I would love to see another track in Central Pennsylvania race 410’s on a Friday night. I would be very curious to see how competition would affect things at Williams Grove. Susky? Sorry, BAPS LOL

What good would another track splitting the field do? Are you hoping one would increase prize money to attract the cars and start a purse war or something else?
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

From what I’ve seen at the grove this year so far, I don’t think it wold split the field very much. I think most of the field would end up at the other track if it put the effort in

17 410’s and 18 358’s!!! Yikes. Perhaps it’s time to drop 358’s in central Pa? Would that help 410 car counts?

I think car counts will improve if summer ever comes to Pennsylvania. But With Williams Grove being very tough on motors and having some less than consistent track conditions over the past few years, I would just be curious to see the outcome if another track put forth serious effort. I just don’t think racers are loyal to Williams Grove on a Friday night. Where else are they going to go?

WG will be a nice subdivision soon anyway. The infield will make a nice common area with a pool & tennis courts. The track itself could be used as a walking track for young families & millenials who reside there.

I was there last May. Could not believe it was still "in the country" considering its age. Thought it would be surrounded by development. Anyone know how far it was out of tje city when it was first built? Why hasnt the city enveloped in?

First problem is the number of 410 races we have on the schedule in central PA, way too many. The second problem is the size of the tracks. Aside from Knoxville, 1/2 miles are obsolete. Engine costs have put spint car racing out of reach for many and the bigger tracks drastically increase those costs. Then throw in the fact that the cars are so locked down now that it's hard to pass anyone on a big track until it slicks off. The simplest and best way to improve the racing and combat the costs is smaller tracks. Less cost and closer, better racing. Just look one state over. OH 410 tracks are drawing 30+ cars for regular shows and they pay far less than we do in central PA. They are all bullrings. Attica had 44 410's last week and 31 SLM's. Cut down the straights at the Grove and widen/ add more banking in the corners. Then we'll have a great Friday night track. Big tracks were great back when the cars weighed twice as much and had half as much HP but times have changed. Time to stop living in the past and update our tracks to smaller configurations. JMO

Baps raced in similar weather conditions and had 20 410’s and 10 358’s. Problem is if these tracks cancel everyone gets mad and if they race, no one shows up.

You hit the nail on the head. The fact that in order to have any hope of a decent race on a half mile, the track has to basically have a shitty, boring dry as a bone surface should tell you all you need to know. You're exactly right. These big tracks around here are outdated. It was fun while it lasted but half miles suck anymore....and this coming from a guy who has been going to Port Royal since I was born. These days, the big tracks don't do it for me anymore. Time to get with the times and shorten these horse racing tracks before we have no more rich people willing to spend millions to watch their driver start 12th every week and at best finish 5th because they spend more time racing against the dirty air than they do their actual competitors.

Disagree with there being too many. It will correct itself, that’s how a capitalist system works. As far as 1/2 miles being outdated except Knoxville is pretty much nonsense. People get all ass hurt when a track slicks off and only a select few can come through the field. Tough shit.... If you don’t like getting beat then do something about it.
As far as motors go, you have a valid point. Problem is there are cheaper ways to make just as much if not more horsepower. The GM LS platform needs to be adopted. There as so many good factory parts for those motors that will hold 900+ hp it isn’t really funny.
Bullrings really aren’t any easier on the cars, its just easier to compete if your down 100 hp on a 3/8-1/4 mile track.

Probably one of the best posts I've seen on here. Couldn't agree more. Eldora is another good example...name the division.

Williams Grove NEEDS to shorten their race track to 3/8th ASAP, THE HALF MILES UNFORTUNETLY ARE TOO HARD ON ENGINES

I can "top" that (sadly)....12 410s at Atomic tonight for $2500 to win.
Can't make this stuff up.....Five of the twelve cars were number 4.

Until something is done about costs this is the trend.....dwindling car counts. Do the series owners give a shit? No. This will help their series thrive.

Delete the 360s and say 13 go up and 13 go down. Then you got great car counts.
Kind of just joking. Kind of suggesting too many classes kills it.

At Port last night and full fields or close to it 410's and 358's at Lincoln last night. I know there are some Sat. night guys not out yet. Next week we will lose some to Mansfield.
