Kville track measurements taken tonight
measure inside raceable groove: 2624 feet
measured outside raceable groove: 2904 feet
mean groove: 2764 feet (124 feet more than 1/2 mile)
1/2 mile anywhere on earth except for Ohio = 2640 feet
apparently Posse and Kville are on the same page when it comes to laying out a 1/2 mile track - good job guys!
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

LOL...size doesn't matter. Its all about how you use it...and Eldora is STILL the fastest dirt track on the planet.

It's advertised as a 1/2 mile track. You proved it is. So what myth did you bust?
You surely did not need to measure Eldora to know it's not a 1/2 mile? I have only been there once and as soon as we got to where we could see the track I told my buddy it was NOT a 1/2 mile. Easy to claim to be the worlds fastest !/2 mile when the times you are quoting are set on a 4/10 mile track. Take the time trial on a 4/10 mile and do the math for speed on a 1/2 mile and you will get some amazing (but inacurate) numbers!

Ya know what they say about people that are obsessed with size. BRR, you wouldn't happen to drive a sports car?

I dont see the arguement here, you are saying Knoxville is not a half mi. because it is 124' longer in the average groove size? Wouldn't that mean the it is a little larger than a 1/2 mi (.5234 mi to be exact).
Plus how did you take the measurement? Lets make every track 1/2 mi exactly and the make the cars start in different positions if your on the bottom of the track you have to start ex number of car lengths behind the guy on the top so that you both have to go the same distance like on a running track.
I still dont see how you can claim that the track being longer then a 1/2 mi would make the times getting around it seem faster then if it was a half mi.

...this isn't a ploy to distract us from the fact that exactly ZERO Pennsylvania natives have qualified for Saturday's A feature is it ???...

OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Fight! Fight! Fight!
I wasn't going to bring that up. I might lose my "honorary Posse fan" status.

Hey, they might win the C-Main tonite from the pole or mid-pack and all of a sudden they'll be the greatest racers on the planet again, uh huh. The fact a few Posse fans are there witnessing this LIVE should wake them up a bit to the reality of their situation but I doubt it. They've been getting lapped for years down in Florida on neutral ground this ain't nothin' new. Always were, always will be, one track wonders, the numbers don't lie, ask Nick Bakay. Take It Easy...

No, the Belleville Highbanks is by far the fastest dirt track on the planet, and it makes Eldora look like a bullring...

I've always wondered why this is such a big deal to some people. Give me good race on a horse track with sprint cars and I am happy. Seriously, who cares and anyone or any track can make any claim they want to help sell tickets. No one seems to mind that about every 1/4 mile track I've been to claims to be the fastest.

Obviously you have never seen the show. They test the myths. Some are busted. Other's are not.

Nobody said any of that. Maybe a lesson in reading comprehension is in order.

CSJones, The issue here is some people are jealous of Eldora and want to bring it down any way possible. This is because it is the most exciting track to see sprint car races at.

Jealous because the cars can actually carry speed thru the corners at Eldora, unlike Williams (aka Donny's) Grove.

I have an interview with Kenny Jacobs where he was asked which track was faster, Eldora or Belleville. His response was that they run the same gear at both tracks, so one cant possibly be faster than the other.

Anyone who's been a fan more than five minutes knows that "track size" is whatever the promoter wants to call it. Here in South Dakota every track but one is a 3/8 even though the biggest "3/8" is twice the size of the 3 smallest "3/8".
What do you want? The government to go around and measure every track in the country in the name of consume protection?

Knoxville is 1/2 mile at the posts and 5/8 mile at the fences...legit.
The only issue I have is when they use the "approximate size" of the track to tell you average speeds and a 13 second lap at Eldora equals avg speed of 138 mph and a 15 second lap at Knoxville equals avg speed of 120 mph if both calculations are based on 1/2 mile lengths.
Since the racing groove at Eldora is ACTUALLY about 4/10 mile, a 13 second lap would ACTUALLY be an average speed of 111 mph. And the groove at Knoxville is actually just over .5 miles...at around .55 miles, a 15 second lap would actually be an average speed of 132 mph.
I agree with the previous poster who said as long as the racing is good the speed doesn't matter, but I do get annoyed with the bogus average speeds announced.

I haven't measured it, but I'm pretty sure that Calistoga is on the same page as the Grove and I'd have to fight for Manzanita also....it's no little bullring. I don't think either one of these tracks is in Ohio?

On a separate note, while we were loading up last night after the races my brother and I saw someone walking the track with measuring equipment and we both immediately laughed and looked at each other and agreed it had to be BRR. And we've never met or seen him to know what he looks like. We just knew who it had to be.
