS SHEAR ABILITY

People who cheat don't care about anybody but themselves. They cheat because they'll do whatever it takes to win. Then they stand up there on the podium take their trophy and their oscar for the great acting job and collect whatever place finish paycheck. For the one's that cheat and still finish back in the pack... their just not very good at it.

I was no Schatz fan (and he still needs public speaking and interviewing lessons but that has nothing to do with his racing dominance) until I saw him come from 24th to 7th at the Osky FRC in '07 by lap 8 ABOVE the rough cushion passing car after car before he broke. No one in our section thought anyone would go to the back for any amount of money as narrow and rough as it was after the rain storm that afternoon. Running in 6 inches of 'rough stuff' pretty well ended the argument in my crowd about traction control. He was making the rest of a stout field look like monkeys before breaking. T.C. is only effective from all I have heard, on dry slick tracks, not racing in a 'plowed field'. I will give him his due ... right now and until someone dethrones him ...he is the new King. Doesn't make him equal to the old King ...yet .... but as of the last 3 years ... he is the best out there. ...... 'All hail the new King'

Well, f###!! How many times must it be reported that Kraig and Donny aren't running the same equipment. Follow along the posts and you won't look stupid.

well first off they are 2 different drivers and they have different crew chiefs and driving styles...one runs shaver motors while the other one runs kistler...one runs a maxum while the other runs a j&j. so really the only thing they have in common is the owner

If he is using traction control wouldn't you think there are others? He cant be the only one doing it. Maybe he is using steroids? It's not illegal in racing is it? Maybe he is smoking a bong. Drugs arent illegal in sprint car racing either, or is it? I havent heard of anyone losing their ride in sprint car racing for doing steriods or any type of illegal drugs.
