Looks like he was turning to the bottom to try and pass and clipped the car in front. Bad driving for sure but it didn't look purposeful. If it was intentional then he deserves to get his azz beat.

I was sitting in turn 4 and after watching them swap spots for a few laps it clearly looked as if the kid was sick of being raced hard and after he was clearly beat for the last transfer spot to the A Main of a field of 58 cars he just dumped him at the line. I don't know these guys but just watching like everyone else and that's what we all saw. I guess you had to be there! Glad it's not my money.

I am a big fan of sprint cars and always like reading the forms to see what might be going on in the sprint car world. However, when I came across this video my jaw hit the floor. I had to register so I could do my first post (It’s kind of fun). This 14 year old kid just flat out dumped him coming to the line. I have seen some stuff before but this is over the top and the sad part you can’t even have words with him because he is 14 years old. Which brings me to my next point what is a 14 year old doing in a sprint car anyways? Their little marbles have not even dropped yet and their brain is not very functional at 14. If my kid did this I would let the other driver kick his azz and I would be telling my kid you want to do crap like that then you better take it like a man!
Out here in the Midwest I am starting to see kids driving with zero respect and it looks like California is no different. Whatever happen to the age limit of 16 years old?

I guess Kenny Wallace is noticing children racing also......

One person even commented "It’s all fun and games until one of these kids gets killed or kills someone else".

I was there and not that it will help Eric's demolished car or matters at all but if we saw this deal from above (like a drone) we see It a bit different. I'm seeing that Eric moved up the track the same zact time the kid cut under him. And they touched. i just think he was starting to turn down when Eric went up. Its a split second .. who's to say. But I don't think within that 1 second that kid decided he was gonna crash the 33 car to transfer.

Oh god......what a bunch of pussies. Have fun with your argument! California HAS always had young drivers!....Go drink a beer. I started young( many moons ago),but come on
Where's my beer or scotch on the rocks? God-damn it! 40
plus years of dirt track racing in these old veins might
get me condemned by the EPA.

He's not from CA. He's from WA. He's a 360 regular at Skagit. Won a feature there this year.
What's it like being able to see into the mind and heart of others?

I talked to a cardiologist as well as a neurologist and they both had the same answer. They said while they couldn't describe the sensory experience of it, they both stated it's a skill that pays very well.

My name is Scott Humphries, the “S” and the “E” is Eric Humphries. As brothers & owners along with friends and family we make S/E Motorsports possible. As brothers we have been racing for along time and take the upmost pride in everything we do.
We would like to thank everyone who has reached out to check-in on Eric, its greatly appreciated!
To Mr. Murphy and Co. thank you for everything you and your team have done in Hanford this year you guys are a class act!
The above posts have different opinions which are all valid. Unfortunately, based on facts I am sad to say “Info 101” might be trending in the right direction. Below are some facts to consider and has our team questioning the events that have been seen.
- As one of the owners, I drove down to the edge of Mr. Thornhills pit. Never crossing into their pit and remained seated on our quad to ask Mr. Thornhill, “What the F*%&k was that about”, rightfully so. At the same time, the driver was in his car rolling back to his pit and decided to ram the front bumper of his car into the front end of our quad. Then the kid told me to leave and to F*&$K off. STRIKE 1
- Eric returned to our pit from the track and wanted to speak with the driver, rightfully so. Eric walked down and I stayed a few pit stalls back just in case someone got brave. Eric asked the driver while standing outside his pit, “What the F*%&k was that about”. Mr. Thornhill (Dad) yelled from the door of his trailer, “He is only 14 years old”. Eric said, “Well he can still come out here from his trailer to discuss this”. The kid would not leave the inside of his trailer smiling the whole time and told us to F$%$K off. Eric & I then proceeded to let them know how we truly felt. STRIKE 2
At this point a simple apology would be sufficient. We are building a brand-new car and will be in Merced this Friday night. We already know the Thornhills will be racing also. So, between now and Friday before hot laps the Thornhills will have the opportunity to reach out to us and handle it correctly. We all know the same folks in Fresno where their rig is being stored and we are sure they will see this post. If by the time hot laps starts on Friday and we have not heard from the Thornhills we will have our answer on which opinion in the above posts was correct. Stay tuned…….
Also, on a different note to “Smokin Joe” if you have beef please come talk to us instead of being a Chatty Cathy to others.
Thank you.

Good post Mr Humphries.
I am all drivers starting young but how young is too young? Reason I ask, is in this day and age they can hide behind their age and drive like a total a$$hole with no consequences. Maybe he was nervous? But to sit there and smile and tell someone to f off right after you wadded up their car....no class. Just my opinion of course

I give you credit for showing restraint.
There's a lot of people out there who would have went after dad just so the kid had to watch dad take one for the kids actions

Mr. Humphries I give you the golden star for not kicking some azz considering the wreck made #2 on flow this week.

So people want to play adult games without adult responsibilities or repurcussions? Not a chance. Bust some ass.

C'mon man you can't have personal accountability these days that just wouldn't be fair......lol.. I hate to see cars torn up on the track but asses getting kicked in the pits I don't mind as much as long as they are deserved.

I havn't wanted to go to Merced in a very long time but this development makes me almost wish I coud be there. It's been since the 90's since seeing the place and I got more than my fill back then. From what I have heard it has improved but it was a shithole back then.

This post was brought to my attention, it was definitely not at "his best" and I was shocked by the insults to character and reputation. It is something as a team that we try not to participate in. I’ve raced with my son for 10 years all over the country and been on the receiving end more than once. Before I go on I want to express that we are thankful Eric was ok as that isn’t something we would wish upon anyone. Not clearing the back of his car was NOT how that was planned to play out and are sorry it happened. Protocol is to apologize and that’s what should have occurred. Being met at our trailer with anger before we had even digested wth just happened changed how the situation was addressed in the heat of that moment. None of us are perfect and all you can do is continue to learn from experiences of all sorts.
