It should be. Last year I drove my family through there. Beautiful! I think it was $25 per carload. 18 miles of great scenery, but be careful---some of the cliffs aren't protected and there are some nasty dropoffs for the kids.

I'm betting dimes to dollars we have seen the final checkers fall at Husets speedway.
(I refuse to acknowledge the name Wastelands entertainment group)
RIP Husets.

I thought I heard that the Rubins were working on a lease deal to open it up next year.

Just as well stay on the market. By the way one of the best kept properties in Brandon, drove by last Saturday night, had the video board's showing highlights, almost thought the place was open.

That video board comment gave me an idea. Buy the place and sell tickets to watch all the great racing football and other sports games on the video screens. Very minimal staff. No dust and replays. Get admission and food and beer sales.
You can pick all the best events and never have an average showing.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

And start each and every program with the song "I'm Sorry" by Brenda Lee!

That would require paying licensing fees. Buying the PPV and charging admission doesn't cut it. Might still make a profit, just another expense.

I hate to think how much money Chuck would want to lease it.

3togo I drove by it last Friday en route to watching the World Finals on TV and indeed the video boards were going, The Badlands Motor Speedway signs at the top of the hills were replaced with 80 acres race ready for sale $9.45 million signs.
Sad to say with no news this late in the offseason I don't see anything happening there next year.

Wouldn't be the first time someone tried the old "For sale by owner" scheme to keep from paying a realtor.
If you stop to think about it, if the video screens were up and running, maybe a potential buyer was there taking a look-see.

Murphy fake shake n bake has already sold 36 of your porn video sets.
If he sells another 999,964 he is gonna buy the track.
Keep the faith brother!

Gross! He probably bought all 36 copies. How can you tell a fake shake n bake from a real one?

You need to ask "Rock & Roll" Chuckie Bren that. He's the only one who can answer it.

Because people would rather sit outside on metal benches watching TV than in the comfort of there homes? Or aren't there enough TVs to go around in SD?

Now, I gotta be honest here. SD probably has more TV's than people, and the TV's are getting bigger all the time. But who watches TV when they have a computer in their pocket?

There was a similar business model back in the late 60s where you could sit your car and watch. They called them drive in movies. Sometimes we got lucky in the back seat but I don't think that would be a good fit for Badlands.

Those seats are pretty uncomfortable just sitting in them..........
