How come we do not have any results posted on this message with results from kemper arena or was it a bust and we don't want to talk about it.

86 midgets, 300 cars total; by looking at many of the heat results, cars came from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th row to win some of them; so it must have been good racing.

The results are deceiving. It wasn't that the racing was good at all. It was just that for the most part they didn't go more than 2 laps without wrecking (if they made that many), which kept cycling people through the lead. Even the leaders were wrecking. I've got some "great" photos of all but 1 or 2 cars piled up at a time. I was just a bystander in the stands, so I couldn't tell you if it was the track or the drivers. The usual suspects I have for track conditions weren't standing out to me, but I really don't know. Overall, it was a really sad affair for the midgets. The micros had some great passing, though. When they weren't wrecking, of course.

Wow, lots of cars. More is not always better and in this case it sounds like it was a stinker. 2AM is pretty dang late....or early.

I'm not sure why everyone thought the track was going to be any bigger than it is. Is it perhaps because some race fans simply don't follow regular sports, and because they didn't realize that this is a hockey areana, just presumed that the building was going to be the size of the Tusla Expo Center or Southern Illinois Center?

But if you knew it's a hockey arena, you should have understood that there was simply no way they could have gotten a 1/5th or 1/6th mile track in there. A regulation hockey rink is only 200 feet by 85 feet. 200 feet times two straights yields 400 feet. 85 feet across times pi (3.14) gives a circumfrence of 267 feet.(since there's two ends of the track, we can consider two semi-circles as one circle) So that gives us 667 feet, or 7 feet longer than an 1/8th mile drag strip.

I give a shout out to POWRi for putting on a winter show in a relatively major city, but I decided months ago not to attend this show simply because I knew the track size--or lack thereof--would likely present a problem.

Well, I guess that the reason I thought that the track would be a 1/6th mile oval, with 4 feet of banking, is because of an email exchange I had with the promoter... Stupid me......

Track size will be about a 1/6th mile with about 4 feet of banking in the corners that will be twice the banking of the chili bowl. Thanks Scott

I don't know what the total payout is for the 2 nights but this race brought out some major talent. $5,000 to win Friday with $10,000 for the 60 lap final tonight is not bad, not bad at all. That track is so small that Schrader would have had a flashback. You know, tied to a pole out in his yard again.

good post. makes a lot of sense really.

but with all those facts about the track size - its got me thinking and wandering......

what indoor arenas could realistically hold an indoor midget race? especially in the plains and midwest..........this could be a really good topic starter if folks actually think about it. i know just because an arena looks big doesnt mean it could really hold a good midget race - i mean just look at this race in KC....

so realistically - what places could an indoor midget race be pulled off at? realistically - i know there are very very few when all details are considered...

The Metrodome in Mnpls has the space & then some. Probably only enough room to pit about 50 cars though.

The St. Louis Rams lease runs out in 2015, and if the Dome isn't in the top 25% of NFL stadiums at that time--and it's not even there now--the Rams can move. So we could have a huge, largely unused building in downtown STL that would be plenty big enough for racing.

Well, let's see...

No midget hot laps allowed

Heat races over at 11:30pm

Track coming apart and exposing the concrete floor

Freezing temps inside due to keeping the doors open all night

9 cars finishing the feature

I'm glad I saved my money. It would still be a bad deal if it were free admission WITH a free lunch.

Ok Truth....how do you know all this if you did not see it first hand?????? I think you should stop talking unless you are there! And if you think you could put a race together then get on it!! Until you have done it you should only state fact not opinion!! That is why things get so blown out of proportion on boards like these. Unbelievable!

Knowledge is the key!

Probably because it was facts posted on other message boards by people and photogs that were there Friday night who said exactly what he posted.

There is this new technology that you may have heard of, it's called a "cell phone". People can use it to speak to each other over great distances without being tethered by a wire! Well, it goes like this. The Truth Detector had a pretty good idea that this race would be a clusterf**k, so he chose to not go. However, he has friends who are not only attending as fans, but also entered as participants. These people also have this new technology called a "cell phone", those very same people placed a call to The Truth Detector, informing him that he was indeed correct in his thinking that the race would indeed be a clusterf**k.

Now, you must also have a vivid imagination, or you could be a complete retard, because nowhere in my previous post did I ever mention that I thought that I could or would put together an indoor race. HOWEVER, if I did, I certainly have learned from this event what NOT to do.

Now, since your panties are apparently in a wad, I'd suggest that you pull 'em out and go take some Midol for that raging case of PMS.
