Will his incredible winning spree not miss a beat?
Big races coming up at Port Royal, Knoxville, Charlotte, etc.
Do you think Kyle will win his share or struggle?

While I want to see him be competitave and win, I just dont know the learning curve it will take to be in the ball game at the WoO/Lucas level of late model racing. If he is comepetitive out of the box... we will know all the more how good he really is!

Although I would like to think he is talented enough to jump in a DLM and be competative, it is a whole different ball game racing against the likes of Owens, Davenport, Richards etc. with limited experience. That being said, I think if you give him a full weekend at Port Royal getting used to the nuiances of Dirt Late Model racing, by the time The World Finals roll around, he could be comfortable enough to run near the front. He is a special talent and it will be fun to watch his progression if the rumors turn out to be true.

I'm going to estimate the learning curve will be about 1 night to be competitive. Not declaring victory, because as bgtexpress brought up, there are some tough customers out there in the DLM world. I would say the closest thing he ever ran to a DLM was the trucks at Eldora. Not saying they are similar, just the closest thing I can think of that he has been in on dirt. So, with that said, he faced guys used to running trucks all season and career DLM drivers. He was the least experienced in all aspects. He had some good showings, but the most significant to this argument is the run he had from dead last to win-----which I believe was his last Eldora dirt race, correct?
I believe he will be a factor by the end of race #2. JMO though. Maybe he won't get it----but I would never bet against him.

I live close to a track known for Late Model racing over the years so I have gotten closer to them than many on this board who are Sprints only. To make it clear the Late Models are second on my list but I do know some of the drivers and one who races with the World of Outlaws Late Models, Brent Larson. People tell me that they're a lot more complicated to setup than a Sprint Car so Kyle will need a good CC to interpet his input and make necessary changes. I think if he has that and expects some door rubbing, bumping and banging he will do fine. Keeping in mind that Donny Schatz owns his Late Model and has been tinkering with it for a few years. He has had some decent runs with the WoO LM's but hasn't won one yet but has won locally. Donny has made some friends in the Late Models and has gotten advice and tips and it's still taking him a while so I'll throw that out there as a potential comparison. It will be interesting to see how this works out.

Alexander the Great cried when he had no more worlds to conquer... or at least thats the legend
I'd be surprised if Kyle won in LMs... but if he does, AMAZING!
I still wanna see him run wingless sprints again...

When Kyle ran his first latemodel stock car race on pavment at daytona...he won
The first time he rolled into Eldora and races midget, sprint and silvercrown ...he won
He made the alstar race for 1 million dollars...he won
given he will most likly have a very strong dirt latemodel ride with good set ups...he will win.

Well, Alexander the great has the same number of NASCAR championship titles as both Kyle and I do. Is this the point where I have a hissy fit? Dagnabbit! This is a rootin'-tootin', fire breathing, open wheeled sprint car forum. We shouldn't have to read about anything with gol-darned fenders!!! Did I cover all the bases?
I'm not a late model fan, but I'd have a hard time believing that a driver from some other form of racing could slip in a be very competitive with top-tier racers.

I heard a country song on the radio recently that had the lines "Danged if I do & durned if I don't"
I guess the singer didn't wanted to be "darned to heck"?

Im hopin, in fact I would love to see him go for the triple crown in USAC. I just dont see it happening especially being a father and husband. He has too much to lose and a lot more to gain weather it be Winged 410s and Midgets or, what Im really hoping for is INDY Cars. But NASCAR is where he is going to go back too unfortunately.
If it is NASCAR you cant bame him, that is where the money is, and with the right team he will win a Cup Championship and that will be sooner rather than later with the right team and he choses that venue again

He is driving a silver crown car in the Hoosier Hundred so I wouldn't put wingless completely out of the realm.
As for the late model, give him a race or two to be competitive.

Correct he is running as a teammate to KT this weekend and as far as a late model he is running port next weekend unlike a sprint car its much easier to get revenge in a late model when Young Money ticks a driver off which I am sure he will by the end of Thursdays races so it should be entertaining!!

I think he would be competetive pretty quickly aqgainst local LM competition but Lucas Oil or WOO? Nope, he will be lucky to put it in the A main.

He could always do double duty this weekend at the Grove and Port.

A-main would not be out of the realm of possibility at a big event. Winning? Not likely without some races under his belt.
I agree he could easily win a local race

Give him 2-3 races and he'll be knocking on the door. Kyle isn't afraid to drive the wheels off a car and beating and banging works just fine for him. We saw that up close at the Iron Man & Knoxville - he'll put the car where it needs to be to win. I'm assuming the Rumley #6 will be a solid car and with the Rumleys tuning it, he'll have a car that can compete. Dude is just a wheel man.

The harder you drive a late model the better it handles. It'll take a minute for him to figure out how to stay up on the bars but when he does, he'll be hauling the mail. His driving style is perfect for a late model.
