Just getting this out there. I have resigned from PennLive and will be starting my own business. My new venture will be a Sprint Car website, which will debut Jan. 20 at the Motorsports show in Philadelphia.
A little bit about it. The site will feature breaking news, features, enterprise stories, photos, lists, slideshows, videos and more. It will be original content in the same format that was on PennLive and more. The plan is to have a new story (original content) every day throughout the year. This includes the offseason.
This will be a subscription site with a couple of free features, including schedules and a history of speedways and traveling series around the country. The subsription price is minimal for the content that will be provided. It's $8 a month, $35 for six months and $50 for a full year.
Along with original content, members will receive a free entry into the Month of Money contest. First prize is two tickets for all three nights of next year's World Finals. There will also be free tickets to certain race events raffled off to members during the season at no extra cost.
Thank you.

Jeremy, are you still going to do your talk show? Is John still a part of it, he added a flavor to your show. The problem with so many pay sites is everybody wants a slice ov the pie you, DV, The Cushion etc. pretty soon there is no pie. Good luck I really looked forward to listening to you and John every week, hope I still have some pie left.

Jeremy good luck with your new site.....on one hand I wish you luck, but on the other hand it pains me to see a great newspaper writer like yourself go by the wayside. I guess that is the stark reality in today's new world. I hope you will continue with some sort of podcast. It really enjoyed listening to you and John every week. One of the best hour's motorsports.

Good luck Jeremy, I enjoy reading your stuff and listening to the podcast.
I have always thought that a dirtondirt level website for the sprint car world would be great...if thats what you are aiming for then good luck!

The podcast will move over to the new site, and John will be a part of it. We are even thinking about making it video instead of just audio.

It will be similar. I've also felt that Sprint Car racing needs a site like that, and some recent changes at PennLive and personally have led to me taking on this venture.
I understand the concern of a pay site. However, the site will be well worth it. I plan to provide the same content I did at PennLive and more 365 days a year.

Good luck with the new venture Jeremy, always enjoy your stuff (and enjoyed having a professional journo for the niche sport we all love).
I'm sure you've began the process already but start making those phone calls to find sponsors big and small. Start with all the sponsors you see on the WoO Tour and offer them a competitive package - both ROS display ads + sponsored content. That'll help pay the bills and allow for more travel and other expenses...

So will this basically be a Sprint Car version of DoD? Highlights and all that?

There will be some video component. Still working out the details on that. As far as writing content, breaking news, features, etc., it will be similar.

Congrats and good luck on the new venture. So will the new website just focus on PA? Will include 305, 360, and 410's? What about nonwinged?
With all the money rolling in now with this website you can step up and sponsor John's 360 to get him off the porch! LOL

Funny, John said sort of the same thing. Lol.
The main focus will be the 410s, but I will have things on the site from 305s, 358s, 360s and wingless. Also, it will be much like I did at PennLive. I will be based in central Pa, but I will travel to Florida, some Ohio Speed Week shows, Brad Doty Classic, Kings Royal, Knoxville Nationals and World Finals. There might be a trip to California depending on how things take off.

I too also thought that sprint cars needed a dirt on dirt type of site!
I think it will be a big hit and will help spread the word

I appreciate the kind words. I'm sure it will be a lot of work, but I like that. The best part is that I can focus all of my efforts on Sprint Car racing without having to worry about covering other sports.

I see the pay deal having a hard time. Everyone else makes a living from selling ads like Hoseheads, etc. Lots of hits is the main deal. Even the granddaddy of them all Speedsport is free now... Speed Sport News
They don't even know how to spell sprint car
much less chromoly...http://www.ycmco.com

I see your point about paid subscription, and if I could avoid it, I definitely would. It's a tough deal when everyone is going for the same advertising dollar.
That being said, I feel the subscription price is worth it considering the content. Also, there will be raffles for free tickets throughout the season to members. And it will come at no extra cost.

Will there be a free trial period so we can see what we are buying before laying out the $50?
