That is what I heard this morning also.
Also heard a past sprint driver is the new promoter. A many time IRA champion for that matter. Have not been able to confirm this with anybody yet. Just relaying what I was told this morning. Lets just hope that it is true.

I heard a while ago that Joe Roe was trying to work something out there. I hope he is the new promoter.

All that praying has finally paid off! I'm not very religious but I've been on my hands and knees and know it looks like there might be one last light at the end of this tunnel! I don't care who's the new blood as long as its not HILLBILLY ENTERTAINMENT OR SLOW MOTION ENTERTAINMENT! Congrats to whomever you are and I wish you the best of luck at whatever schedule you run! This might be Wilmot Speedway's last chance so good luck. I will be there in full support. REPO, OUTIE!

The Kenosha County Fair Assoc will release a statement later this month regarding the operation of the facility for 2009, it is premature to make any conclusions prior to that statement. All that can be said for sure is that there will be racing at the facility in 2009 and beyond.

I think it was Wilmot that had a header rule once. All these guys talking about 305, 360, 410, unlimited motors, etc.
I always thought that was a great idea....weight rule...RR tire rule....flat wings...and a header rule.
Run all the cubic inches you want, boys, except they got to flow through a 1 7/8" header.
Talk about easy to police. I had hoped that might be the start of something.
New promoters..I'm there with a car, all year.

We were actually running an 1 5/8 header, rr was an MC2 Mcreary tire and the weight rule varied by season. One thing I can tell you is that this race track was getting between 35-45 cars every Saturday night when we ran back in these days.

Wilmot, at one time, led the nation in car count for a weekly show, maybe for a couple years running.

we had good car counts & lots of fun back in those days, personally I thought the Marie Winker days were some of the better days there. Not for car counts just by the way they treated everybody & tried to turn the place back around. If Joe is in charge then hopefully things will get back on the right track & people will be treated fairly again to where they want to race again.

I remember my first season there was 1992. IRA was still there weekly. You had your 40 cars there every week. The show was awesome you had at least 30 of the 40 cars capable of winning. Cars could run top 5 in the A one week and struggle to get out of the B the next week. In 1994 IRA went full travel instead of being at Wilmot every week and everyone thought The Wilmot sprint show would flop only to see car counts grow every year and by the late 90's we were back up to 40 plus. We were having to run a C main every week. Not many weekly sprint tracks have more than a few cars in there B or do not even run a B. Then I beleive it was 2002 when the and I will be nice (The new Regime) took over, which by the way were IMCA modified people. Thet told us that they would still run 410's but we raced for less money. OK whatever we still had a place to race. After 4 nights they told us they were cutting our purse in half. 500 to win a 410 show are you kidding me. It gets even better Imca's still raced for the same money no cuts there hummmmmm. If money was tight they should have cut all classes equally, then at least we would have seen money was an issue. Ater this no sprinters wanted to go there well, I believe they had 8 cars after the purse cut. Since then Wilmot can not even attract 20 cars weekly. This "Regime" forced alot of good racers to an early retirement and it is about time someone else will get a chance to run this track. I can tell you I do not have nothing personally against these guys they ran it there way. It just was not the way I would have liked to have seen it.

Any confirmations on this "rumor" yet? I am having a hard time sleeping not knowing if SLOW MOTION ENTERTAINMENT is still in charge!

I talked with one of the future promoters & he stated it will be in a press release very shortly. The impression I got is the fair board will promote with a few individuals advising/managing situation.

Well this could be great news if it is true. That track has been in a steady downward spiral for too long. The right people can bring it back if they have the support of the fairboard and the racers. A few soft finacial years that the fairboard could share in could change that track into a racing mecca like no one has ever seen.
