I havn't wanted to go to Merced in a very long time but this development makes me almost wish I coud be there. It's been since the 90's since seeing the place and I got more than my fill back then. From what I have heard it has improved but it was a shithole back then.

Why woudn't you want to go to a track that is completely different from the track you went to in the 90s!? Tracks can change a lot especially with new ownership and track prep. People hated going to Marysville in the past, but this year they have had some great races and one of the only tracks running races this year.  I heard Antioch is also a track that has had great improvements with a new promoter. I went to Merced last August and thought it was great and Marysville is my home track. No track is perfect and it is not a good idea to trash talk tracks. I bet the races this weekend will be awesome!

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

I hated to see that Eric had some misfortune again last night.  Not of his doing.  (In my opinion)

What I find amusing is that nobody is on here bashing the driver of the #20 car for a "slide job gone wrong"?   So, shall we say it's OK , because maybe:

A. He is over 16?

B. He apologized?

C. He is a local?

Just makes a guy wonder...I don't know and couldn't get there (darn traffic!)  but that is just what it looked like to me.

I think that was the other Macedo, I called him a no driving b!t#* while I was watching on the tv. I've seen his brother do some questionable stuff also.

This post was brought to my attention, it was definitely not at "his best" and I was shocked by the insults to character and reputation. It is something as a team that we try not to participate in. I’ve raced with my son for 10 years all over the country and been on the receiving end more than once. Before I go on I want to express that we are thankful Eric was ok as that isn’t something we would wish upon anyone. Not clearing the back of his car was NOT how that was planned to play out and are sorry it happened.  Protocol is to apologize and that’s what should have occurred. Being met at our trailer with anger before we had even digested wth just happened changed how the situation was addressed in the heat of that moment. None of us are perfect and all you can do is continue to learn from experiences of all sorts.

This is the sort of level-headed response I had hoped to see. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

Eric and I truly appreciate everyone taking an interest and value all opinions.

Friday night was another tuff outing and it had its ups and downs for sure.  How we view Friday night vs. last weekend in Hanford would be like comparing Apples and Oranges.  Let me explain, while the end result is the same a wreck for a transfer spot and damaged equipment. The way it happened and how it was handled was completely different.  Cole made a racing move into the corner and unfortunately turned out to be a bad racing move.  As a team we where very mad just like last week since we had a solid night going even with a brand new car.  Here is the difference, Cole came to our pit immediately after the race and was met with the same anger that we expressed to Thornhill however, Cole being a real man with respect did not back away. The first word from Cole’s mouth to Eric was, “Eric I messed up and I am really sorry”. At that point our whole team including myself fully accepted Cole’s apology. We then knew it was a bad racing deal. Life goes on and we now have a great respect for Cole.

Now onto Thornhill, the only “if you call it”an apology Eric or I have received is the post you see on this form. We are too glad Eric was not hurt also.  We understand at best case the Kid has some growing up to do. Our team was waiting all night for Thornhill to come over and apologize for at least his bad driving however, I am sad to say it did not happen. At this point it’s behind us and someday Thornhill will be met with the same situation we just hope the Kid handles it differently very much like Cole did.  At this level we all have a ton of money invested into our weekly camping trips so when you destroy equipment Mr. Thornhill you are going to met with much anger but how you handle it determines how you will be remembered.

2021 is upon us and we are moving forward. Hopefully it will be kinder to all.

Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!

Scott Humphries
